"With 65 of Ohio's 88 counties reporting final recounts to The Associated Press on Friday, Bush had gained 395 votes and Kerry has gained 554 votes. The running tally accounts for 4.4 million votes cast, or about 74 percent of the total certified vote from the Nov. 2 election."

From a similar artice from the Akron Beacon Journal (subscription required):

2. Because they're part of the mafia
I'm still running down who they are. But, the head editor is from the Omaha World-Herald, owner of ES&S. Others on the Board are RW Dallas types. There's more there, I haven't found it yet.

My understanding is, the AP had the only direct access to the vote on the evening of 11/2. Do they call the election? I don't know.

They're filthy, and my new hobby <g>.

27. Official recount rerunning the compilers won't change much; need to get on
to investigating the fraud that has been indicated in
Trumbull, Perry, Lucas, Greene, Cuyahoga, Hocking and several other counties. How is that being approached, officially and unofficially?

3. Something interesting in Sandusky county BOE counting room,
Out in plain sight on a table against the wall behind machine #2 was a message on an ES&S letterhead. It provided a number to call on election day if there were any problems with the machines, and "to please call in the results as soon as possible." Hmmmmmmm....

a result. But, the AP is THE AP, where our print media gets most of their hard news. They are there as a fig leaf.

But, that's just my impression. I can't prove sh*t yet. And, you can't hide stuff like that forever. We'll know if we keep working it.

(And that whole "is that a freep" thing just really c%ckblocks the co-operative effort here. Could we just put a lid on that for a minute?!)

7. PROOF THAT THE RECOUNT WAS HIJACKED!
Ohio's 3% recount system was electronically scamed and subverted, and it will certainly just re-affirm the lie that Bush won Ohio.

The numbers mean absolutely nothing in themselves, but one good side benefit of the recount is that it happened to expose just how the electronic rigging was done. Read this very carefully:

18. Results of several counties today; lack of random sample in some
Results of recounts in several counties today; Kerry gains 47 in one county; choice of precincts not random in some counties as required by law; 2 counties have hand counts not match compiler total but BOEs want to bring in new vote machine rather than do county wide recount. They assume the original vote machine malfunctioned.

8. Only 3% of total being recounted
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 10:23 PM by dlaliberte
The report is wrong to say that the recount has finished 74% of the total certified vote. The recount process first counts just 3% of the precincts, meaning about 3% of the total vote. So really, the recount gain by Kerry of 554 votes and 395 votes for Bush should be multiplied by 33 (33 * 3% == 99%) to get an approximation for the total gain.

Still, that amounts to about 18000 for Kerry and 13000 for Bush.
Not enough to make up the difference.

I might be wrong about all this, however. I just read that if the 3% hand count does match, then they proceed with another machine recount of the remainder. So perhaps the 554:395 extra votes is for the total.

BUT, the 3% is generally hand picked, not random, to ensure that they will avoid doing a full manual recount of the counties, because if they did have to do a full manual recount, that would expose more of the fraud, and quite possibly close the gap if not reverse it.

17. That is correct. If the 3 percent hand count does not match the machine
count after two tries, the whole county gets counted by hand. If it does match, the machine recounts the rest of the county.

24. After the 3% is counted by hand, if it matches, all the rest
are then tabulated by machine. If the 3% doesn't match, all is recounted by hand. So, all the ballots will be counted, one way or another.

16. I just returned from a recount of Van Wert County with a Wisconsin
contingent. It was a very small county. The director of the board of elections was very open. She let us see everything we asked for and was very agreeable. The recount added one vote for Kerry due to a chad that popped out in the machine. I believe that this director really did do everything she could to run a fair election. The disturbing thing is the computer hooked up to the punch card counter has a modem link. We asked when it was serviced last. She said Triad had dialed in on the previous Friday to update software. So although the numbers look right in this very republican county, who knows what Triad does to the computer. Whatever they want I guess.

Hey, thanks for making the trek to help with the recount. You guys are wonderful for doing that.

23. I read on Kos that the reason they change the software is to supress
the votes in the races not being recounted. Ohio recount law says only the race in question is to be recounted. But this is clearly a bullshit argument for adjusting the software. The election official could simply black out the results of the other races. There is not need to alter the computer.
