Sickening - B*C* Take TOTAL Control of Inaug Parade Route!!!
C-Span just rebroadcast a news conference by ANSWERCoaltion.org (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism)

Paraphrasing here since C-SPAN and ANSWERCoalition.org have not yet updated their websites...

ANSWER spokesmen said that they had applied for permits for parade route protest locations and they have not been granted nor declined by the Parks commission. Just stonewalled. ANSWER showed a map of Pennsylvania Ave. which shows the areas where B*/C* were granted control of the space - which is virtually all of it. Plus, they will by erecting bleechers everywhere in this space and selling them to their supporters to finance this coronation. Bleechers will block any ability to group together. They are taking over a public street and profiteering from it. Denying equal space, making protest impossible to coordinate. They estimate B*/C* will make $40 million off this deal.

ANSWER plans to force Parks to deny or grant. If they deny, they will seek legal solution. (Oh, alright then, after that everything will be ok - HA)

This to me is sickening. They own everything now - even Park Commission officials and Public streets. We need to find a creative solution - especially if they deny sign carrying.

1. They don't want a sequel to Farenheit 911
where Bush is made to look like a coward and a fool.

I think they fear embarassment above all else.

2. You're right. ANSWER did say that they tried to do the same
thing in 2001. So protestors got through then. Wasn't there so I don't know how they got through. But I am sure that whatever the loophole was - B*/C* is probably plugging it this time. It would be cool if somehow we could trick them into thinking we were big supporters and could take over a set of bleechers. We could have B*/C* signs that tore off and underneath - protest signs that all said B* is a criminal.

3. Bleachers
Appears they want to usurp the space b/t the Justice & FBI buildings. Guess the media cameras will be on the bleachers.

And they did say that in 2001 Ticketmaster sold tickets to the A and B group, but not one ticket was sold to the C's (the general public).

This was discussed last night, too.

Personally, I can't blame him. Being one of the most hated men in the world, I think I'd do the same thing.

6. How True! It doesn't seem to bother him one iota though - he
has to create an alternate reality and counts on the masses to believe it.

7. Protest
I still think that an effective form of protest would be for everyone who hates Bush to drive with their emergency flashers on on January 20th.

9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you be cited for that?
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 10:35 AM by KansDem
Driving with your emergency flashers on?

I thought way back when I was taking driver's education, we were told this was a "no-no..."

on edit: I'm all for protesting this smarmy SOB but why give local police an opening to harass you and charge you for it too?

26. Legality
The wrong guy is being sworn in as President. Isn't that an Emergency? If you get a ticket, demand a jury trial and ask for discovery of the officer's personnel file.

The citation would have to be for something like "improper display of lights" which I can't imagine would be a big fine. If half the cars on the road have their flashers on it would be hard to write tickets.

10. Want to do something? Do this all over the US to piss off Rove
Go to http://somnamblst.tripod.com to download the high res PDF or TIF files to print. BUSH CHEATED 04 is color but can be photocopied or printed B&W to save $$$. Distribute it in creative ways or better yet buy a can of 3M Super 77 adhesive from Staples and glue it to metal utility poles, bus stop shelters, phone booths and newspaper racks in high foot traffic areas.

14. Put your pics on photobucket
Go to Photobucket.com and create an account. Upload pic, right click on pic, choose properties then copy the URL and paste that URL into a post on DU.

I need help coming up with new post Nov. 2 lyrics for my GWB is a PAB rap/poem

George Bush is a punk ass bitch
Crony capitalist only cares about the rich

Blew the surplus, now deficit's sky high
While soldiers in Iraq continue to die

Bush couldn't win, so Karl Rove said
Call Uncle Tom Blackwell he's in bed

With all those haters who suppress the vote
??????????????????????????????????????????

28. Remember all the Iraqis who were hurt or killed by shrapnel
from anti-aircraft munitions at the start of the war? They have anti-aircraft guns and surface-to-air missles all over D.C. This is a truly dangerous idea.

30. Dems are always worried about what's legal, what's safe, geez
(just kidding). You'd never make it in the SHock and AWE brigade, would ya? At least FOX would cover it (if it bleeds it leads).

OK. How about confetti saying "Bush CHeated" from the windows above. Any access to upper level buildings or is this the DC area where there's the trees and the tourist attractions? Its been a decade or two since I've been there. Loved the blossoms in the Spring. Or finger nerf rockets with "the Emperor has no votes" or something. Probably can't shoot them far enough from the hinterlands where regular folks will be allowed to be.

Or how about a parallel parade to the head of the FBI since they seem to be the ones letting us down now. (Unless the Ohio judge decides he is an AMerican first, Republican second. In which case I think we can thumb our noses at the FBI). Sigh. Why have the Republicans let this group hijack their party?

doubt if they'd get out of the way so you could throw confetti.

21. I am calling in all my prayer power for the Mother of all Blizzards
to descend on DC starting on the 18th all the way through the 22nd.

The winter equivalent of a hurricane

The D C equivalent of a good old New England Nor'Easter

do you get my drift?

And if it can't snow, then please let it rain for 5 days non stop, HARD

32. This will cause riots if there is no protest access.
I don't think people are going to be happy to have a free speech zone in Dupont Circle or something.

I hate to say it, because I don't believe in violence, but I don't see how this ends well.

This will get ugly quickly. Those donors better be prepared for a tussle.
