Question: How can we get Jan 6 protest MSM attention before jan 6?
What can we do to have the media cover our protest ahead of time so more people show up. There are all kinds of moderate dem's that if they knew the facts would be in DC for the 6th. We need to come up with a strategy so the media starts having sound bites such as:

"Millions expected Jan 6 to protest agaisnt the certification of the electoral results from the Nov. 2 presidential election"

anyways i dont know what to do any suggestions?

1. It won't be hard by then; there will be so much fraud documented by then
The evidence is accumulating and will soon be snoballing!

2. Send them a press release.
The release ideally should quote some party leaders as well as event organizers projecting how many will attend and why. It should include a contact name and number at the top right for the media to call with questions. The body of the release should include a number and website for the public to contact if they wish to participate or have questions.

It wouldn't hurt to get some celebrities involved, too. Babs and springstein, ie.

4. Wondering how this will all play out
to those in the middle of America (AND elsewhere)- from a PR point of view.

Here are the responses I see:

Bar in Red State:
"Oh jeez, Kerry lost and these people just can't handle losing again, when will they stop whining?"

Bar in red almost blue state:
"Bush stole the election, again, politicians have been assholes from the start of time and he is no exception. What do those people think they will get standing out there in the cold bitching about it? Dems and repubs are both evil anyway."

Bar in blue but almost red state:
"Well, bush stole another one - who wants another round of beers?"

Bar in NY:
"Them politicians are all crooks, turn the fucking channel Moe to some football..."

Bar in CA:
"Damn *, damn him to hell. Now we're all going to die. Give me a double."

Bar in Florida:
"Well, at least they are not blaming us this time!"

Bar in Southern Ohio:
"I voted for bush, fuck those hippies and those assholes in northern ohio with their big cities and crime. Let's go kill osama."

And so on. In a word, apathy. Election is over, people are getting on with their lives - they don't see things the same way we do. Presidents come and go, they all suck and are crooks.

This comes from me being such places personally (I have lived in columbus, Ohio, southern ohio, northern ohio, southern california).

In southern Ohio I used to go to a bar that had posters "osama, wanted dead" and the like. Their big beef with dems - terrorists could blow up something and dems would do nothing about it, at least * was looking to kick someone's ass over it all.

So it comes down to this really - why is it the left claims fraud when they lose but don't when they win? That is not me asking, that is what I am hearing when I discuss this (and I went out after movie tonight, and that is something I heard when I mentioned the election at a local pub here in columbus - east side).

What did I hear back when we went into Iraq? I remember that time well - I was supposed to go on a trip but canceled, the day before I left we invaded Iraq. Down in circleville, at pat's and another bar off the main strip, people were talking all about it (and the news was on, not sports of course - not that there was much sports on at the time). I mentioned the war in passing, and listened to others. "Hell, them damn hippies didn't do shit for 8 years, that clinton guy just sat around getting blow jobs and they sat around drinking expensive coffee. Ain't not one of them protested saddam ever, why they out protesting our president?" (this was an old biker dude at pat's) at tootles pumpkin bar I heard "finally, someone who kicks ass and dosen't roll over"

So here we have some of America. Apathetic. Tired of the claims of cheating by the 'losers' and tired of terrorists blowing up our stuff and no one killing em for it.

Sad really - even many on the left just don't seem to care, it's business as usual. We may here on DU, and on some other sites, but most of the people seem content to move along and keep truckin'. They EXPECT our politicans to be cheaters and liars, all of them - so pointing out that * is dosen't really do much - he is just a cheater and a liar who does what they want to do, kill some terrorists and kick some ass - which distracts them from other things (until they get bored with it all, which they are doing).

Sad. People have come to see all of government as corrupt - so pointing out such corruption does not really surprise or amaze anyone.

Maybe next time we won't sell our candidate as against *, but sell them as someone who can do things for the people - but it may not matter too much, cause people don't believe politicians anyway (they are akin to priests to some who say one thing and do another).

Bars - a window into the avg joe :)

5. That sounds about right...
I was taught from a youngin that there ain't no sech thang as a honest politician.

You're spot on about bars being a window. Not the fancy Friday's ones, but the corner Blue Collar ones like the ones I was raised in.

6. I can post info about it on my website.
And in my Yahoo group. I don't have near as large an audience as DU, though.

Can you give me more info or a link to more?

I usually am right on top of everything going on here, but I've been near-death sick with the flu for the past 2 weeks so I have missed a lot.

7. Suggestions? Hmmm... phone? email? visit? snail mail?
Those'd be good places to start. Just send something every day, and encourage your friends to do so as well. Make a daily calling list.

8. THERE IS A MARCH FORMING... from Baltimore to Washington..
takes 4 days and tey are doing it in the Selma-Montgomery style march.. just colder. I think Jesse Jackson may be there and others... If its big enough it will alert people just in time. Other groups are joining forces for this.. BE IN DC on the 6th... even if we lose the day... our warning will be heard that we will not lay down for them!.. and we are not fooled! Best case... Kerry is elected... but thats not likely... even though he won! I know that Kerry has no chance if no ones there!
