Received email asking for help from Arnebeck--here are his directions
Got this letter today from Cliff Arnebeck (I was asking him if they had deadlines for donations and what was a good way to send money). Here is what he said in the email:

----------------------

"Funds are critically needed. Contributions are fully tax deductible, inasmuch as we have two 501(c)(3) corporations backing this litigation. Loans against the money already raised and being raised on the Internet are also needed.

We have asked for $200,000, but in fact as the Bush legal team becomes engaged we need a lot more.

Any help you can now provide may affect American history, in my best judgment.

Mail (preferably Express mail) to:

Cliff Arnebeck
Arnebeck Law Office
1351 King Ave., 1st Floor
Columbus, OH 43212
614-481-8416

or, better yet Wire Funds to:

Ohio Election Litigation Fund
National City Bank
Routing #: 041 000 124
Account #: 982307158

If money is wired please advise me by Email and phone so I can be sure to monitor, send necessary acknowledgment for tax deductibility and/or promissory note for repayment any money intended as a loan.

Thank you for your help. The bills will be around for a while, so while money is urgently needed, there is not a cut off for the need for money for this project, unless Senator Kerry were to release the funds he raised for post election litigation.

Cliff"

2. And of course the direction he gave over the phone earlier today:
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 12:29 AM by Straight Shooter
http://thealliancefordemocracy.org /

"Donate to Ohio Honest Elections Campaign. Funds are needed immediately for an honest recount of the votes cast for President in Ohio. Funds are also needed to conduct expert investigation about how the votes were tallied in Ohio.

From this Alliance for Democracy home page, you can click on the Paypal logo to donate. You do not need to have a Paypal account to donate. They accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

edit: I'll try to find the GELAC contact info through johnkerry.com and ask him to release those funds

edit #1: I found a contact link. http://www.johnkerry.com/contact/finance.php

My message that I sent within this contact link:

This is in reference to the efforts by Cliff Arnebeck in Ohio. In response to an email (and I'm receiving this information secondhand), he wrote at the end of the email: "Thank you for your help. The bills will be around for a while, so while money is urgently needed, there is not a cut off for the need for money for this project, unless Senator Kerry were to release the funds he raised for post election litigation."

Will Senator Kerry please release the funds needed by Mr. Arnebeck to pursue his lawsuits and investigation in Ohio? I am sure Mr. Arnebeck and Senator Kerry can discuss this matter and determine the appropriate amount.

Thank you for your consideration.

4. Ask Arnebeck to clarify
arnebeck@aol.com

This is a lawsuit, may perhaps not be considered "political" in the legal sense of the word.

6. Good suggestion
My only point was that anyone who wants to make a donation and expects a tax donation for the donation should seek clarification. It's been years since I studied this stuff, but my recollection is that there was a very defined line that 501(c)(3)s couldn't cross without risking their tax exempt status.

7. We can NOT let Cliff down. He and Bonifaz are the only ones 'on this'
Can't believe that Kerry is not helping out at least financially.

He sent money to Washington State to help out the Recount there.

11. As far as I know seeking legal remedy
is not a political activity. However, to be tax deductible I believe the money would have to be sent directly to the non profit organization in question, so in this case it probably isnt deductible. But I could be wrong of course.

Ohio Election Contest Lawsuit Seeks Funds

Dear Concerned Citizen:

We are writing to you directly to explain the work that we have
undertaken and ask you to help us in whatever way you can to ensure that
the Ohio vote is accurately counted.

On Monday, 12/13, we filed a lawsuit against Bush, Cheney, Rove and
others on behalf of 44 Ohioans alleging that Bush won the Ohio election
as a result of fraud and that Kerry actually won the Ohio vote by 142,537
votes. Specifically, the complaint alleges that votes were fraudulently
manipulated to affect the outcome of the election. Our law suit provides
us with the means to gather evidence relating to the fraud that we have
alleged. Only by establishing the fraud, will we be able to ensure an
accurate count of only those ballots legitimately cast.

As you are aware, also on Monday, 12/13, the Ohio recount requested by
the Green Party, began and is expected to be completed as early as
12/22. Though we believe the recount should be done, we believe it
cannot expose the fraud that we have alleged and therefore will not
expose the actions taken by the Defendants which affected the outcome of
the election. Whereas, the recount can only count the ballots that the
Boards of Elections has in hand, the law suit can expose the fraud that
resulted in extra and destroyed ballots and machine manipulation. Thus,
this lawsuit can uncover what the recount cannot, and therefore is
critical to exposing the whole picture of fraud in Ohio.

We sincerely believe, based upon the objective facts, that our lawsuit
will demonstrate by January 6, 2005, the day on which Congress counts the
electoral votes, a level of fraud which resulted in wrongly securing the
election for Bush. We believe that even if we are delayed beyond January
6th, the ultimate result of this suit will be to uncover a level of fraud
which cannot be ignored and will ultimately result in proving that Kerry
won the election in Ohio and therefore the presidency.

To read the complaint go to

To watch a C-SPAN interview with Cliff Arnebeck cut and paste this link
into your internet browser:

We have estimated that the suit will cost at least $200,000 to
pursue. This includes filing fees already spent, deposition costs and
attorneys’ fees and expenses. If you are interested in ensuring that the
opportunities presented by this lawsuit are fully explored, please make a
donation to ‘Ohio Election Litigation Fund’ and mail it to Cliff
Arnebeck, Esq.,1351 King Avenue, 1st Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43212, along
with your email address. Any money donated to the fund will be held in
trust and be used only for the purposes of this law suit. We will
provide each and every donor with regular email updates regarding the
progress of the lawsuit. There is no contribution too small and we thank
you for your participation in this effort.

In addition, we are asking for lawyers to join our team. We need 10
litigators and 20-30 additional attorneys to assist in discovery efforts
in Ohio. If you are an attorney and are interested in working on this
case, please contact Gail Jonas who has agreed to coordinate this effort.
Gail can be emailed at
<http://mail.yahoo.com/config/login?/ym/Compose?To=gejonas@sonic.net>gejonas@sonic.net
or call her at 707 433 6845 or 707 431 8451.

We thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Cliff Arnebeck

9. $25 here
Not much, but I figured if I could send the same to BBV on 11/05, and haven't seen any fruits of labor yet, the least I could do is send some Cliff's way. At least I can watch my moolah in action.

18.  its not tax deductable, but so what..
even if it was unless you do a long form it wouldnt do you any good and even then its a minor tax break. You do not get all of it back when you donate, not even close.

19. That's what I meant,
BlueAtHeart. If applicable, it would be negligible in terms of the motivation to donate in the first place.

Some of the posters here must think Dem activists will prioritise supporting any cause that will give them a tax break! Doh!

20. It is time for Kerry to release som of his funds...
Knowing that he released a portion would get more people to donate. Is anyone working on pleas to his office? I can't donate much right now, my husband and I both started new jobs just recently and we were living off savings for a while, but I'd be willing to donate a little more, if I knew Kerry was releasing some of the money I've already given him! I'm not dissing Kerry and I know he may already have plans for that money to be allocated elsewhere, but he needs to release SOME of our money!
