Nov3.US email blast urging calls to key Senators to contest!
This may be a dupe, but I was excited to receive this from another group who is taking action regarding the election fraud! This came from Nov.3.US and http://www.counter-inaugural.org/.

I figure with all of these groups sending out email blasts, we must be making an impact by now. All we need is for moveon.org, election protection and People for the American Way to start blasting and then we'll have reached millions. Any ideas on how to get them on board?

January 6, 2005:
Take Action on Election Violations as Congress Meets to Certify the Vote!

More than a month has passed since voters cast votes
for the President and Vice-President of the United
States -- but every day, more and more stories surface
that call into question the election's integrity.

Machines broke down, counted backwards, eliminated
votes, and registered votes for the wrong candidate.
progressive and African-American neighborhoods
experienced by far the longest lines on election day,
the most vote spoilage, the most elimination of
provisional ballots, and the most victimization by
precinct manipulation.

Four hundred thousand callers phoned voter protection
hotlines, with complaints ranging from absentee
ballots lost in the mail, to outright voter
intimidation and disenfranchisement. And partisan
election officials with conflicts of interest
undermined voting rights in states from Ohio to
Florida to New Mexico. Even progressive Democrats on
the House Judiciary Committee have questioned the
elections' legitimacy, in a series of rigorous,
painstakingly detailed letters documenting the
unprecedented extent and scope of vote suppression,
available at http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/

How can we have confidence in American democracy when
so many questions about this election remain
unanswered? In addition to the longstanding issues
subtly undermining democracy -- corporate domination
of the two major parties, plurality elections, and
corporate media bias - the recent election betrayed
democratic principles overtly.

Despite the efforts of a few valiant members of
Congress, most of our Senators and Representatives
have ignored our pleas for serious investigation into
the "irregularities" that surrounded the 2004
election. But one more opportunity remains for these
government officials to stand for democracy.

URGE PROGRESSIVE SENATORS TO TAKE A STAND ON JAN. 6,
WHEN CONGRESS MEETS TO CERTIFY THE VOTE

On January 6, 2005, Congress will meet in joint
session to certify the 2004 presidential election. On
that day, if one member of the House and one member of
the Senate object to the certification of the vote,
then all members of Congress will finally discuss
these issues. On January 6, 2001, not a single Senator
would join with the Representatives who demanded an
inquiry into the Florida recount. This year, let's
make our Senators take a stand!

The following seven Senators are some of the most
progressive members of the Senate. Please call them
immediately, and urge them to defend democracy on
January 6.

*SPREAD THE WORD TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW TO KEEP DOING THE
SAME UNTIL JANUARY 6.*

Senator Barbara Boxer, (202) 224-3553,
senator@boxer.senate.gov

Senator Dick Durbin, (202) 224-2152,
dick@durbin.senate.gov

Senator Russ Feingold, (202) 224-5323,
russ_feingold@feingold.senate.gov

Senator Tom Harkin, (202) 224-3254,
tom_harkin@harkin.senate.gov

Senator Jim Jeffords, (202) 224-5141,
Vermont@jeffords.senate.gov

Senator Edward Kennedy, 202/224-4543,
senator@kennedy.senate.gov

Senator Patrick Leahy, (202) 224-4242,
senator_leahy@leahy.senate.gov

ON JANUARY 6, PROTEST IN WASHINGTON, DC AND AT
SENATORS' OFFICES IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITIES

While our Senators and Representatives are inside
Congress, tallying the electoral college vote, We the
People must have a presence outside, bringing
attention to the disenfranchisement, suppression and
fraud that pervaded the 2004 election - and demanding
real reforms to extend and protect democracy in
America. Please join us on January 6 in Washington,
DC. Details on the DC protest TBA. Check
http://www.Nov3.US or http://www.counter-inaugural.org
for more information.

If you can't come to DC, we urge you to organize a
protest outside a Senator's office in your community,
and list your event at http://www.Nov3.US

This call to action is initiated by No Stolen
Elections! and United Progressives for Democracy.

1. Robert Byrd should be added to that list, too. :)
He's another senator who stands up for principle.

Thanks for posting this, Karyn. I've been so busy with a home project that I feel like I'm out of the loop when it comes to specifics about e-mailing my congressmen. If I were to write a letter about the election fraud, I wouldn't know where to begin. I wouldn't want to make my letter too wordy that they wouldn't read it.

2. There are lots of sample letters and congress/media blasters to help
I agree- Byrd is a great idea!

There are lots of places, by the way, where you can easily send letters to Senators (and media) and they have been pre-written for you so you can edit or add what you'd like bu the hard paart is done!

Here are some links:

Here's a media blaster (it's easy and terrific!)

More:

One Senator and one House Representative are required to contest an election prior to inauguration. We have the representatives. We still need a senator. Several efforts are underway to let the senators know how important this is. Here are some tools to help you participate.

Here is a web page created to help you contact your senators and the minority House Judiciary Committee, all at the same time.

Senator Byrd from W. Virginia is also seen as a potential candidate to contest the electors.

5. I say we blast John McCaine.
I can dream, right?
Furthermore, if someone can create a really non-partisan letter that we can use to send to GOP senators (and copies to the media), with credible, factual evidence and remiding them that this is about democracy and protecting our rights to vote. I say we blast them too. We will need bi-partisan support once this gets contested- we have to pray that there are some Republicans - we only need a few-- who are pissed off at Bush or truly come from a place of integrity and will support upholding the constitution. Maybe I'm naieve but I still believe that most people went into public service because they wanted to make a difference and believe in preserving our rights as American citizens.

9. We should definitely include McCain & other Republican senators with
a shred of integrity, as suggested in GregD's post in another thread:

I spoke with a House Judiciary staffer today

I was going to post this as an independent thread, but this thread will probably get plenty of attention.

Some of you probably know that I posted last week, asking folks to knock off the barrage of e-mail to Conyers and the Dem members of the Judiciary. In that thread, we were approached by someone that claimed to be a Judiciary staff member, who agreed to call me the next day. Well, she called today, after doing a web search and figuring out who I am, and then finding my phone number.

The caller was a nice gal, they appreciate the efforts to turn the tide on the e-mail hoax, and had the following suggestions.

1 - keep the conversation going, try to get this into the public discourse. They fully believe it was stolen (again.)

2 - e-mail the Republicans

3 - apply pressure to the White House and demand "what is going to be done about this"

4 - contact your Senators and ask for support Jan 6.

As for #3, I have to admit my own sceptical attitude - like, as if they will do shit to reveal their own corruption. But that's what she asked us to do.

As for #4, she had no suggestions as to whom, and acknowledged that she could not go there.

10. Patty Murray , in the increasingly important Washington State
She just got re-elected BIG here, so is in for another 6 years. She voted against authorizing the Iraq war. She even made a comment concerning Osama bin Laden's popularity in parts of the world, that the Right tried to spin out of control, and she STILL won huge. She's got principles , and doesn't shy from standing up for them, if there's enough public urgency. Add her to the list ! GO PATTY !

11. congress.org also has a letter ready to send out...
to your own reps. in Congress. It's a one-click process, key in your zip code and away you go. They have a letter ready which you can edit, or you can add your own.
