Olbermann pointed out the main difference between them and "us"...
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 08:08 PM by RaulVB
From the blog he posted earlier today:

"Had there been a reversal of the poles in this political equation, of course, the impenetrable Sean Hannity would be in his 49th consecutive day of broadcasting without sleep, and by now would’ve already announced that Democrats from Outer Space had stolen the election..."

There isn't much to add, perhaps that if the situation were to be the opposite, that is they claiming "fraud has taken place," there will not a single Republican voice challenging that notion. ALL OF THEM WOULD BE CRYING FOUL AT THE SAME TIME AND USING THE SAME LANGUAGE.

They have hijacked the public discourse, indeed!

8. They would have been screaming bloody murder...
Then they would have continued to scream about how Kerry was destroying this country by turning our democracy into a dictatorship, bankrupting this country, destroying our economy, allowing 'terrist' attacks to hit us hard (like 9/11), have people of same sex relationships so close to the White House, destroying the integrity & honesty of the White House, ripping off hard working Americans (well, those who are rich, cheat, & get away with it, not real hard working Americans)........ I'm getting tired, this is 'hard work'..... Where was I again? Oh yea and this is a big one, Kerry would completely ruin what we have done so right in Iraq.

Wait a damn minute! SHRUB has actually done all of what they would accuse Kerry of. Just makes you sick to watch them blame SHRUB's "proponent" of what SHRUB has already done.

6. Freepers have leadership (or the equivelent)...
There are many of us who are/can be foot soldiers. Some of us are even lieutenants.

But, who is leading us? Who can we rally behind?

Our so called leaders are saying that we need to redefine ourselves. Bull shit. I am proud of my liberal views for society, environment, and government. I don't remember the numbers but were we not 55 million people strong in support of our democratic candidate? I think that translates to 47 percent. Think of it this way - in a room of 100 people, 47 is democratic, 47 are freepers and those last remaining 6 people went to greeperville. Given that exit poll show Kerry winning, we are actually in the majority.

Where are our leaders sticking up for us? JJ - Yes. Conners - yes! Who else is going to stand up for us?

I am more of a thinker and do'er - not a leader of people...
My personality is not of a leader but I will most definitely rally, fight, and support the leaders...

11. I had some thoughts on this.
It seems to me that the internet community does a fine job of being a collective mind and getting the liberal message out. The grassroots network of blogs, message boards, and email chains is almost organic.

Where it falls down is 1) traditional media and 2) a real infrastructure of progressive think tanks and message coordination getting out to the Dem leadership.

Seems to me that WE can't do a whole lot about those two points--- other than email them, call them, and annoy them as much as possible. And, of course, move ourselves into positions of leadership as much as possible....

Just my two cents.

12. And here I was, thinking that these lines summed up the differences:
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 09:33 PM by Patsy Stone
"...but one of them got me genuinely angry the other day, and made me doubt the value of our educational system."

"This one fellow’s email contained a reference to Fascism being a leftist doctrine. I actually had to write him back to make sure he was serious. 'Hitler was a left-winger. Case closed, dumbass.'"

Chances are we're smarter and we don't make him angry.
:)

15. One thing they're not doing this time around
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 09:23 PM by anamandujano
is talking about contesting close states that might switch repuke. Last time all I heard was, "if Gore gets Florida, republicans will ask for recounts in this state and that state, etc--and it'll all balance out in the end and Bush will still win."

They aren't doing that because they can't. They cheated everywhere.
