free republic DC on Cspan whining about the violent, violent protesters
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 11:22 PM by Skip Intro
coming...the violent left wing....

they are whining that they can't secure the space they want at the inauguragion, that they need to give safe haven to the bushies from the violent, violent left wing protesters.

making it clear that these violent left wing people want to attack the navy memorial, which is where they'll be, btw, and that they will do all they can to protect the memorial from the troop-hating lefties.

hippocrite just stopped slandering the "left" long enough to brag that he was part of the protest outside the Gore's residence. I remember reading horror stories about those people.

oh, now we're professional anarchisits

what are these people on?

1. Do they include all the REPUBLICANS who oppose bush's bullshit invasion?
And all the REPUBLICANS who voted AGAINST bush?

Of course not.

2. They are projecting
If Kerry had won, they would be planning violent protests and therefore we must be doing the same. You can tell a great deal about what someone is afraid of.

11. The DC chapter is a particularly vile bunch of right wing nut jobs
They are also the biggest bunch of cowards I've ever met. They are so afraid of confrontation that if you even approach them in a non-threatening manner they whip out their cell phones and dial 911. If this bunch thought there was a chance of violence they would run away with their tails tucked between their legs.

12. They just helped the protests. If it bleeds it leads.
Just the news of violence will send the camera crews if thats what we want. We don't have to be violent at all, just the Freeps threat of it will send the news crews to air all that art and truth. Bring flowers all.

17. So true
My fiance had this experience doing GOTV. He was approached by one of those Nathan Sproul creeps outside our neighborhood grocery store and he announced that he was working with MoveOn. This guy (in his 20s) turned and literally ran down the block, with my fiance (55) yelling after him "we've gonna kick your ass!". Hysterical.

Which makes me suspicious that they might need to start some violence to blame on somebody.

15. If they are going to label us Radicals, lets start calling them
Reactionaries, as that is the exact opposite on the political spectrum as a Radical, and to me, sounds far worse. Plus, if it ever caught on, some of the sheeple who are too dumb to look something up might think 'radical' means cool! :) (hey, they bought that Bushilter was a "compassionate conservative", those idiots will fall for anything you tell them. so long as you appeal to that hatred they all seem to harbor deep inside.)

23. actually, in the classical political definitions, a Radical is someone so
Far to the left as to be past even Communism/Marxism, whereas a Reactionary was defined as someone even farther right than Fascism.
This page has a chart that shows it.

31. Oh, I wholeheartedly agree, but since they only understand name calling
and God knows if I can agitate a Rethug a day with something so simple as a silly label that don't mean shit in the long run, but gets under their skin, especially after you explain to the idiot that a reactionary sits to the right of HITLER, i.e. you make a NAZI seem like a good guy; well, then I might get to use my black belt, and since the election, I've been dying to break a freeper in half for therapy :P(kidding)

25. What are they doing on television?
Why aren't they in Iraq? They keep claiming that they'd go if their Dear Leader called on them to go, but surely they've seen the news on Faux and know about the troop shortage. Surely they've seen the Faux news about the Mosul attack and understand that Dear Leader is too shy to ask his loyal goose-steppers to march to Iraq.

If those guys were REAL republicans, they'd be in boot camp, right now. Protect democracy! Enlist!

26. First of all, why do they fear us?
Is it because they know that we are right? Why else would we be angry? And of course, we are. Do we also fear them? If so, then we are in a spiral of fear, pitted one against the other. In such a situation, one side must decide to remain rational and calm in order to keep the peace. If we take the "high road", and direct our fear and our anger constructively, we stand to gain.

I like the advice of a pastor who is a close acquaintance of a friend of mine, who wrote:

We know that the first thing to do in a situation of fear is, as a leader, to model calm resolution, and be as unflappable as possible. Vibrations of fear can tear apart a congregation or a nation, so our first order of business is to be steady and calm, thereby both avoiding yet more fearful vibration, and opening folks to some possible hopeful alternatives.

Our best bet as Progressives will, as it seems to me, to be “centered” within ourselves, and focused on the calm peacefulness that we want to prevail in this situation. That is not a Pollyanna approach, but realism about how to cope with fear. It’s a very demanding realism that is difficult to approximate, much less achieve. But the alternative is worse, for then fear conquers us and destroys us. We have to turn our realistic fear into constructive action, and move steadily forward toward the kind of nation we envision for ourselves, our neighbors, and for the grandchildren of us all. Sure, we could fail. But not to try at all is to make failure inevitable and fear our fate.

32. they feel free to hang the "violent" tag on democrats because they know
that democrats aren't the violent types. they know they can push and push and say things about us and we fight back by maintaining our dignity, something they don't understand.

here's what i think democrats/protesters should do. when there's a confrontation like that, grab some freepers and rip their clothes off of them.

don't punch them. don't kick their teeth in or shatter their kneecaps, much as it would be justified. just tear their clothes off of them. send them running naked or in their underwear back to their side of the picket line.

nothing would humiliate them as much or make them look as silly when they're standing before the cameras whining about how awful we are.

it's one thing to stand before the eager news reporter showing off your bloody nose and black eye. but standing there naked, with your flabby, pink manteats for all the world to see, makes you look like a great big weirdo.

:-)
