2. So where does that put us on Jan 6th?
But he just said yesterday he was ready to stand up with Senators. Is that no longer true? Me confused.

4. Lovely spin from Salon
Conyers gave the standard political answer to every question in that interview. I don't think he's flip-flopped since yesterday.

6. I don't think he has either. We got to remember that Gandhi quote...
"...then they fight us, then we win."

They've started to fight us, so we need to anticipate some spin. I'm more concerned with Keith's blog today. But with that also, I think someone's forcing his hand.

5. he's not our savior
From what I saw on the televised hearings, it didn't look like he was going to take a position on the election many here would like. People quickly anointed him as savior. They all have their political careers to look after. To get them to act, we have to exert enough pressure so that it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to avoid doing so.

That's just what the Repugs would like.

12. The language that lawmakers use is not the language nonlawmakers can use
If they want to do their job effectively, Conyers, the lawmaker, has stated this very clearly.

He's too subtle for casual listeners. He speaks the language of the lawmaker only the surface. But if you listen carefully to his soft elegant voice, you will hear that Conyers is, like Nadler, one of the most outspoken of the soft-spoken representatives we have. He is a master at understatement. What he actually says is not even on the page. Look in the margins.

Here's an example. Just look at his response in the Salon interview to the question: Is he surprised that no Republican has publically said they support his efforts? "No, not really. If you had a majority leader like theirs, you'd probably think twice about it yourself.

Do you understand what he's saying? He's saying that if you're a Republican who goes against the nomenclature and Mr. Delay you might as well kiss your career, and maybe your life, goodbye.

10. I'm New - This interview is indeed strange
and i just read an article in The Village Voice that mentioned the DU and i thought would be promising, but turned into one of those "get your ducks in order" better luck next time articles. here is the link: http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0451/perlstein.php

If this was happening to the other side you better believe there would be 24/7 news coverage of fraud and neo-cons on FOX news screaming their heads off. We are so polite. Although Arnebeck was not very polite in the Voice article. Too bad no one is hearing him!

oh and Keith O has starting blogging again!

ok, this is my first post. if i screwed anything up let me know.
