A Week of Inauguration Protests Planned
By EMILY FREDRIX, AP

WASHINGTON (Dec. 21) - Groups targeting President Bush's economic agenda, the legitimacy of his election and the war in Iraq plan a week of events to counter his inauguration Jan. 20.
"Our intention is to show President Bush and the world our movement is energized, mobilized and determined to fight back,'' said Gael Murphy, of the activist group Code Pink.

Inauguration week will feature rallies, marches and demonstrations with the focus on peaceful, family-friendly gatherings, said organizer Shahid Buttar. Hundreds of groups throughout the country will participate, Buttar said, including Mobilization for Global Justice and the Committee to ReDefeat the President, a PAC that sees Bush's presidency as illegitimately won.

2. I love this quote
"What I expect is more people will be here to protest Bush's inauguration than to inaugurate him,'' Lytel said.

I hope so!

3. So..... I need to schedule some vacation....
Jan 2-6. I am entirely willing to sacrifice my vacation time for the year. Small price to pay, considering businesses will no longer offer vacation time or other benefits in the future. They won't have to. We will work, keep our mouths shut, and follow orders when the regime has full control.

4. Me too......
I wonder how much coverage this will get on the media. I knew there were mass protests of W's first inauguration, but didn't realize how extensive it was until I saw Farenheit. Egging the limo and all.

9. be careful
if you are going to protest, please look out for yourselves, a whole crowd of protestors (and just innocent passersby) got unlawfully imprisoned in NYC when * and the RNC were in town, some were in prison for more than the legal 24 hours of habeas corpus, just to keep them from protesting in front of the shrub...i wish i could remember the url of the blog this was on, but it escapes me at the moment...maybe someone else knows?

10. NYC INDY media
the link that had the most stuff about the RNC in NYC was http://nyc.indymedia.org/ there are lawsuits going on now against the city. NYC is guiliani musilini country so our cops are like no other. they were terrible and took advantage of the situation. just to a search for the RNC there and lots of photos, videos and stories will come up.

if you are going to washington dc. i suggest you check with the main http://www.indymedia.org/en/index.shtml its just a great place to go anyway. they are doing a lot on the vote in ohio and new mexico too.

http://dc.indymedia.org/ the DC site.

i must warn you - this site is monitored heavily by the FBI. last summer during the RNC the fbi tried to do something with the site (i forgot what) but whenever i was on the site my computer crashed. but it didnt stop me - i was having to much fun. the info and video was too good.

i told you about the law suit against the city well i just read about this: the city is splaped them with a subpoena, part of a civil suit in which New York City is a defendant, demands voluminous information, including all of the Independent Media Center's news reporting, emails, internal documents, and web pages relating to the World Economic Forum.

dont know what the RNC would have to do with the world eco forum!

something strange cause they also seized their servers in europe a few months ago. hmmm. bet they think these kids are on to something. or want to if they are.

sorry for going on === there is lots of news on the DC site about the rally!! i will be sending peace from nyc and watching on C-span and dc-indymedia!

14. That's really great and all, but...
it won't matter. We could the ENTIRE populations of this country AND Canada to show up in protest and Bush would still go on like nothing was happening. And the media would still find a way to keep them out of the picture.

Besides, by then, the chimp would be crowned king and it would be too late. January 6th is the important date. But my fear is there won't a big enough rumbling in Congress...I hope I'm wrong..

17. BEWARE: Anti-protest groups WILL be present!
Couldn't get any rest after I listened to the anti protest groups spill their drivel about how awful protestors were, how ANSWER was full of Anarchists, how "someone" had descecrated a Navy Memorial there in DC...

Perhaps some of you saw the "panel" of pigs who are going to show up to "keep" it balanced and help the park police stop any "violence"?

*Kristinn Taylor, of DC Chapter Free Republic
*Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch (itching to sue someone)
*Kevin Martin, former Navy person (big fat loud mouth, rather threatening)
*James Parmelee, NorthernVirginiaGOP.com (smiled at his former organization of the "Get out of Cheney's House" protest after Gore got punked 2000)
*Larry Bailey, Viet Nam Vets for Truth--Officer (forgot rank)

These guys are some slimy shits...watch out for them!

18. Yes, be careful
I'm one of those RNC arrestees that ashmanomar was talking about. I broke no laws, never was ordered to disperse, never told, "You're under arrest", and until my release 19 hours later, was not informed of my charges. Some advice: write all your important phone numbers on your body in ballpoint pen, carry a pocket full of change and some calling cards. Also, the ACLU and the National Lawyers Guild may have some important dos and don'ts on their site. And one more piece of advice: keep on fighting the good fight! I love this country and I hate what these fascists and religious hypocrites are doing to it!

19. Anarchists in ANSWER? Hilarious...
The idea that anarchist's would be part of a Leninist/Marxist kook group is hilarious. If you ever head over to Infoshop, you'd find most people LOATHE those guys, mostly because they soak up all the attention and all the stuff for themselves, despite the fact that unaffiliated and un-named anarchists are the grunts who make their functions work 9 times out of 10 while their trying to sell their crappy newspapers. If you're going to criticze us, atleast get the labels right.
