MY TINFOIL HAT IS GETTING HEAVY: CNN 2000 Exit Poll Site is INCOMPLETE
Edited on Wed Dec-22-04 10:30 PM by TruthIsAll
I wanted to compare the 2000 exit poll numbers to the final
votes. Everything was fine until I hit the drop-down menu for
Florida.

The exit poll data is missing for 40 states.

The following are the states that came up and for which I was
able to compare the two-party exit poll numbers to the 2-party
votes. Nader's numbers were not included in the exit polling
data,so the totals for Bush + Gore = 100%.

This is what I found. There was a Red Shift to Bush in 8 of
the 11 states. The average shift from Gore to Bush: 1.17%.

Let's compare the limited results to 2004:
2000: 8 of 11 shift to Bush: 73%
2004: 40 of 50 shift to Bush: 80%

Is there a pattern here? There's only one way to find out:
Where are the exit polls for the other 40 states (including
DC)?
Help me out. MY TINFOIL HAT IS GETTING HEAVY.

Take a look here:

2. Can't help but noticing...
There is not a single battleground state listed. Hmmm...The only results you have from CNN are the ones that they didn't find it necessary to fuck with.

5. ahhh, perhaps that is part of the "..comedy of errors.."
You know, perhaps more 'technical glitches'.
Crash CNN's mailbox.

7. Right. They didn't even count the votes in 2000 eaither.
They never plan on counting them. not in 06, not in 08..... They plan to pull this trick on you and me for the rest of time.

4. 2000 exit poll data here:
http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/2000vote/general/exitpoll_hub.html

You can't use the scroll down menu with the states, but you can get to it from the picture that you can't see anymore.

When a site sits dormant for 4 years its probably going to have some problems.

"When a site sits dormant for 4 years its probably going to have some problems".

Well, maybe some problems for the Repukes - if the 2000 exit polls are analyzed and juxtaposed with the Red Shift "anomalies" of 2004.

Jeez, it would sure make for an interesting correlation analysis.

What are the odds that TWO impossible events could occur in succession? 1 out of IMPOSSIBLE^2?

Just a coincidence that I clicked on FL and nothing came up? And the states that do come up are one-sided to begin with. But the DAMN Red Shift appears to be there.

Trit, do you have any other suggestions?

Well, maybe its just my computer at work. I'll try again later.

14. TIA - it may just be your computer
The non-existent picture does work to bring up data - you just have to play with the mouse to get the state you want. Got Florida and several others.

The drop-down list does not work for me either, like tristofme said.

6. TIA: just checked my crystal ball --
I predict you will find VERY interesting things while scrutinizing the 2000 results.

So, if AG is out, how about running the GAO?

8. TIA I am not a numbers cruncher but I don't think they want
2000 numbers looked at, just a guess. And all was well until you hit the drop down for Florida huh? Interesting. Yeah, I don't think that they want those numbers readily available, no more than they want 2004 examined. Why, do you suppose, they would take the 2000 numbers down now?

9. FL was the first one missing. Just a coincidence, I'm sure.
All the other exit poll data is still up there.

10. should be available to universities
Do you know anyone at Emory? This data is available to any Emory employee here - <http://einstein.library.emory.edu/vns.html>

Also, if you know anyone at a major university you can access the 2000 exit poll data for each state here:
<http://webapp.icpsr.umich.edu/cocoon/ICPSR-STUDY/03527.xml>. I will try to get this today too.

13. I'm at the University of Michigan
I clicked on your link, and it looks like I can download the data. They do stipulate, however, that "By downloading the data, you signify that you agree not to share the data with anyone other than faculty members, students, or staff of The University of Michigan. You further agree to the terms of use specified in ICPSR's Responsible Use Statement."

17. I wrote to CNN's "broken website" address
I think it's an honest technical error, and they really should ensure the data is put back up. If it's not a tech error, then we'll see what they have to say about it....

18. Here's the MSNBC 2000 Exit Poll Site
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 05:55 PM by americanwoman
http://www.msnbc.com/m/d2k/g/polls.asp?office=P&state=oh

I discovered it last night when I was looking at the
difference in party numbers between 7:30pm and
"final" Ohio 2004 exit polls.

FYI- Here's what I found:
Party Ohio2000 Ohio-2004 7:30pm Ohio-2004-Final
Democrat 38% 38% 35%
Repub 37% 37% 40%
Indy 26% 24% 24%
