I just got this letter from the Kerry/Edwards Campaign???? What do
you make of this???????

Dear ***,

Thank you very much for signing up at JohnKerry.com. Your support is instrumental to the success of our campaign -- and you've taken the first step by signing up today.

Our organizers have fanned out across the country, linking up with activists and volunteers like you who have been working in the field for months. Person-to-person communication is critical to spreading the Kerry-Edwards positive vision for a new America: stronger at home, respected in the world. With your assistance, we will create a field program whose size and reach are unmatched in the history of presidential elections.

We need your help in this tremendous effort. Please FORWARD THIS EMAIL to five friends and ask them to get involved in our field program by clicking here:

http://volunteer.johnkerry.com/profile/new

Face-to-face contact is the best way to get voters to the polls for the Kerry-Edwards ticket. We need a huge number of grassroots volunteers -- you are our #1 recruiter. Forwarding this email to just five of your friends will help grow our field program into an unstoppable force. Tell your friends to get involved here:

http://volunteer.johnkerry.com/profile/new

Again, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Kerry-Edwards 2004

115. No, I got one too. Well actually TWO...one at each email address
Now that I know others got it as well, I do NOT think it was accidental. Look at the "time-stamp" on it. I got mine at least dated at roughly "Thurs-11:45 am." Wasn't this just about the time that the "news" of Kerry's entering the Ohio suit hit the press officially?

Not to sound too 'tin-foil,' but this is VERY Kerry-esque. He's saying exactly what he said in that video in Nov. "I'm going to need ALL your help." If the email was a computer glitch, then why would it tell us all that we had JUST joined the campaign, and that we need to contact 5 friends? I feel he's mobilizing his legal team, at the same time he's mobilizing his foot-soldiers.

I think THIS was a "safe, general, call-to-action" blanket-response to all our emails, which as you recall Kerry had NOT responded to yet.

Come on, we've been waiting for a 'sign'...for 'leadership.'

Let's start forwarding that email to 5 friends! At the very least, we're patriotic fools!

19. it's one of three things
1) it's another 'secret' message to tell us that they are still there - or to test their email list for new updates to come

2) some Freep got a hold of all our email addresses and signed us all up on the volunteer page so that we would get emails to get us all excited

3) there was a serious malfunction in their database and it accidentally sent out emails.

108. Just emailed Kerry back to support OUR troops
I'm feeling rather humbug today. I responded to Kerry with this:

Well, you know what Senator? Perhaps cards should also be sent to the brave soldiers fighting for freedom and democracy not only in Ohio, but also in the other states where election fraud occurred. People have left their homes and families to fight this war for justice - for the right to vote and to have votes counted. Those around the country who cannot travel to states like Ohio are voluteering time and effort from their homes.

These are brave soldiers, without a leader, making a last-ditch effort to save America. Yes, the soldiers sent to Iraq to die by BushCo are deserving of our support, but so are the people in the US who are sacrificing for freedom as well.

Weird to hear from the Kerry site and the Clark site on the same day.

Holiday Greetings from Wes Clark
December 23, 2004

Dear me, NVMojo,

Happy Holidays! I hope you're enjoying this festive season with family and friends. Gert and I are heading west to spend Christmas with my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson in Los Angeles. I'm really looking forward to sharing this special time with them.

The holidays are a time to celebrate together and give thanks for the many blessings we've been given. I am so grateful for your friendship and support through thick and thin over the past year -- I wouldn't be here without you. I am so thankful for my family whose love sustains me in all that I do. And I'm so grateful to be an American, enjoying the freedoms and values we share. For all of these blessings, and plenty more, I celebrate this holiday season.

The holidays are also a time for reflection. It's hard not to reflect on everything we've experienced together -- from the highs and lows of our own presidential campaign, through the highs and lows of John Kerry's campaign, and the difficult days and weeks that have followed since November 2nd. 2004 has certainly been a memorable year for all of us.

There are so many wonderful images indelibly etched in my memory from this year -- the thousands of men, women, and children I met during those long days on the campaign trail in snowy New Hampshire, each with their own story to tell. The sheer exhilaration from our hard fought primary victory in Oklahoma. The incredible energy I felt in the hall at this summer's Democratic Convention as I addressed the delegates, our Party united like never before. The many dedicated candidates, volunteers, supporters, and voters I met as I campaigned across America for Democrats from Alaska to Florida, California to New Hampshire. These are a few of the things I'll be reflecting on this holiday season.

Finally, the holidays are a time for us to look forward, eagerly anticipating what the New Year will bring -- and what we will bring to the New Year. We've accomplished so much together in this past year, but we all know that our work has only just begun.

With your help and active participation, WesPAC is going to help provide the kind of leadership that America so desperately needs: sound, wise leadership that reaches across cultural, geographic, and partisan divides to bring our country together, solve common problems, and address the threats facing America both at home and abroad. Anchored in the ideals of service, integrity, and accountability, WesPAC is committed to developing and supporting leaders who share our values in all levels of government, forging a winning progressive electoral majority that spans both “red” and “blue” states.

In the coming days and weeks, we'll be refining WesPAC's mission, relaunching our website, and recommitting ourselves for the tasks ahead. I think you'll like what you see.

But today, with the holidays upon us, I ask you to do just two things:

First, I ask you to commit yourself to this next phase of our mission -- it's not going to be easy, but nothing this important ever is.
Second, I ask you to forward this message to five of your friends and invite them to join our cause. Encourage them to sign up as members of WesPAC today as we prepare for the work that lies ahead. We need to keep inviting new people to join with us as we work to change America.
Thank you so much, once more, for your continued support. During these holidays, I hope you'll find time to celebrate the many blessings we've received, reflect on all that we've done this past year, and look forward to everything to come in the New Year.

Gert and I send you our very best wishes for a blessed holiday season.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

46. also, I NEVER went to the Kerry campaign website, as far as I know
I've never donated to the Democratic Party (instead have donated to individual campaigns and grass-roots orgs).

I did write to two Ohio reps today asking them to contest, and I did use the PDA.org email sender to write to some progressive senators on the issue.

THIS IS WEIRD.

119. Did it come to the email address you list here at D.U.?
n/t

Looks like there's a REAL organized effort here at the other end... mirroring what we've be doing from our end the last couple of months.

Looks like they pulled databases from Campaign volunteers, campaign donations, letters to Senators/Congress, action groups such as Move.on, and probably just about any on-line petition we signed recently regarding the Election Fraud issue.

I think it's cool! And the wording of their email is subtle enough that it doesn't look "threatening" to Freepers and Repugs who might accidentally receive one.

All the Dem "powers-that-be" who've been "silent" so long, are finally mobilizing. Cool!

117. Did you send a letter to Kerry's office since the election?
Because I got TWO of the same email...one at the email address I used re: my grass-roots work for KE campaign, and one that I used ONLY for my letters to Senators, Congress. The only way I could've gotten the KE letter yesterday at the second email address, is if Senators (incl. Kerry) and/or Congress people I've recently written have begun compiling a database of KE "supporters" for contesting the Election!

And now a similar letter from Clark, asking that it be forwarded to 5 people too?! There's some real coordination going on here at THEIR end. They've been oddly silent for a while. Now they're swinging into action.

51. A year-end message of thanks to our troops
received this letter from John Kerry today....

Dear Supporter,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones enjoying the holidays. I have been thinking a lot about what our johnkerry.com community can do to mark the end of what has been an extraordinary year. We have formed bonds of friendship and commitment that I know will extend far into the future.

So, in addition to thanking you once again for all you have done, I'm writing to invite your participation in one final 2004 act of collective generosity. As a soldier, I remember how much it meant to hear from loved ones - especially at the holidays. So, I thought you and I could work together to make it easier for our soldiers serving in Iraq to phone home and hear a friendly voice.

We've found a program that does just that. Operation Phone Home is run by the USO, which has been an extraordinary friend to American soldiers for decades. The USO buys phone cards at cost and provides them to our soldiers free of charge. You can help the USO help our troops this holiday season right here:

http://www.uso.org/carddonations

In January, I will go to Iraq to see the situation firsthand and personally visit with our courageous troops who are serving America so well. Nothing would please me more than telling them that hundreds of thousands of us have expressed our thanks to them in this concrete and personal way.

Your gift can help a soldier phone home.

http://www.uso.org/carddonations

In the New Year, I will be writing you about our 2005 projects and priorities. In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this special time of year. Thanks so much for your constant acts of friendship and your special consideration of this request.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

P.S. There are 140,400 U.S. military members serving in Iraq. Any calls they make home to those anxiously awaiting their safe return are at their own expense. A gift of $100 will provide 20 soldiers with a 100-minute phone card. A $1,000 donation would do the same for 200 soldiers. Please help. A friendly and familiar voice can mean so much to a soldier serving America so far away from home.

76. This is either another encrypted Message from Kerry or just a big mistake
I donated to the Kerry Campaign, signed up for his Child Protection Pledge and have written him numerous emails since Nov. 2, yet I did not receive this email.

So I believe that is was just a mistake, although how often are 'mistakes' or 'glitches' made when you blast out potentially millions of emails. IT people aren't that incompetant (trust me, I'm one of them).

But, the alternative idea is that Kerry is rallying the his troops, us, and this is a dry run for a huge public opinion campaign about to begin to dethrone the chimp and make the fraud center stage in America.

In reality, these things really don't happen by mistake.

90. SOMETHING IS HAPPENING HERE! Email from Jerrold
Nadler too... 2:06 pm CA time. Merry Christmas to you!

Dear (Niche),

I wanted to give you a brief update on the ongoing investigation into election irregularities. As you may know, the GAO has already granted our request for an investigation and on December 8th I attended a forum on election irregularities in Washington, D.C.

Since Election Day, thousands of Ohio citizens have reported difficulties and barriers in casting their vote. These reports include: long lines at polling places in Democratic and, especially, minority areas; electronic voting machines which malfunctioned; precincts reporting more voters than they had, or inexplicable numbers of votes cast; and disenfranchisement, particularly in high-population areas.

Therefore, on December 13th, I along with Congressman John Conyers and other members of Congress, held a hearing in Columbus, Ohio to address voting anomalies in the 2004 election. We listened to testimony from Professor Robert Fitrakis, Editor of The Free Press; Cliff Arnebeck from Arnebeck Associations; John Bonifax, General Counsel for the National Voting Institute; Gregory Moore, Executive Director of the NAACP National Voter Fund; Susan Truitt, Co-founder of CASE Ohio; David Cobb, Green Party Presidential Nominee; Reverend William Moss, Community Leader; and Norman Robbins and Judy Gallo from the Greater Cleveland Voter Registration Coalition.

After listening to the witnesses testify, I am even more convinced that action needs to be taken to reform the way we conduct our elections. Unfortunately, I do not think the evidence we have so far is sufficient to lead to a change in the results of the election. It is conceivable that could change as the investigation proceeds, and we need to keep the pressure on for a more complete accounting of what actually took place in Ohio, Florida, and elsewhere. But one fact remains -- to stick our heads in the sand and ignore election irregularities would be a real disservice to the nation.

We need to give the American people confidence that each and every vote will be properly counted, and that the democratic electoral process is respected. I do not want to turn my back on the investigation and have it lose momentum; I want to look forward to improving election laws and procedures. Gathering information that will aid both the investigation and new election reform legislation in the next Congress is a good course of action for protecting our electoral process.

I want to encourage people to start getting educated now about the voting process so that there are no surprises in 2006 and in 2008. Arming people with the knowledge about their voting rights is just one way we can continue to fight against those who wish to curtail our freedom to vote.

>> Please feel free to forward this to friends who may want to subscribe to D-Mail.

I got a recent letter. Maybe a computer screw up as they revive the old mailing list.

113. OK my bad.
I got the troops one, but not the volunteer one. The troops one went to the home addy, but I also used to receive others only at work. They tend to get caught in the ol' spam filter. I won't know if I received that until tomorrow morning. Ooh, but I hope so. It just tickles me that they're sending out anything at all. Wonder what it's all about...

120. I received two of them also...
One was the Kerry letter (from the Kerry campaign?) posted here, and the other was from MoveOn. I received them within a few minutes of each other. Both were about donating money for phone cards for the troops in Iraq.

124. It might be a scam
The similarity of the messages, and especially those asking for money, smacks of scam to me. Please be careful.

I have not gotten any messages. If I did, I would look at the message headers to see where it really came from. It is easy for scammers to forge email addresses, but not all of the headers can be forged.

Please post the message headers from the emails you are getting. There might be many lines, so focus on the "From" line and "Received" lines.
