4. Yeah, but Kevin!
Who are we supposed to believe? You and your facts and the facts of so many hard working and committed people, or the gloomy nay-sayers amongst us? ;-)

Who would never, ever, ever, ever, ever hide their agenda...much.

13. We had a MEETING with Senate Staff Today >> You Can TOO!
Calls, letters, telegrams, faxes, carrier pigeon...all good actions!

BUT BEST, is personal meeting with staff or Senator themselves.

We met with NJ Senators' staff today to make the case. They are definitely interested in the whys and wherefores for objecting.

You can find some at our FAQ page: www.deanpeople.org

You can email us for more help: thedeanpeople@comcast.net

But get a meeting if you can. If you're a contributor, demand one. Sit in the outer office until someone will see you. Use all your remotest personal contacts (didn't your sister's friend once date the senator?).

Now's the time to call in all chits.

Stress the consequences of FAILURE to ACT (yet again). Let them know the train is leaving and they'll be left at the station. Do whatever you can.

www.thedeanpeople.org

(Become one of "thedeanpeople," the ones who stop thinking what "they" should be doing, and start doing it for them. The ones that scare the crap out of the toadies in DC. Trust us, it feels great!)

(The opinions expressed on the website are not necessarily those of the site visitors. Although we haven't run into that case as of yet.)

19. I am very impressed
that you did that. I would like to hear more about that.

I have been doing some calling and tons of emailin, in fact I sent out emails from PDA for about 14 other people today and in the recent past. I love having a voice times14. it is all people that would like to write (email) but are either to lazy or don't have access to computers. So it helps them out bt makes me feel great(empowered.)

Kudos to you though for actually going out and meeting with your senator, now that they will remember.

33. About the meeting itself...
...there isn't much "story."

The staff was interested, took notes, asked questions. Seemed to go well. As for result, who knows. But we'll be following up of course.

As to getting a meeting, actually seeing the Senator is not likely. Though that really depends on where you are. Some are far busier than others. But if you make clear that staff would be acceptable, it's certainly better than any other message.

We have intructions on our website about how to go about it. Written request, follow call, etc... www.thedeanpeople.org

And although we do it with some humor, we are serious in asking everyone to try to exploit any personal connections they have or can find. The "degrees of separation" from someone whose call a Senator might take themself is often quite short. It pays to ask around among friends, family, etc.

But emailing and faxing is certainly very important. Any message, from as many people who are willing, will help move the ball.

18. Now that was quick and painless!
I added to my message:

I implore you to stand up with other Senators and Represenatives on January 6th, and challenge the electoral vote count. A war is being fought in Iraq because our administration has insisted that it is our duty to spread democracy and to insure that they have free, fair and open elections. Sixty million dollars has been spent in an effort to insure the democratic voting process in Ukraine and, our administration condemned the outcome of the first election because the results did not match the exit polls.

Yet, the election process as conducted in our great nation is flawed, so flawed that it evident that election fraud, voter intimidation and disenfranchisement and literal theft of votes has occurred and now it appears that the wrong candidate has been declared the winner, despite the fact that the results totally conflict the exit polls. How can our nation be promoting democracy and democratic elections abroad but close its collective eyes to the misdeeds and fraud at home? Stand up for democracy for the citizens of the United States.

The misallocation of voting machines (especially in Ohio), the abuse of provisional balloting in numerous states, and the refusal and/or inability to conduct the recount in an open and auditable manner in Ohio, in Florida, New Mexico and in so many other key states, should be cause enough to determine the certified electors should not be seated.

I implore you to do what you were elected to do, represent the citizens of the United States. Take a stand and please join with the other Congress members to make a serious voting rights challenge the entire world will hear. Stand up and fight for the voting rights of African- Americans, Latinos, and the youth voters who appear to have been targeted for disruption and disenfranchisement in the 2004 election.

January 6th is the day when you can make a statement about your commitment to every American’s right to vote and have it be counted. Let’s show the world what we mean when we talk about true democracy.

20. kevin your actions
are working too. when you come on this board and remind us all to take action, you are influencing and reminding many of the website that makes it easy to send out those action requests. I am on the PDA email list but really apprecaite you efforts to come over here and have us all do this too. there are many other activist leaders on this board I would put you up there with Tom Mccintyre and William Rivers Pitt and other motivators. so keep coming back I for one appreciate the reminders. There are lots more that do it that don't write "Done."

Thanks

I can never use that button in conjunction w/ my email list. I have to do a lot of copying and pasting and then send out individual emails to my email list. Please take the time to do this if you experience similiar problems. A lot of my email list was unaware of the things going on until I talked to them about it. They are now on board in droves! I hope our senators will be too. It is time to take back America for "We the People!"
