Call for action: Get all state electors to follow Vermont’s example!

This is a great opportunity to make a potentially big impact before January 6.

I’ve been busy gathering contact info for the state electors from Wisconsin (which I am going to post on the Wisconsin board). Here is a link to find out who the electors are in your state:

In the process of researching on our state electors, I found this -

...and a post from ‘Don’ who is working with MoveOn.org, to try to start a national appeal to our Electoral College to “save us from a stolen election”. He says, “Our Constitution (the closest thing to a perfect document we'll ever know) gives us the mechanism to deal with the outrage of a blatantly stolen election, only no one has yet had the guts and the opportunity to use it! The College has always been seen as an impediment to a true expression of the popular will here is the perfect and obvious way to make it work as it should work, as a counter-force against an arrogant, incompetent, fascistic and ruthless group of ideologues who would have us believe that, if they can steal it, God wants them to have it!!”

And further, “Here is where the wisdom of the Electoral College can shine through for the first time in our history. An unscrupulous state Attorney General can obstruct a re-count, and a doubtful, intimidated Supreme Court can indeed fail us as well. But a thoughtful, conscientious Electoral College can look upon all this and say, "Sorry, boys, not this time." And thereby make history.”

He gives a sample letter that was written to the Democratic Party and Electors, and invites us to use any part of it in communicating with newspapers, Electors, Congressional reps, etc.

1. This is a great idea! How can we make this into a DU action plan?

Can we create some sort of master list of every state so that we can start a massive campaign blast to all of the electors? Let me know - let us know (hope it's ok that I speak for others!) how we can help!

2. I hope we can get more people on this bandwagon!

I just posted all the info for Wisconsin on that state's board. I'd be glad to help compile contact data for other states! Must do some last minute Christmas stuff now, though. See the "greenpages" link for your own state's electors, and take those names to Google--that is how I found our contact info.

4. Come On! Come On! Come On! Electoral College Knows What's Right!

In December of 2000, when Justice Scalia decided to go against the law and vote in favor of stopping the count in Florida, he and the others who voted the same way said in essence, "The Electoral College is the only voting tally which matters. The popular vote is irrelevant."

It's our turn to use that sophistry against the repukes in Congress.

Let's go get 'em, people!
