John Conyers may be the person who saves America's Democracy
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 07:04 PM by scottxyz
He's going to be the Man of the Year for 2005.

I think the Senate is going to go along with an inquiry this time,” said Conyers. “I don't think they would embarrass themselves to let this happen two times in a row… I just don't think the Senate would get caught in that position.”

3. Let History say so!
His focus and tenacity can not be ignored -- if anyone is doing God's work it's Conyers and not Bush.

8. I second all of the above
He has got to be a very brave man and I believe that he well deserves to be Man of the year and the century for that matter.

4. Conyers bio
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 07:22 PM by Clark2008
Having entered the House of Representatives in 1964, Mr. Conyers is the second most senior member in the House of Representatives and was elected by his congressional colleagues to lead the Democratic side of the pivotal House Committee on the Judiciary. In addition to its oversight of the Department of Justice (including the FBI) and the Federal Courts, the Judiciary Committee has jurisdiction over copyright, constitutional, consumer protection, and civil rights issues. Congressman Conyers was also a member of the Judiciary Committee in its 1974 hearings on the Watergate impeachment scandal and played a prominent role in the recent impeachment process, giving him the distinction as the only Judiciary Committee Member to have served on both panels.

23. CONYERS FOR PREZ 2012!!
(After JK completes his two terms, that is...)

Conyers is the man who thwarted the Radical Rightwing's attempted coup on the Clinton Presidency (the last legitimate presidency we've had).

NGU.

24. Unfortunately, I think the senate will go along with the APPEARANCE
of an investigation. But until real, hard evidence is proven, I don't think much will happen, other than a pithy attempt at "election reform."

I am hoping and praying that I am wrong.

26. Lets put Jesse Jackson up there as another great American interested
in saving Democracy. I am really impressed with him for his involvement in all this and his speaking out. He may have played a major role in moving Kerry to where he is now.

How about letting Edwards take care of his personal business and have Conyers serve as VP?
