Went out to dinner last night...got some spaghetti at a good italian restaraunt...Everyone was nice...everyone was smiling. Strangers I sat next to while waiting for the table were courteous and friendly. When I was seated, the waitress greeted me with a smile and brought my drink in less than a minute. A lady was singing happy birthday in italian to someone a few tables down from me...She got applause from everyone when she finished. Even though I know 60% of the people in the restaraunt voted Bush, I still had a nice evening. I walked out of the restaraunt, bresthed the fresh autumn air, and drove up to the bookstore to read some anti-bush books and get a nice vanilla latte from starbucks.
Life goes on.

Went to play trivia at my local pub...a couple of beers, and some fun with some local eccentrics...I feel a LOT better today...still melancholy this morning, but ready to start fighting again...
Life does indeed go on...

things don't change overnight, the shock to the nation would be too great, it would fraction and bring civil war. Changes creep into our daily lives in an insidious manner. We've already 'accepted' that the press is horribly controlled and spews propaganda. We accepted the outright theft of the election in 2000 and are on our way to swallowing the fact that we lost this one 'fairly' too. We accept the Patriot act as a tool against terrorism, and we accept its use to spy on the civil liberties of US citizens. (and when I say 'we' I mean the majority of people who are really blind to what goes on in this country. I know most of us are too well informed to swallow that kind of bullshit) Tell me at what point will the facade of life going on as normal stop? When you can no longer go out for a meal without passing through a 'security checkpoint' and having your papers checked, will that be accepted too. We must be very careful of starting down a slippery slope, blind to the subtle changes in our lifestyles. We must work hard to ensure the next post isn't, 'I couldn't find any anti-bush literature' or even worse, 'got arrested for reading some once'.

8. Yes and you are not going to like this |
|
But if you are not heart broken, then I don't know how "Left" you are. I'm probably more "right" than you, but I went to bed early(after finally really crying) and couldn't even watch TV. Yes, I love, TV-I'm mainstream, I don't have a kill my TV bumpersticker.
I don't even want to look anyone in the eye-it hurts so bad-and I live in place where 75% voted for Kerry!
That's me. If you don't feel that Democracy or this country is seriously in trouble then the LEFT needs to change.

turned on her favorite reality shows and sat there blissfully watching them. Yesterday when I told her Bush won she got mad for about 10 minutes. Life goes on.

restaurant come and get it. So, no restaurants for me. But I do my best to not upset my kid with my anger/depression. I was walking by Ground Zero yesterday - and I heard on the radio how Kerry conceded. Your post has a similar effect on me - only I am at home. Enjoy your Pleasantville.

People who think "life goes on" had better enjoy it while they can. As for me, although I'm retired and live financially from retirement check to retirement check, I'm going to start stockpiling food and saving what little bit of money I can.
