NY Times letter says voting company rep. manipulated tabulator

December 26, 2004

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/26/opinion/l26vote.html

To the Editor:

There are serious charges that voters in Ohio were systematically disenfranchised by violations of state and federal voting laws through, among other things, manipulation of the vote tabulator by a representative of the company that created the software.

Our American press, inexplicably, has been thunderously silent.

The Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee have been conducting hearings into many of these problems. There is a likelihood that the report of the presidential electors from Ohio, due on Jan. 6 to Congress, will be challenged.

The list of what should be blockbuster media stories is long and growing. But these stories are not out there. As a result, most Americans don't know as much about serious, credible charges of the theft of democracy as about what happened in Ukraine.
William F. Hewitt
New York, Dec. 20, 2004

Do you think he's talking about Triad?

2. Who was responsible for Default to Bush fraud in New Mex. & Flordia
Who likely would be responsible for the documented vote machine default to Bush manipulation seen in the EIRS cases for Florida and New Mexico? Manufacturer reps or county officials or both?

5. Why now??
NY Times must have gotten a whole passel of these letters over the last few weeks and they have competely ignored them. Wonder why they started publishing them now. Perhaps William F. Hewitt has clout?

19. follow the link; it gets better
There's actually a nice collection of letters, all saying stuff that should have been in the press ages ago. Maybe since the NY Times knows that things are about to heat up, both at Kerry's end and in Washington on Jan. 6, they're starting to allow the story to develop.

I keep saying the Triad story is BIGGER than Watergate and yet it's getting almost no press. It ought to be one of the major scandals of this first half of the 21st century.

(This is my first DU post, so be nice, please.)

23. Minorjive -- Welcome! Also, since you are brand new you might want
to know about a post a few weeks ago. It was from a person who witnessed the Watergate story break. Apparently, people who read the independent Boston newspaper "The Beacon" knew in detail about Watergate for 6+ months before Woodward and Bernstein 'broke' the story for the Washington Post. (Sorry, can't find the post...). They said that it was a relief, finally, when it finally made it into the mainstream media.

So, no matter, how long it takes for the story to break - have faith, it will break.

Which is hardly a "manipulation," IMHO.

13. I can't believe the times...
doesn't have a couple of people on this. They must be looking for the smoking gun. They must be.

If anyone in the MSM is going to break this story, it will be them.

--the whole election fraud thing--since Nov 2. At least a few writers. We're losing precious time, and we need MSM.

16. The story has already been broken in the MSM
On Keith Olbermann's show.

Still, I do agree with your assertion that the Times SHOULD have someone working on this.

If they don't, what good are they?

26. the NYT
will file something when they have something. They are not a part of the real time newsmakers aka cable news. If they are digging, they will find something and expose it.

I have a little faith left....

17. Yes Triad...Saw a couple of those big wigs one from CBS on CSPAN
today. Couldn't stand either one. Saw someone I admire there today too, but I am so bad with names in my old age that I forget, he was giving them hell and they had the audacity to give him the brush off right in front of the cameras. Guess they must know not many tune into CSPAN in the middle of the afternoon. Some interesting questions were asked, I should have posted that it was on, so if it repeats I will.

27. I think they know the story is coming out and they want to say they
put it out there for the public to the point that they were writing letters into them. This is very good news, glad to see it.
