Reality Check - Thieves Don't Return Stolen Goods
Have you ever known a thief to return what he stole?

Have you lost count of how many times in the past four years your reaction to the news was: "Unbelievable!"?

Have you accepted that all bets are off and nothing should come as a surprise anymore?

Be ruthlessly honest with yourself and admit that almost nothing discussed here on DU even comes close to what it will take to get * out because staying is his unique goal and we can't fully imagine what means may support this end.

The recounts and other unsettled business relating to the 2004 "election" *may* contribute to the ultimate inner collapse of "the system." If not, we should not expect much benefit from these exercises. If so, we can finally begin the real struggle.

How would you know if a revolution had begun?

How would you know if a civil war had begun?

How do you know they both haven't already started?

Will Pitt: please divert your attention to beginning and quantifying the beginning of the undeniably necessary revolution. Everything else is minutia.

5. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
by Gil Scott-Heron

You will not be able to stay home, brother.
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out.
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip,
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox
In 4 parts without commercial interruptions.
The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon
blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John
Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat
hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be brought to you by the
Schaefer Award Theatre and will not star Natalie
Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia.
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal.
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs.
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
thinner, because the revolution will not be televised, Brother.

There will be no pictures of you and Willie May
pushing that shopping cart down the block on the dead run,
or trying to slide that color television into a stolen ambulance.
NBC will not be able predict the winner at 8:32
or report from 29 districts.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of Whitney Young being
run out of Harlem on a rail with a brand new process.
There will be no slow motion or still life of Roy
Wilkens strolling through Watts in a Red, Black and
Green liberation jumpsuit that he had been saving
For just the proper occasion.

Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville
Junction will no longer be so damned relevant, and
women will not care if Dick finally gets down with
Jane on Search for Tomorrow because Black people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock
news and no pictures of hairy armed women
liberationists and Jackie Onassis blowing her nose.
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb,
Francis Scott Key, nor sung by Glen Campbell, Tom
Jones, Johnny Cash, Englebert Humperdink, or the Rare Earth.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be right back after a message
about a white tornado, white lightning, or white people.
You will not have to worry about a dove in your
bedroom, a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution will put you in the driver's seat.

The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run brothers;
The revolution will be live.

12. Yes! Yes! Yes! The Revolution will not be televised...
Been years since I've seen this referenced. Brother Gil was wise before his time (still is). The MSM will not televise it... but we might just be along later to flip the switch!

6. Oh, no? They get much more cash from a retail outlet
than they do from a fence.

It has become a tactic among thieves.

14. Watergate wasn't a civil war or revolution per se but it still worked
I don't see why this election fraud investigation couldn't produce the same effect on the same trajectory -- more and more criminal behavior is patiently brought to light, hearings are convened, criminal charges are filed, the press eventually takes the hint and plays along, and presto.

15. WE must act, not hope someone else will
I realize you are citing Watergate as an example of a self-correction in "the system." This is not Watergate and the media are not independent to the extent they were then.

Look at more recent precedent and you are basically encouraging us to watch the grass grow while we wait for a leopard to change its spots.

Take some responsibility for what YOU can do, for what WE can do together by being proactive, and by being honest with ourselves about what is the nature of the problem, what we can expect from other entities, and how committed we are to the things we say we believe in.

Do not accept hypocrisy or contradiction. This is where we let ourselves be trampled upon. This is where the Orwellian doublethink creates cognitive dissonance.

Check out the No Confidence Movement.

24. It was a different press then
It had more independence then. Maybe it just cared more. Maybe it was "hungrier" not so sated on its corporate throne. Maybe it was just less entangled in the corpocracy web. Whatever... it was different then.

18. Since you asked...
though it is not related to the election I have twice had a thief return what they stole from me.

But I would give up that purse and the emerald ring that were returned to me in years past...to have a different outcome of this fiasco. I am not sure it works that way though.

Though part of my focus is things must be changed for the sake of future elections I honestly can't bear the thought of what this administration may do over the next four years.

19. Thieves don't keep their ill gotten gains
if they are caught and the goodies are retrieved.
If election fraud is proven before January 20, * cannot take the office, no matter what the electoral votes were because Ohio's were fraudulent.
This would mean either a re-vote in Ohio, or Kerry will take office.

20. Perhaps I should have said...
Thieves don't *willingly* give back what they have stolen. Again, consider how many times the news has seemed past the point of what you had considered possible. These guys aren't going to go down easy. I'm sure we can agree on that.

And so the point is, don't count on them to give up and don't expect the MSM to all of a sudden start acting against their own self interest. It is like expecting a leopard to change its spots.

In fact, don't base any of your activism on what you think you can prompt others to do - think instead about what YOU and WE can do to reclaim power which rightfully belongs to us.

It is time we refuse to recognize this illegitimate election and regime. It is time that we withdraw the Consent of the Governed, which after all, is hardly being sought.

Massive non-cooperation has to begin somewhere and the smallest and easiest level on which to make this happen is in our own minds. This is not empty rhetoric. This is how we begin to be ruthlessly honest with ourselves - rejecting the hypocrisy and contradictions that create the Orwellian cognitive dissonance.

There is no basis for confidence in the legitimacy of US federal elections. See: The No Confidence Movement.

23. You're right, GuvWurld....the time has come.
If there isn't some SERIOUS activity in the Legislature on Jan. 6, BESIDES bending over, then....

well, we'll know the time has come.
