Clear Channel refuses to air Right to Vote ad, and 6 other ads
My Fight With Clear Channel

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION
by Robert Millman

Like a lot of people, I think our country is in trouble. Fundamental issues about war and social equity are largely ignored by the main stream media.

I decided I had to do something about it, for myself and my family's sake, and set out to create a series of thirty second audio recordings, Issue Ads to frame basic questions about our country. With the help of my wife and several like minded friends I produced seven "Paid Radio Moments," and contacted WGY, the big AM radio station in Albany, New York. It should be no surprise that WGY is a Clear Channel station.

You have ABSOLUTELY NAILED 7 major points against the BushCo Regime's ideology.

(Aside from evoking the flavor of the Gola Wolf Richards' "Motto Citizens" ads, these are totally NOT wordy and obtuse. :) )

If you can find an outlet that will accept them, I will send you a donation as soon as I have a job.... promise!

KICK!

2. Ads by Robert Millman, not me
I have re-read his article on BuzzFlash, and Millman is looking for another radio station to play his ads. Unfortunately, I don't see how to contact him directly.

3. I think we should show our dissent by writing
"contest the Ohio vote" on a $1 bill and ask three other like-minded people to do the same and have them ask three people and so on.

Get those bills circulating out there and they'll find out how many of us "kooks" are really out there.

5. KICK! Let's crank up the media blaster to protest this.
Can you post the e-mail address for the station and also an e-mail contact for Clear Channel's corporate office? We need to bombard them with complaints.

Also you should notify your local newspaper, TV stations, and alternative publications in town of the radio station's blatant refusal to air even paid ads informing the public about voting fraud issues.

7. Warning signs of fascism, #6: A controlled mass media.
"Under some of the regimes, the mass media were under strict direct control and could be relied upon never to stray from the party line. Other regimes exercised more subtle power to ensure media orthodoxy. Methods included the control of licensing and access to resources, economic pressure, appeals to patriotism, and implied threats. The leaders of the mass media were often politically compatible with the power elite. The result was usually success in keeping the general public unaware of the regimes’ excesses."

This was taken from "Fascism, Anyone?", by Laurence W. Britt, who gives 14 Warning signs of fascism, and states, "For the purpose of this perspective, I will consider the following regimes: Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Franco’s Spain, Salazar’s Portugal, Papadopoulos’s Greece, Pinochet’s Chile, and Suharto’s Indonesia. To be sure, they constitute a mixed bag of national identities, cultures, developmental levels, and history. But they all followed the fascist or protofascist model in obtaining, expanding, and maintaining power. Further, all these regimes have been overthrown, so a more or less complete picture of their basic characteristics and abuses is possible.

Analysis of these seven regimes reveals fourteen common threads that link them in recognizable patterns of national behavior and abuse of power. These basic characteristics are more prevalent and intense in some regimes than in others, but they all share at least some level of similarity.
