If you can not be In DC on the 6th....
I suggest that you send flowers to your Congresspersons and Senators.

Can you imagine with me a floral carpet throughout the offices of the Senate and Congress? Since they are hand delivered, the staff will have to do something with them. Senator, you have 3 dozen bouquets out here...

I also suggest 5 words for the card: Protect and Defend the Constitution.

-Hoot

26. Amusing, but it won't work.
I work in a federal office down the street from the Capitol, and I can tell you something about what happens to anything physically delivered to federal offices. I don't know exact details and would not be at liberty to tell you if I did, but let's just say that if you send me a CD the jewel case arrives as a molten mass. If you send me a letter, it looks about 600 years old and falls apart when opened. There is also a 2-week delay.

47. Um, ok, but...
I'm considering it being delivered in person by a florist employee. I understand that they nuke the mail.

Doesen't Congress have an internal florist? They have a barber shop and a bank in the basement. I guess I'll have to google it.

I think that the card should read, "Defend the Constitution - Protest the Election Fraud" or something like that.

25. Well, the CA poppies aren't going to do well as bouquet or potted plants
but the others will be fine. Actually Chinese Lanterns and orange straw flowers would do well in a dried arrangement, and therefore last that much longer.

All hail the power of sending dead flowers. *g*

Absolutely, simply, positively perfect!!! They should be sent to arrive on the 5th, right? So they will have the night to think about it.

9. Screw security! ;)
I can't be there on the 6th and I can't be in Ohio on the 3rd. This is something I can do. I can send flowers to Senators. I can make a statement that way. :)

Maybe they'll recognize my name from all of the faxes that I sent via www.thedeanpeople.org!

12. Why?
There is plenty going on throughout the country.

I think those of us who cannot be in DC on the 6th should ALL be attending demonstrations closest to us and forget about the flowers unless we have plenty of extra money for that.

Imagine seeing (at least on C-SPAN) massive demonstrations in ALL 50 states!

Isn't the point of the demonstration to get the attention of the Congress?

I was trying to come up with something concrete that a staffer has to deal with and can't just file away.

28. I have no secret special knowledge. Just a gut feeling. She
was just re-elected, and it seemed to me that her backing even here in SF is sort of tepid.

Diane might as well be a Republican, ties to defense through her husband, and to Big Parma through Magellan Health.

But, I won't quit asking. And flowers are a great idea.

Just focus on one or two and send them emails or faxes. Don't give up.

Heck, I have Libby freaking Dole and Edwards. Edwards is with Elizabeth and Libby is a Rethug. So, I'm concentrating on other Senators - heck, even the ones with R behind their names.

31. I Think It is an Excellent Idea!
Tomorrow is a Federal Holiday. I don’t know whether Senator Jefford’s office in Rutland, Vermont is open, but, I am reasonably sure that the good Senator would have a good chance of being in the state of his constituency (Vermont).

His home base Vermont office is located 2 ½ blocks from me. I have sat in a chair getting a haircuts when he was getting his. I graduated from high school in 1969 with one of his staff who works in this office.

I viewed a showing of “Fahrenheit 911” in the same theatre as he and his wife did last summer. He was only two rows in front of me.

When he was the Attorney General of Vermont, at a local state college in the early seventies, he gave a speech to the student body. Afterward, he held a voter registration session giving the Vermont’s "Freeman's Oath", now called the “Voter's Oath”.

I’ll check out his office tomorrow with a letter and a simple floral arrangement.

43. If any of you are in close proximaty to any of your Senator's "local"..
office, avoid the the "beltway", and try to go within your state on a local level. Bring the flowers and a letter to the staff which represents the Senators of your state. Make some personal contact!!!!

KISS! For those who are in an area where it is possible. Chances are that most of these Senators are either in their home state during the holidays or, in a very warm Carribean Island on vacation.
