33. He always seems a bit more supportive in the blog than he seems willing
to on the show. Perhaps he is feels less pressure there being out on a limb with us foilies.

The first part about the vacationers who are just now getting to Thailand for some sunbathing is positively ghoulish. I cannot believe people are so unfeeling. How can they vacation there NOW. Unreal.

I sure hope Conyers has a Senator in his back pocket on this one that we just don't know about yet. If no Senator objects on January 6th, like 2000, I just don't know if I will retain my sanity. The very least they can do is send a message to Pretzel boy that he has NO FUCKING MANDATE.

Cheers to KO for blogging about it. I hope he reports on it tonight. Here's a premature floataculation for him just in case.

2. My pipe dream, a large one.
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 05:53 PM by rzemanfl
Kerry will be in Iraq on 1/6/05. In my dream, he tells the troops he is their duly elected commander-in-chief and that they should start packing to go home. He asks for a cease-fire by all parties and safe conduct for our troops to their ports of embarkation. France, Russia, Germany and others provide transports. Then he leads his army on Washington and kicks * and his crew out.

This is kind of ancient Roman, but would the the rest of the Army, Air Force and Navy really fight fellow Americans for the sake of that asshole *?

7. Keith has been building my respect for quite some time.
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 05:58 PM by Just Me
I swear,...I am in total mourning over the massive post-tsunami devastation. I've repeatedly emailed every friend, family member and constituent to please give generously,...particularly to UNICEF and/or IRC because they are best able to provide direct and quick aid.

With respect to the search for A senator,...I appeal to Bob Byrd to step up to the plate. Hell,...he has nothing to lose and everything to gain at the end of his very long road of public service.

14. Wouldn't it be fitting for the one senator
who began his political career as a racist Dixiecrat - a former Klansman, who went through a long process of personal reform to be the ONE senator who saves the disenfranchized minority their right to democracy?

Talk about irony.

Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 07:21 PM by Just Me
I greatly admire those who expand/evolve beyond their former selves.

I embrace those who CHOOSE to do so.

While we suffer a leadership that is spinning the wheels of human advancement BACKWARD,...I support all those who have moved forward and who have developed a REAL belief in human potential.

Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 06:24 PM by Clark2008
Those were the three, right?

I also e-mailed him a hum-dinger of a story out of my state today to use in his Oddball or Top 3 countdown. It's a hoot!

NASHVILLE - Starting Saturday, Tennessee drug dealers and moonshiners will also become Tennessee tax dodgers unless they've purchased new stamps now available at state Department of Revenue offices.

"The way this is set up, once anyone comes into possession of an illegal substance, they have 48 hours to purchase a stamp," said Al Laney, the department's director of tax enforcement.

The taxpayer needs only to say what sort of illegal substance he or she possesses and how much, then pay the appropriate amount of money - $50 per gram for cocaine, for example. The person need not give a name and the law provides that purchase of the stamp will be kept confidential and forbids revenue officials from asking any questions.

Laney said, however, that "we don't expect a lot of people to walk in off the street and buy these stamps."

ROFLMAO!! I guess this is how us red staters try to get tax money. :P

27. Can't wait for Thurs!!
Will MSM cover this live? I'm guessing they'll be at least one, probably more Senators signing on... the time has come to expose this bastard administration for what they are! Everyday - and I MEAN everyday I think of our poor soldiers dying for a LIE and nothing is being done to stop these guys or hold them accountable...

I got Going Upriver for Xmas and I was just so damned depressed after seeing it...Kerry NEEDS to be President and it was stolen from him, I'm convinced...

Meanwhile, over 2000 Americans are missing in Asia and we give only 35 mil and Bush stays on vacation??? He disgusts me...

29. I loved that movie
I am now reading "Tour of Duty". I think little shrub is going to reap the rewards of what he has sewn. *, the only President to be re-selected with less than a 50% approval rating.

I have to believe that we will be able to stop him, and I do. There are many that are fighting to expose the truth, and the truth will come out. Americans are dense, but they are not stupid. Too many people have been personally affected by *'s crimes. Even if he takes office on Jan 20th, there is a civil war brewing within the Republican Party

Everything that we can do to expose * for what he is, deprives him of that much power. Every time someone in his administration opens their mouth, they disgust that many more Americans. Shrubbies days are numbered. As the truth is exposed, bit by bit, watch the rats flee the ship. It will be a show that I will not dare miss.

35. Ted Kennedy, by all rights, should be the Senator to sign that letter.
He has been Kerry's friend and mentor since Kerry stood up and protested the Vietnam War. If Kerry paid a price for that protest, all these many years later, then Kennedy should bear part of that burden and do the right thing for his friend.

It was corruption which killed John Kennedy, it was corruption which killed Robert Kennedy, and it was his own scandal which led to the political undoing of Ted Kennedy's aspirations for president. I believe, in a sense, that John Kerry is Ted Kennedy's alter ego.

I can only hope that Ted Kennedy will hear the faint echo of his brother's words across the decades, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

Ted Kennedy, you can become a hero to the cause, or you can look into your conscience and decide that you are a coward. It's your decision. But if you fail your friend, I hope you are never able to look into his eyes again.

I step down off my soapbox and commend K.O. for a decent write-up of Conyers' letter, and an empathetic but not maudlin report of the tsunami devastation.
