Can we have a FloatyHeart-free KO thread? |
|
I don't get MSNBC, but I love reading Bloggermann. I like using DU to see what was on the show, and although the Floaty hearts are cute and all, I really would like to find out what he SAID rather than scroll through 200 posts of what color his tie was, what color his eyes are, etc etc.
I'm not criticizing, I think it's hilarious! I just wish we GUYS could have a separate thread, because I'm on dial-up and I really am interested in what the guy actually said. Especially tonight.
Can someone tell me what he said?
Or at least keep the floaty hearts to a minimum?
Thanks!

I highly recommend his novel Time Enough for Love. Shocking to the Conservatives, and even to some Liberals, but really makes you think. If nothing else, worth for the Excerpt from the Notebook of Lazarus Long - memorable quotes from one of his characters. Some insightful, some just dam funny!
Oh, he's the same guy who wrote Stranger in a Strange Land. MUST reading!

This is 2004 Election Results and Discussion not the lonely hearts club. Lately it's been time consuming filtering through the garbage that just doesn't belong in this forum. Du is loaded with forums designed for just about ever conceivable thing that your lil heart desires. Try taking this to the Lounge.
Thanks, many will appreciate it.

Just blowing off steam, I guess. I am afraid to count on a Senator to come forward although they all should. The ghost of 2000 in the hearings shown in Fahrenheit 9/11 of no one coming forward. I have written my senators as well as other state's senators. The gag order it seems is on the media.
I am leary of putting too much hope in. Forgive my attempt at levity...

Just understand we have forums keyed towards certain discussion. Lately (probably due to the fact Skinner is off for the holiday) this forum has been loaded down with stuff that really has nothing at all to do with the 2004 election. Trying to come in and read through the mess is time consuming and something many off us here just aren't used to dealing with.
Thanks

51. Seriously lighten up. I've got plenty of on-topic serious posts under my |
|
belt. The KO thread that you speak so disparagingly of is one silly, friendly, funny, 'let steam off' thread a day, and we do talk about the show and what he's saying. If you need to avoid it, or post another 'substantial' 'on topic' Countdown thread then by all means do so.

on some things. the people in this forum have become pretty close, and it's hard to take a thread from here with all of our comments on it and just have it thrown into a forum where either no one cares, or they are clueless and would rather talk about how their dog tried to steal food from the dinner table. (not that there's anything wrong with that)

No, too close to KOEB! How about What The Hell Did KO Actually Say; WTHDKOAS? Nope. Too long. I'll think of something, or somebody will. The important thing is that we had an open discussion and agreed on a compromise... The way our country was built. Funny how some people forget that, huh? Especially those who think they have a "mandate" and "political capital" but still have the lowest approval ratings (how DID * get re-elected? Oh, yeah, he didn't. Never mind!). ANYWAY! I'll keep watching for the KOEB postings to remind me when it actually comes on, and then I'll start posting the What Did He Say? postings. What a Country!

59. So Anyway - this thread actually did stay pretty much on topic - |
|
The Topic was Can we have a FloatyHeart-free KO thread? And I think we covered it fairly well.
Perhaps the topic belonged elsewhere but the thread was quite coherent.
That said, I do sympathize with the dial-in users. Been there. Done that. And once you go broadband you tend to forget that problem.
So, being a lady, I'll try to do better with graphics in major info threads. K?

14. Tips on floaty hearts in the KO thread |
|
In my experience, the floaty hearts are thickest
1. at the beginning of the thread, where people are checking in and exchanging hopeful speculations about the program
2. during commercials
3. after the program, when people are expressing whatever amount of gratitude for the coverage is deemed appropriate
When KO is actually discussing topics of interest to us, the people watching give clear, concise reports. So the floaty hearts aren't getting in the way of the news, they're in the spaces before, after and between the news.
I don't have cable either, so I really appreciate the thread. And I get a kick from the FH's and have been known to post a few myself. Tonight Conyers and Will Pitt got some too.

Actually, the EB posts has some of the most entertaining posts on DU!

I too, would rather save my floatie hearts for Kerry. In fact a separate floatie hearts thread should be somewhere with the pool pic at the top. John Kerry group I guess.

|
picked up a copy of Time to look at 'pool pic' in person...and was disappointed to find it was a "centerfold" pic, divided right between JK's eyes?! So distracting! Whose 'editorial' decision was that, I wonder? (I much preferred the version of it that was posted here several times...WITHOUT the seam!)
For those who'd not yet seen it: I left the magazine prominently displayed in the store OPEN to JK's pool pic! Sometimes, the best things in life should be shared! :)

60. What other KO thread? You mean there's a nightly meeting? |
|

But I might have to bring up a very sensitive issue.......

Will we be having 2 separate Countdown threads from now on?

If they don't start their own thread then they shouldn't complain about it.
Here's to the KOEB! :toast:

Used to be a time when KO threads had NO hearts in them, only good info and discussion.
Maybe the heart people can post KO threads in the Lounge? Fashion and hearts and flowers really don't belong in this forum. imo

70. A floaty heart question that I hope someone can answer... |
|
How come I don't see floaty hearts in most of the posts that claim to have 'em? I see yellow smiley faces instead of hearts. I had my eyes checked today, so I know there's nothing wrong with them, and every so often there *is* a heart or two .... but I see approx. a zillion yellow faces every time KO threads appear.

87. While you certainly correct |
|
There was more election news on KO then. He was interviewing Kathy and Jesse and Craig Crawford and even that vile Repug Rep who was blah, blah, blahing.
To be fair he hasn't reported as much as we'd have liked, but there was also very little news.
When there's news we talk about the news. Peace.

1. KO is the only MSM reporter consistently reporting on the 2004 Election "Issues" (translation: FRAUD) 2. Whenever Countdown comes on, we need 2 threads: one to report on the report itself, one to, well, er, "whatever". 3. The first thread mentioned above will be very informative. The second thread will be a lot more entertaining. 4. The DU Lounge is ok, but the drinks are watered down and the music sux. KO is reporting on the 2004 Elecetion, so the 2004 Election Forum is appropriate for KO threads until he stops reporting on it. 5. The women in the KO "Estrogen Brigade" are HOT! 6. I am officially jealoous of KO. 7. Patsy Stone will bite, but only under the right circumstances (Patsy, I just got divorced, CALL ME!). 8. I finally had a post that got enough replies to get the flames icon! THANK YOU KO! 9. DU'ers can be nice, have serious discussions and have fun at the same time.

student. I'm interested in the martial arts, but more as a form of meditation than defense. I'm considering taking Tai-Chi, but I'm just curious about your "take" on martial arts in general.
I have been a "spiritual wanderer" for years, but I think I'm actually a Daoist.
You seem a very "balanced" person, and I'm interested in pretty much anything you have to say. Even if I happen to disagree, at the time! :-)

Oh, and someone other than the KOEB will be needed to start the non-floaty-hearts-thread. :D

The thread has long since outlived any useful purpose that may be even remotely relevant to the subject matter of this forum.
