Keep a candle burning until 1/6
We have one week to go.

Join me in a simple act of keeping a candle burning from now until then.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL, I DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY HOUSE FIRES.

As I post this message I'm lighting a candle. When it is nearly burned out, I will light another candle with the same flame, and attempt to keep the same flame burning until 1/6.

Why? What is this for?

Let the candle and flame take on whatever meaning fits for you.

For me, I will keep the candle in a conspicuous place, and when I see it I will focus positive thoughts toward the day of January 6th.

Also for me, the flame is a symbol and reminder of the fire in many of our hearts that keeps us up at night, seeking the truth, and doing everything we can to correct an injustice. We will not rest.

I ask you to join me in lighting a candle, and keeping a symbolic flame burning until January 6th.

by the way, the first candle I chose to light is a small votive that is blueberry flavored. I chose it because I love blueberries, and also because I want to see some states turn BLUE.

peace on earth,
gary

16. We need every bit of help we can get. I am going to the grocery store
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 05:49 PM by Ojai Person
soon to get 3 more candles, one each of red, white, and blue.

I get the 7 day votives, w/ or w/o pictures of Jesus and the saints.

They are only 1.98 each.

We don't want the Fundie prayers to be louder than ours, do we?

BTW, I don't know about anyone else, but I am praying to, besides God, etc., the ancestors of this country, including those slaughtered off their land, those carried over here against their will on ships as slaves, and those who came over here and started a new democracy and wrote the constitution. For good measure, I am asking for help from all of my deceased relatives, and from the newly deceased around the globe. I put out bowls of water for the ancestors next to the candles.

Sorry if this offends anyone, but this is a special occasion, when we need every influence on our side.

17. watch those flames
I just read in the Berkeley Wellness Letter how candles are a major reason for house fires, esp. during the holiday season. Place the candle in a holder. Make sure that no one can knock it over, such as a child or pet.

18. Good safety reminder.
I received as a gift a huge hurricane candle holder. It's not only huge, but very heavy. And very safe.

My candle will continue to burn.
