Did I hear Keith Olbermann claim Barbara Boxer is planning to contest
the election?

On his show last night he was talking about the Conyers situation and said something to this effect I think.

I was on the phone with a friend in need so I couldn't quite unda-stand what he was saying.

Anyone catch the shew?

1. No!
Conyers letter urging all Senators to challenge was sent to Boxer.

6. I think
it would be career suicide for her. And she knows it.

7. Well, if you think about it
Any senator who stands up will be putting themselves on the line. When everything comes out in the open though, they will be heralded for cleaning up the mess and making things right!

8. Exactly.
I don't see why this would be career suicide for Boxer. I also don't understand how anyone could possibly know what's going on in her mind. :hi:

12. Boxer just won a third term
I doubt if she would go for a fourth. She is a priime candidate to stand with Conyers. Will she? I don't know. One can hope.

16. You are wrong, nym81.
She has a huge mandate and will be a great hero in California.

I'd like to know more about these new posters who are spreading the phrase "political suicide" around on this matter.

Standing up for our right to vote, standing against the suppression of black voters in particular, after all they've been through to gain voting rights, and standing against BushCons on any issue, cannot be "political suicide." It is political LIFE. LIFE!

9. Interesting enough
they are investigating Waters, and now McDermott

anyone get the feeling that the Witch hunt is on?

Let's see what they dig on up on Boxer or any other memeber of congress that may contest on the 6th. as they are doing in the house.

11. I know I'm asking for it, but doesn't it strike you as interesting that
an African-American is leading the charge, and he is asking a woman to stand with him? Both groups have relatively little power in the halls of government, despite many gains. I think he addressed it to Boxer becuase he tinks she has the guts to do it/

14. Over all

It's the right thing to do. Contest it. I do hope that whom ever he chooses to stand up will do just that.

However, the majority who will decide upon the fate of this election will be far willing to investigate it or give it any merit. Those being republican's that dominate both the house and congress would never allow their president to be thrown out.

We must recognize this now. It's a fool's hope, yet still a hope. In argument with my own words(yes I argue with myself). For one senator to risk their neck speaks volumes to me, even if it is not over turned. That simple act, tells me democracy is still alive, even sickened and beaten, it still battles to do represent the people. That would be good news.

So in short, Man or Woman, black or white, we have very little power in these halls of government to over turn this election. But hope burns brightest in the darkest of places.

13. Why don't they just form a coalition of sorts?
Perhaps I am being too naive... but wouldn't it be safer and more effective to have a number of Senators and Representatives stand up???? I mean it will hold up more .. besides we know the Dems are going to have to fight THEM tooth and nail on a number of things... why not the security of our democracy???? I sure hope they all get together and show this country that democracy itself is the most important issue... and get the damn MSM involved!

PLEASE PLEASE help our "angel from heaven" Conyers reveal the truth before you all get replaced by them!

15. Barbara Boxer has never been one to
worry about being re-elected first and issues second. That is why I believe she will contest. There has to be enough data for her to be swayed, but thats what Conyers is doing, yes. If she decides not to then it will be for reasons other than it being political suicide. IMHO.

But I feel she will join Conyers.
