Using the Dobson "Bully's-eye" to convince Senators to do the right
thing.

I know there is another thread on this article, but this is about strategy.

from today's NYT:
---
James C. Dobson, the nation's most influential evangelical leader, is threatening to put six potentially vulnerable Democratic senators "in the 'bull's-eye' " if they block conservative appointments to the Supreme Court.

In a letter his aides say is being sent to more than one million of his supporters, Dr. Dobson, the child psychologist and founder of the evangelical organization Focus on the Family, promises "a battle of enormous proportions from sea to shining sea" if President Bush fails to appoint "strict constructionist" jurists or if Democrats filibuster to block conservative nominees.

What got my attention was that this bullying is how Dobson gets the attention of the media, as limp dishrag remarks from targeted NB Dem Nelson's spokesman imply: we know he's not threatening us, we're with him already. It's the media he wants to take notice.

Kind of like a snake puffing up its hood. So how could we do that?

We are in a very similar position, it's just that we want the real thing instead of the fake morality.

So perhaps we should be sure that we use our own bully pulpit by relentlessly cc'ing every fax and email to a Senator to the media regulars, the blasted ones. That's more the idea than begging them to please pay attention. It's letting everyone know that we mean business. We are at least a million strong. We are a force. And we can even think for ourselves. They haven't seen anything yet.

Any comments? Or let's just do it!

1. If our state Dems were smart,
They should levy the taxes by 10,000% on the Focus on the Family down in Fundieland and get them to scram elsewhere. And Dobson would have to spend millions to relocate to Dumpwater, Idaho, home of fundies extraordinaire where everyone can wait for the raptures right there.

Fuckheads.

3. Mainstream Christian churches are complicit in --
-- Dobson's hate campaigns if they do not rise in objection to his misrepresentation of the New Testament.

Their very closed mouths suggest they have no problem with what he is saying and doing.

If it were my faith, I would be pissed as hell at Dobson's entire operation.

4. This is precisely why Dems must 'contest' Electoral Vote from Ohio
When he says 'bulls eye target'...that's a threat and if its from the White House(indirectly) then stealing the election seals the deal, doesnt it.

Did Daschle really lose?

5. Here's the letter I sent with the 23 page faxed report compiled by IndyOp:
Name
Address
Phone
Date

Dear Senator Someone:

I am writing to you neither as a constituent, nor as a Democrat or a Republican, but as a citizen of the United States. I am gravely concerned about our democratic process, especially as it has been compromised in the national election of November 2, 2004.

Representative Conyers will be formally raising similar issues concerning the state of Ohio when the Senate meets on January 6 to accept or reject the electoral votes for President. Therefore, I send you a citizen's summary of irregularities only in that state. To fax the evidence from other states would be an effort I am not prepared to undertake, as it would take hours.

Please review these materials and those from the findings of Rep. Conyers most carefully. I am sure that if you understand what is presented, you will have no choice but to stand with the other Democratic and perhaps Republican Senators on January 6 in support of Rep. Conyers' request for an honest investigation of the vote.

There are clearly only two reasons why you would not stand. Those would be either that you have not taken the time and trouble to familiarize yourself with the matter, or that you do not consider it your duty to defend the constitution and the right of the people to have an honest election.

Please help make us proud members of a great democracy once again.

Sincerely,
Name Witheld

We are faxing the report to all of the targeted senators, and then some. I added the two targeted by Dobson--after all, he's threatening to steal their votes if they don't tow his line.
