1. If people want me to arrange for that, let me know
I have the ability to capture donations on www.usvip.org via charge card or PayPal.

We have been part of the Bay Area coalition that has been holding rallys at Boxer's office. If you want to collect funds for a flower purchase, PM me, and we can work out the details.

11. Blooms for Tubbs-Jones, Boxer, and others (?)
I will pledge through PayPal for flowers to Tubbs-Jones and Boxer. Am I right in reading that you can directly deliver to Boxer's office in SF, GregD? Then we'll need to arrange delivery to Tubbs-Jones' offices in Shaker Heights or other office in her district. Hope we can reach a critical mass on this idea. Contributions to their election campaigns can wait a few weeks. An act of beauty can touch the spirit, and if sent to their home state offices, their over-worked staffers can share in the gesture of thanks.

Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 05:25 PM by GregD
by a delegation of people that have been directly involved the past few weeks in asking her to do what she did today: she stood up for democracy and held her ground.

Donations will go to my business account (USVIP.org does not have a merchant account) and I pledge that the money will be used for the flowers.

43. anyone who wants to donate to a Roses for Barbara fund, read this
I'm happy to take up a collection for roses, and a group of us will deliver them to her SF office. We held several demonstrations there recently, her staff knows us, and we will be able to say thank you while delivering the flowers.

This does not have to be a complicated process. Just PM me, or post here, or send mail with the "contact" link on the site. Let me know you are a DUer and that your donation is to be earmarked for Boxer.

Let's keep it that simple. There is no field on the donation form for you to earmark the donation for this. And I'm not going to program it for that at the moment.

Right now I have $10 from one person. Who else is in? I'll make sure we get a photo of the delivery team and the roses.

OK?

and believe me, I'm gonna do that too. I think the idea is they deserve a gift of thanks.

I'd say send them/deliver the roses to the home state offices. Look on their web sites for lists of offices nearby.

Tubbs-Jones - one of many offices in her district
3645 Warrensville Center Road suite 204
Shaker Heights, Ohio 44122
(216 522 4908)

Boxer - SF office
1700 Montgomery St suite 240
San Francisco, CA 94111
415 403 0100

Can we get a DUer in Ohio to join in and arrange delivery for Rep.Tubbs-Jones?

21. It's just so "liberal" to send flowers
Poetic gestures do not make news or win elections. I am also pretty sure it underscores the "women want flowers" thing. She is a patriotic hero not a prom queen. Send her money! A cool million by Monday would make a serious difference in how democrats treat their constituents.

28. Why not just call your florist and send them to her via FTD?
That's easy enough to do individually on a local level, and then each bouquet or arrangement of flowers can arrive with its own personalized message to her. Might be even more impressive? It'd be easier and faster, too, than trying to organize a group effort. JMHO...

I'd already decided I was going to send Barbara flowers, but I'm going to send them to her Sacramento office here, since that is local for me, and I am a constituent.

35. Ok, I called her office and got through!
We can call a florist and have the roses delivered to the Hart Senate building. The florist will go through security and have the roses x-rayed, but as long as it's not through UPS or another mail service it won't be irradiated.

Washington D.C.

I spoke with the San Francisco office since the DC office has a recording saying it is closed. Let's have the flowers delivered tomorrow morning. Now, how do we arrange a funding pool? Can the moderators set one up?

I'm going to look into a local florist here to see if we can get a nice arrangement that a group would hand deliver.

For Tubbs-Jones, and for Conyers, is there a group that would do the same for their local offices? Or should we plan on delivery by Proflowers or someone?
