What do we do to make sure Election Reform isn't yesterday's news?
That is the point of this entire thing.

It was not BUSH vs. KERRY. It is about ELECTION REFORM. It is about future elections. If you don't believe the outcome and I don't believe the outcome - that is the problem!

As Speaker after Speaker (at least the ones objecting today) said, it was about people being disenfranchised. People need to believe that their votes are counted. And people that are eligible to vote must be to vote.

The entire problem with this election was the lack of transparency in the process (along with the lack of ability to do a complete recount).

Does anyone honestly doubt that the Republicans would have been standing up today, demanding a recount if the "official" outcome showed that Kerry had won? Especially if the exit polls showed a totally different outcome. And I imagine that the MSM would be covering it big time.

The people were able to make this happen today. Now what can be done to make sure ELECTION REFORM is the top issue that the Congress focuses?

1. First off, we need a full and formal investigation into the 2004 election
Without that, it will be impossible to know what we are up against.

2. LTTEs, write to representatives, inform the average person who has no
idea and undermine Bush's legitimacy and piss off freepers at the same time.

With a can of 3M Super 77 spray adhesive and a trip to kinkos, you can be the media...

3. Kick the thread, for one.
Call Senators and Congress-folk and let them know.

Boxer and Clinton are reported to have said they'll sponser legislation.

We'd best have their back on that. And I think we should send floaty hearts to reasonable Republicans.

4. Here are some things you can get started on
----------------------------------------------------------------
Election reform can help save this country!
Same day primaries with ranked voting ballots for the Dems, and
THESE reforms for your town, county, and state.

7. Having all the Dems stand up in opposition to certification?
All as a block to force public awareness and debate?
The whole outrage at not being able to vote thing?
Sortt of like what you mentioned the fascists might do?

uh...nevermind. We're on our own.
