"Congress rejects election challenge" Posted on MSNBC
Congress rejects election challenge
Democrats use procedure to examine Ohio dispute

The Associated Press
Updated: 8:27 p.m. ET Jan. 6, 2005

WASHINGTON - Congress certified President Bush’s re-election Thursday, but only after Democrats forced a symbolic challenge to the quadrennial count of electoral votes for just the second time since 1877.
Bush’s re-election triumph over Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., was never in jeopardy, and both houses swiftly rejected the challenge. But the procedure gave Democrats the opportunity to force Congress to recess their joint session as required by law and hold separate debates on the Ohio irregularities.

1. That is SO misleadingly worded!!
The challenge was intended to shed light on the dire need for accurate, reliable elections. The "swiftly rejected" wording makes it sound like it was some great defeat.

WE were the ones with the documented evidence... THEY were the ones who huffed and puffed, called us names, and talked in circles!!

More of the same old crap.

I can't wait for MSM to get what it deserves... they are SO MUCH a part of all this lying and deception

4. That just means we are getting better at what we do! And the
MSM is having to turn up the volume to cover our ability to get noticed. The louder they deny, suffle, ridicule, the more we say "Election Fraud -- What are they hiding?"

Doesn't anyone even listen or watch anything for themselves anymore? I feel as if I am the only one, internet (and DU especially) excluded, that is paying attention to any of this.

Of course it was only to be expected that the mainstream media would distort this in any way possible, they probably won't even show the speeches made and questions answered that those from the House who did object to the counting made after the vote was counted. I don't know about you, but their speech brought tears to my eyes for the pride that I felt in this country that I have never been able to feel before.

That is what should be covered. Not the fact that the objection was rejected "swiftly," but that we as an American people that believe in Democracy hold this belief dear to us and are deeply troubled by current procedures in this country that undermine said Democracy.

Did not a single Republican listen? Did they all just band together the night before thinking up such lovely (repetitive) phrases as "sour grapes" and "frivolous"?

I am so thankful that C-Span covered this, because if they didn't we wouldn't know anything about it.

6. Seeing this as a bad article is missing the point. It is an endorsement.
It says nothing about sore losers, fraud, accusations... it's the closest the MSM can get without losing their position at the foot of the throne.

12. Hate to say told ya so.
"Democratic leaders distanced themselves from the effort, which many in the party worried would make them look like sore losers. Bush won Ohio by 118,000 votes and carried the national contest by 3.3 million votes, and Kerry himself, meeting with troops in the Middle East, did not support the challenge."
