I'm crafting a nice little letter for Senator Coward, need to know what he said so I can reference it.

18. You'll be disappointed then. Not dismissive, but supportive |
|
while he was not joining in today, he recognizes the problems and will fight for election reform. He just couldn't find enough fire to go with the smoke to change the outcome of the election.
So he moves on and does something productive like going to Iraq. The horror.

|
"I will fight for election reform" sounds eerily like "I will make sure EVERY vote is counted!" YEAH RIGHT! Too little way too late. With all due respect, I don't expect you to see things my way, you appear to be very personally devoted to Mr. Kerry.

24. Yes, if you read Newsweek you will see me mentioned |
|
I am one of the "intensely loyal."
And the things he quietly did in Ohio with the Glibs lawsuit, the money he gave in Washington and Louisiana were indications to me that he was serious and still is about making sure every vote counted. It is an ongoing process, the next step being election legislation. I hope to see movement there too.
Unlike others, I didn't discount the little things I saw him doing just because they weren't big things. I understood that without fire to go with that smoke, my obsessive compulsive candidate wasn't leaping out anywhere. Prosecutors need evidence. I don't think he could find enough of the hard stuff to make a concrete stand on. And if he didn't have it, I wouldn't want him to discredit the entire movement coming out without it and being trounced. That would have been the more damaging outcome in my eyes.
I don't expect you to see things my way either. But declaring a vendetta is a different matter. That's just wrong at this point. Do you really think you can maintain a three-year vendetta. Are you truly that pissed?
I'm sorry, but I know enough about the man to know he is a good man who doesn't deserve to be strung up on a cross. And at this point, we need all the Dems we can get. If you try to have him for lunch, I will be there suggesting vegetarian instead.

I'm going back to my mansion and i might stop and spend a few hundred thousand dollars along the way. Have fun with your unemployment, social security and unprovoked wars for the next 4 years, i don't, and never really did give a shit."
or something like that.

5. Here's what's on his senate.gov website |
|
It differs somewhat from the email:
“On November 3, I conceded the presidential election to George Bush and also expressed my commitment to ensuring that every vote in this election is counted. While I am deeply concerned about the issues being highlighted by my colleagues in Congress and citizens across the country and support their efforts to highlight the need to ensure voting rights, I will not be joining their protest of the Ohio Electors.
“As Representative John Conyers’ (D-Mich.) recently released voting rights report shows, there are very troubling questions that have not yet been answered by Ohio election officials. I have supported and will continue to support a close examination of voting irregularities in Ohio and elsewhere because it’s critical to our democracy.
“As I have committed, in the coming months I will present a national proposal to ensure transparency and accountability in our voting process. I plan to use the information gathered by Representative Conyers in his report, and information from other investigations underway, to guide my legislation. It will be one of my top agenda items. I ask the Republican leadership, and all those concerned about voting rights, to join this effort so that we act on reform this year.
“I will continue to strongly support the efforts of the civil rights and voting rights groups across the country that continue to investigate what happened in 2004 and how we can ensure it will never happen again.
“I am currently traveling in the Middle East to thank our troops for their service, and I am reminded once again of the power of democracy and fair and free elections. All American citizens should have the confidence that their vote was counted. Our democracy depends on it.” ###
He is not a coward. And I am not a fair-weather friend.
I am also continuing to pray for his safe return from the Middle East. The troops appear glad to see him, from last account.

6. If you mean Kerry's letter... |
|
Here's what he said:
"No American citizen should wake up the morning after the election and worry their vote wasn't counted. No citizen should be denied at the polls if they are eligible to vote. And, as the greatest, wealthiest nation on earth, our citizens should never be forced to vote on old, unaccountable and non transparent voting machines from companies controlled by partisan activists.
Tomorrow, members of Congress will meet to certify the results of the 2004 presidential election. I will not be taking part in a formal protest of the Ohio Electors.
Despite widespread reports of irregularities, questionable practices by some election officials and instances of lawful voters being denied the right to vote, our legal teams on the ground have found no evidence that would change the outcome of the election.
But, that does not mean we should abandon our commitment to addressing those problems that happened in Ohio. We must act today to make sure they never happen again."
If, like the brilliant poster below you, you choose to believe this means nothing, that's your prerogative. Personally, I choose to read all of the words and believe that he means them.

what the message meant though: 'I'm too much of a coward to stand up to the Bushes and I'm looking forward to REPORT FOR DUTY again in 2008. Hey, there's a sucker born every minute.'

...having Kerry here to contest his own election would not be appropriate. He did the right thing to get out of town. Let's wait and see what he does towards election reform. Do not underestimate this man. I removed my Kerry bumper sticker today, but decided to stay on his mailing list. I really, really wanted HIM to win. I'm going to give him a chance.

|
Kerry was not willing to risk his political career to stand for the people and stand for truth on this most fundamental issue.
As many of you are saying his actions have spoken . :-(
