thanks for being nice. I was just wondering the same thing and saw your answer. It is rude when veteran posters are mean to newcomers. I started posting on this site after reading an excellent piece by Will Pitt on truthout.org. I emailed and asked if he knew where I could post something to get the word out to a lot of people about a letter I wrote as a plea to senators to object to the vote certification.

He posted my letter and sent me the link. I started reading other threads and wanted to thank those who read my letter and passed it along, I was grateful for the help.

Not everyone who posts is an in-your-face, type of person. It can really turn people off to involvement if the first time they post they get rude or blunt replies with a condescending attitude. If we want that kind of treatment, we could post on a Republican site!

One other thought about new people. Some rarely forums. My Mom who is 65 surfs the Internet but she is intimidated by forums, which is a shame, she is one smart woman with a lot to contribute.

So thanks for encouraging us "newbies"!(I think that's what you call us)
