Questions to put meaning to yesterday. Please respond if you know.
Despite the feeling of the majority here, I was initially devastated by the 74-1 in the senate, but forget that. I think I have a clue know.

Please help me with the following questions: 1. Does the GAO investigation of "election irregularities go on now that we have a senator? 2 Is John Conyers, or somebody else in charge of this investigation now. 3 Do they have subpoena power now.

I think I'm on track here and obviously am on the scent of the dastardly Blackwell. Please respond as to whether I have it right, or correct my assumptions. Thank you

1. The vote does not actually start an investigation
The vote did not actually start an investigation. One should be started on behalf of Congress, but nothing that happened yesterday authorized anything to happen.

2. I know that but months ago there was a lot of talk about Conyers
not being able to do a full investigation (subpoena etc), because he didn't have a senator. Now he's got one. Thanks for answering though.

3. Vidar, I'm a Shakespearean, not a lawyer but this is what I
understand:

The GAO investigations are ongoing. And that will probably progress as fast as the Valerie Plame case (read: not very fast).

Mr. Conyers seems to have the most steam. And it looks like he will continue his efforts, subject to how much pressure we bring to bear, until or unless it's taken up by someone else. Which it won't be, far as I can tell.

This is the long haul. We did a LOT in nine weeks. We can't wimp out now because there's a lot more to get done.

Beth

4. Thank you. Did a fair amount of acting & taught English myself.
Long haul is fine. I'm hoping Conyers is in charge as he has proven most trustworthy & competent thus far. From my state too.

6. My sense is they're doing great with this.
Jan. 6 was a hard date.

Courts and cases don't move fast. But I think we'll get there.

Worst case, we get "free elections", again.
