The Democratic leadership lost this election!
My fellow Democrats, I do believe as you do that this election was highly fraudulent. We may never know how much, but I hope we do - and soon. But to be honest about it, this should have been a landslide for us in spite of the fraud! The America voters were not educated about the Bush Administration. And who's job was it to educate if not the Democratic leadership's job?

I warned about this in back before the Democratic Primaries even happened in an article here at DU and elsewhere called Can we afford a new Emperor, even if he is a Democrat? This article caught fire quickly here at DU, but one of the members didn't like what I said and had the DU staff lock the article to kill it. You can kill it, but you cannot make its truth go away!

This Democratic Party (of which I used to be so proud) is being destroyed by its leadership! They are taking it away from the American people at its base and presenting it on a silver platter to the same corporate elite who own the Republicans. And since the same elite own nearly all of our media, our media tells us that the country is moving to the right and if the Democrats don't move with it they will never win an election again. This is bunk of the first order!

We lost this election because the issues were ignored. Michael Moore even made a movie about the issues that could have been our rallying point, but our leaders choose to run a "Bush lite" campaign. It was as if John Kerry never saw the huge anti-war marches.

No matter what our leaders say, if our Party does not return to the people, eventually the people will revolt to be heard! They will only take so much abuse before that happens. Either a new Party will become the dominant Party or even bigger changes will occur as they have always done in the past when people are oppressed.

One more point I would like to make. Democracy is not about voting for the lesser of two evils every four years. We, the people, must be engaged in all political issues and work for their resolution or solutions won't come. Anyone paying attention for a decade or more can see that our "representatives" will not do it for us. If we release our responsibility as citizens to the politicians, they will do as they please - which is usually the most financially rewarding action for them. But this is never the best action for the health of the country and the world.

Our Constitution guarantees that we, the people, will remain sovereign - not those in Washington. Therefore, we must accept this empowerment before it is taken from us permanently. We can assure our own empowerment by doing something very simple. We can vote for and support the National Initiative for Democracy! We also must become active in educating our fellow American citizens about this initiative or it will never happen. Former Democratic Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska has been trying to enact a national initiative for decades; he has dedicated his life to this project. If you take the time to read up on it, you will see the rigor of this legislation. To you young activists out there, I cannot think of a better way to spend your time to save our country from corporate fascism than this.

1. Almost
I agree with a lot of the sentiments here except that the election was lost. We do have problems with the corporations trying to steal the party. But that issue should be put on hold for a couple weeks while we try to find the proof of fraud. There is a difference between loosing and having it stolen.

6. I'm giving things until the electors vote.
If the Dem Party tries to scuttle an investigation and/or recount, THAT IS IT.

3. WE need to oust Terry (nationally) and Art Torres (in CA)
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 02:43 PM by genius
Art Torres tried to get the Democratic E-board to endorse the same Props as the Calif Repub Party but he lost out on the endorsement issues at the E-board meeting where the endorsements were decided. There are no provicy rights advocates anywhere high up in the Democratic Party and this is one of the things we need to work on.

Before the new FCC rules, our of the county groups proposed a resolution opposing the new FCC regulations. Art decided it was not a priority, saying he knew Michel Powell and Powell wouldn't do anything wrong. The leaders are putting on nothing more than a show. I think the Democratic leaders like losing.
