what did Al Franken say about voter fraud? |
|
I was listening and all ready to hear the guy from M.I.T. and all that. Did I miss it? Was it one or two sentences or what?
I am pretty mad at Al right now. He has been calling Bush a liar for over a year now and with the election looking all sketchy he just accepts the results at face value.
Where is the fight?
We might not be able to change the election for now but what about 2006. If the machines are still bogus we will never get our country back!
FIGHT THE RIGHT!!!

3. We're having a big meeting |
|
In New Port Richey, Florida this evening to plan our tactics, and audit the machines. It appears that Kerry's legal team went into hiding. I tried calling some of them the day after the election, and was refered to the ACLU. I talked to them, about disrepancies, and questionable tabulation procedures, etc. Gave them names, times, witnesses etc.
As far as I can tell, they haven't done shit with it.

Al Franken interview with prof political science MIT. Member of Caltech and MIT
voting projects.
Three piece of info "rightly of concern"
1. Discrep between votes and exit polls
2. Discrep between voter reg and voting (Florida)
3. Discrep between total votes cast and total votes for pres. More votes for pres than total ballots cast.

7. 1. Discrep between votes and exit polls |
|
- He's saying that the discrepancy was independent of the kind of equipment being used. He's saying that the sample size is too small. 40 precincts per state, 40 people per precinct. He's saying that we rely too much on exit polls. Says Exit polls "too noisy." Says Charles Stewart has looked at the exit polls at the diff kinds of machines at county level and they weren't that off by type of machine.
He's saying 2000 exit polls were off this way as well. He's saying that the exit poll system is broken.

Tom Hartmann piece: This is the piece where there seems to be greater discrepancies between counties that have diff types of machines, vs. registration type.
"This is one of the more alarming discrepancies." But he's saying it's becomes opscan tend to be use in rural counties, computers are used in rural counties. He's saying that see same discrepancies in handcount.
Possible some sort of miscount or hacking into tabs!!! Could be the Dixiecrat votes... but this question is legitimate enough that "it makes sense for the state to do a recount or for the voters to request a recount."
Probably it will take some voter in the state of Florida taking some legal action.
Calling on Jeb & co to recount to "take care of voter fears." (HA!)
Also pointing finger at central tabulator --- this can be checked! You can check machines, etc.
Telling Florida voters to call local county office etc.

"It may not be a problem with the counting of the ballot," he's thinking that there may be a problem further down the line.
JEEZ COME ON AL! HE'S CALLING FOR A FLORIDA RECOUNT AND HE'S A PROFESSOR FROM MIT!!! THIS IS HUGE!!!!

Analysing data and looking for disperity: very good. Keep doing this.
Name was: Stephen Ansela Beher, something like that.
All in all, almost a MSM type media interview!
"Gee, their might be voter fraud. How interesting. Ho hum." WTF's up with Al? Jeez!

I generally like Al Franken but he's losing me on this issue. Compare him to Randi Rhodes who is ALL OVER this.

And while there is a lot of anecdotal stuff out there right now, there's not a real coherent story yet. If he does have political ambitions, he needs more solid evidence to avoid coming on as another tin foil hat. What we need are the lawyer, journalist, boots on the ground digging and putting the pieces together. Not sure that is happening, unfortunately.

Morning Sedition did the same thing, dissing the "blogosphere" and, to paraphrase, said we should moveon and quit comparing polls with results.
I was freaking livid.
