Blog Junkies Wanted--There wouldn't be any of those here, would there?
I've had a request from the organizers of the Oakland teach-in this Saturday for help getting the announcement posted around the Web on blogs, calendars of events, etc. I offered to post that request here.

Would you go to your favorite election justice/reform websites, check to see if the event is already listed? If it's not, please submit it.

The flyer for the event can be found at:
http://www.wellstoneclub.org/involve/teach-in.pdf

Program details can be found at:
http://www.democraticrenewal.us/involve/teachinbio.htm

Link to main DU thread on the teach-in:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x327393

Please reply to this message listing sites where you've found or posted the announcement.

Thanks!

3. Some ideas
craigslist.org (or is it .com?)
sfgate.com (not sure there's a way you can post there)
United for Peace and Justice events calendar online
maybe search for "Bay Area" plus "calendar of events" or something like that?
I also think it's find to check the national blogs and post there, plus freepress.org and other election-related sites
maybe there's a way you can post on sites for Bay Area colleges and universities? SF State University, UC Berkeley, community colleges, USF, JFK University, even Stanford

Those are some places to start.
Thanks!

I went to the Indymedia.org SF Bay area web site, and posted it there, then found that somebody else had done so (who knew driving directions). I'll check around the web...

Election reform sites.
Leftist sites
Bay area, Santa Monica and L.A. sites.
Bay area college/univ. sites (espec. East Bay & Berkeley).
And other Indymedia sites.

I'll report back here as I go.

Did you see my NOTICE about the Oakland event web site that's been on all our blogs (main post)?

13. URGENT! EMLEV! New problem with Don Goldmacher's email
A big calendar just called me, said the Goldmacher email address with the 'd' in Goldmacher got bounced back. The address with NO 'd' in Goldmacher is THE ONE LISTED AT THE WEB SITE: http://www.democraticrenewal.us/

dongolmacher@sbcglobal.net (--but they spell out his name Don Goldmacher).

I'm going with no 'd' in Goldmacher in the email address unless you find out otherwise.

I called and emailed that web site (Wellstone Democratic Club), but no reply yet--and I've tried to email Goldmacher, but my email server seems to be down for incoming email.

Criminy. Grass roots organizing can be such a hassle, huh? (--whereas if you call the Republican Party or Exxon-Mobile, I'm sure somebody will pick up the phone, and all the facts at their web site can be relied upon). (har, har)

12. Well, I'm still plugging away...had to get some sleep.
Here are some additions to my list of contacted organizations (or postings):

A.N.S.W.E.R.: answer@actionsf.org

http://www.bapd.org/notices.html

United for Peace and Justice: http://meetup.radicaldesigns.org/meetup_addevent.php

Peninsula Peace & Justice Center (Palo Alto) http://peaceandjustice.org/index.php?topic=contact

Acterra (big environmental group, Palo Alto—all their emails): http://www.acterra.org/contact/

and I've done some media work locally (No. Calif.), and to various listservs.

I tried and tried, at sf.indymedia.org – their web site is badly hacked or glitched (but I did post at the bay area site).

Onward: I still haven't finished with the bapd.org CALENDAR list. I have not started on their alphabetized list of activist groups. (I will start at the end of the alphabet later this morning.)

Too bad about the mistake in Don Goldmacher's email (correct version: dongoldmacher@sbcglobal.net). I've sent the mistake everywhere. Oh well. I hope people who try to use it will catch the mistake. Corrected from here on.

We can't all be pUrfict!

The guy I talked to at the Women's Calendar said they get picked up by all national and international media. He said he would list it, though he was having trouble with the Goldmacher email--the one with the 'd' in Goldmacher didn't work, got bounced back to him. He's posting the one without the 'd,' as per my instruction. But I'VE GOT TO GET BACK TO HIM IF IT'S WRONG.

Please advise.

23. Here's the email I'm sending to groups in the Bay area--feel free to use!
Members of your group might want to know:

ELECTION RIGGING TEACH-IN THIS WEEKEND:

OAKLAND, CA – Feb. 26

On Saturday, Feb. 26, there will be a Teach-In called “Election Rigging 101,” in Oakland, CA, at which many of the key figures in Election 2004 analysis, and the Election Reform movement, will be speaking. If you care about restoring democracy and majority rule in the U.S. of A., you will want to learn more about these vital matters—and attend the Teach-In or support the Election Reform movement in some other way.

“Election Rigging 101”: Sat., Feb. 26th, 10am – 4pm, 1st Congregational Church, 2501 Harrison St., Oakland, CA. $10 suggested donation; please bring lunch; info. at: http://www.democraticrenewal.us/
RSVP Contact Don Goldmacher: dongolmacher@sbcglobal.net.

The Oakland Teach-In speaker roster reads like a Heroic Medals List of the bravest, most hardworking and most intelligent Election Reform activists in the country, including Bob Fitrakis, of freepress.org (Ohio election attorney) Lynn Landes and Jonathan Simon, two of the earliest whistleblowers on election fraud, Kathy Dopp and Allyson Washburn, UScountvotes.org (just published the 9-Ph.D. Report on 2004 election fraud) and a range of participants including the Green Party, Alliance for Democracy, Alameda Labor Council, Democratic clubs, Voters Unite, Black Box Voting and Code Pink.

The two main culprits in 2004 election fraud were electronic voting machines and massive racist vote suppression in Ohio, Florida and other places. Learn all about it at the Teach-In!

Directions to the Oakland Teach-In: 1st Congregational Church, 2501 Harrison St., Oakland, CA (Harrison & 27th - BART 19th & Broadway - shortcut make a right on 24th and Broadway three or four blocks to Harrison).

26. Idea for how to make this more manageable
Hey, Peace Patriot. You're on a roll!

Don emailed me that he'd checked a few of the sites on your list of "done" ones and didn't see an announcement. I'm guessing that some of these sites have an approval process announcements have to go through to be posted. Given the absurdly short time-frame, I fear that this means that many of the announcements won't go up in time to be helpful.

Is there a way you can tell which sites allow you to put something directly on their calendar and which have approval processes? IF so, I'd recommend only listing in places where word will be posted or emailed immediately.

Does that make sense to you?

United for Peace and Justice said they were posting. And Women's Calendar has posted Oakland (and may post Santa Monica). I don't have time to do highly focused work on this--with a lot of checking. (If I'd had a week, I could've done this a bit better.) I'm going to use the media blaster in a moment, then come back to this and keep working through the alphabet (from the Z's) to email individual progressive groups in the Bay area. I only have a few hours this morning. If someone wants to start with the A's, that would be great.
