quick help needed - making CD labels
Anyone mess around a lot with printing CD labels?

I"m looking for a way I can make a Word Doc, or PDF, of a CD label, and people can print it on their own computers, and plop it on to a CD they burn.

issues are

1) universal or widely used blank CD labels? I'd need to suggest the brand, and where to get them.

2) Using MS word to create the labels, I'd then convert to PDF. Is there a template available in Word, or does anyone have a word doc they created for doing this, that they could send me?

My hope is that people get the blank labels and print the PDF on to the labels, without purchasing any software.

If this becomes too complicated, I'll just give them the text and ask them to use whatever label system they have, and copy the text into their label making software.

Any help is appreciated.

You'll all be hearing more on what this is about very soon.

Thanks
Gary

1. Years ago I used to make labels for CDs
and stick them on (label making kits sold at Best Buy). I no longer do that because the labels tended to bubble over time, making the CD unplayable.
My 2 cents..

2. I do this quite frequently
Software does come with most CD/DVD labels (when purchased in sufficient quantities) or can be purchased separately. Essentially all you have to do is import an image (they usually handle multiple image formats so it really doesn't matter what image format you use), position it over the outline of the cd/dvd label, click the print button and voila.

Doing this from word or any other word processor may be kind of difficult because it's hard to position the label in the correct position in the word document. The label software makes it much easier.

3. Avery gives free templates -- for use with their paper
I'm pretty sure they offer free software and also a print direct from the web option as well.

Avery link

The "catch" being you buy their label paper for best results.
