1. Is there any evidence that he did?
Is there any evidence (not to be confused with unsubstantiated blog writings) that he ever programmed Voting Machines or anything else to do with elections or voting other than the ONE reference in his resume discussed below?

{forgive me if I rant for a moment - not specifically aimed at you Chicago1}
The name of Alan Gutierrez has been repeatedly dragged through the mud, by numerous personnas, apparently based on his having written ONE election related application described on his resume as:

"...an application that generated preview ballots for voters. The application was deployed in Michigan for the November 1998 elections. Voters were able to retrieve a preview ballot using their name and city. The preview ballot provided information about candiates and links to candiate web sites."
Link to cached copy of his resume

The reference is under the heading of "Publius Voter Information Database"
Notice that his resume doesn't say he developed the entire Publius system, nor does it say what other applications the Publius system includes. It only states that he developed "...an application that generated preview ballots for voters."

Folks here have been justifiably outraged when organized (or unorganized) smear campaigns have been conducted against politicians or journalists they support, and yet here is an individual whose name and reputation has been repeatedly assaulted in this and other forums, without any apparent evidence of any wrongdoing.

Perhaps in our collective zeal to find someone on which to pin the responsibility for the outcome of the last election, we have become too hasty to view unsubstantiated-innuendo and twisted-implications as accepted fact, without subjecting them to the rigorous scrutiny they deserve. The risk is that without such scrutiny, we can too easily foster the type of lynch-mob mentality that we've all too often seen used by that 'other' group.

I don't know the man, but let's presume him innocent at least until someone comes up with something of substance to legitimately suggest otherwise.
{end of rant}

Your mileage may vary.....

4. Pal, you really didn't want to jump in the middle of this one.
There has been some hard evidence uncovered about this guy, and he's now got all sorts of people rising up to defend him.

The worst part is the only thing he has really done is turned over severe programming code to someone else who has used it everywhere! Nobody even went after him for doing the crimes.

The guy's got all sorts of neo-liberals on the attack, and right wings too who will not back off. Mail me if you want to hear everything, because this has turned into a little war. systemsinline@hotmail.com You can reach me there, pretty much anytime.

Found Magazine attacked this guy about the aggregator and its only been mentioned one time, so he has gone crazy and gotten very very personal. Look at him tear these people to pieces, a friend of mine has gotten very serious emails from one of the whack jobs representing him.

"Those Who Can Do, Those Who Can't Aggregate
2005/04/13 12:38:47
There is post over at AAiO about Ann Arbor based Found Magazine. This was spurred by a thorough skewering by AAiO regular, and local gadfly, Dr. Mandrake.

There's something cheap and snide about displaying someone else's work out of context, even if those works are orphaned works.
It's how famed Michigander Micheal Moore's films operate.

Take a short quote from an interview, then cut to a harsh image that contridicts the words of the speaker. They must be so very wrong.
No not really. The director can edit to create meaning where meaning wasn't. The editorial power of the elipsis.

Found Magazine is in that style. The Found Magazine site does not have a place for comment. It is a broadcast platform. They receive these found works, and then choose which belong in their book and where.

It is a way to make poingent the loss of cat, say, by placing that lost in a new context. A context of lost, or forgotten things. Or else, a little profession of love, which in the context of found things evokes feelings of lost love.
Yes, clever, but issue after issue?

It's a running joke, a single gag: situational irony. Hum the Alanis Moresette tune as you leaf through the pages and you'll realize how maudlin it is.

To me Found is, a cheap, zero talent version of the very real creativity of The Creative Commons, where people are actively collaborating to create new works from existing works.

Found is cheap in that they pedal orphaned works. They are violating the copyright of the author. They are not collaborating, they are appropriating.

Yes. These notes, photos, letters, postings, they are all orphaned works. They are protected by copyright. You do not need to register, or put a little "C" on a work for copyright protection. It's simply there.

Let me suggest a new tagline for Found Magazine; "Those who can do, those who can't aggregate."

Found is about the editors, of course, not the people within. It is not about voyerism, it is about control. If it were not so, then Found magazine would be a simple blog, where people can comment on these orphaned works. "

O.k let me just say that this psycho is about as right wing extreme as they even come. Michael Moore symphonies? What in the hell. He's a real daunting guy, and paints himself a liberal. Yeah right, and he erased his website for a long time just to get rid of evidence.

6. I would also like to see what evidence you have
Edited on Sat Apr-16-05 11:59 PM by BigTentDemocrat
I've seen these unsubstantiated claims at several places, but each time they are shot down by the facts. I think there was a Daily Kos diary on this subject a few months ago, where the author was outed as part of a disinformation group that has been going all over the place spreading weird stuff to further their communist agenda, or something like that.

If you have real evidence that Alan Gutierrez was involved in election fraud, then post it here, right now!

Otherwise, please stop libeling someone just because they know something about computers.

9. Ask me, and Alan sounds like an egomaniac on an extreme power trip.
I'd say this guy would gladly turn over code that could "change the world". Particularly with his obvious hatred of blue state people and deep love for the dear old south.

Or other people who have been how should we say....."Attacking us left and right at every turn"

It's like an underground mafia out there....I'm not saying or naming names, but these people all think the same.

13. And how do you come up with all of that?
His last name is Gutierrez, so I assume he is Hispanic. There are a lot more Hispanics in Texas than there are in Michgan. So what's the big deal?

What does any of this have to do with election fraud?

12. I fail to see what the point is
So this guy is a programmer, writes a blog, and believes that programs he writes should be his property, not the property of his employer.

What does this have to do with stealing the election?

So LatePeriduct when did you decide to turn into Rodney???
I thought Rodney did not want you to speak for him? Does Andy know about this? Hmmm....I am pretty sure Rodney would be upset that you are not listening to him, but I guess you don't care about what he thinks? If I remember correctly I was told to pass out a message from him. I guess I will refresh your memory.

Oh for gods sake, I need your help on some damage control.

Go to Democratic Underground under your regular name, and post in the aggregator thread to just have people click my profile to contact me.

Post saying that "LatePeriduct" is just going to confuse everybody, and that you were told to state this clearly.

And you agreed. I was not notified since I am a contributer on Rodney's blog site. Now I see this, I wonder what Rodney has to say about this or unless you are Rodney and forgot to tell me. That is it right, you forgot to tell me LatePeriduct is Rodney outside of DU.

16. The truth is, it's all so simple to understand and was reported a priori.
So why doubt it now?

Do you also doubt Greg Palast's research? The evidence is out there. Start looking at it and stop attacking those who are trying to spread the truth.

Do you also doubt Greg Palast's reseach?!? WTF??? :wtf:

Explain yourself, where did that come from? Never mentioned Greg Palast, therefore no need to answer such a brainless question. So Carolab, since you answered Schools Out's question, I take it you are SO, which I doubt. So I refuse to play the bait and switch game you just set up.

So DING DING DING DING.....wrong answer. Try again. Hopefully SO can answer this time around. Bye bye. :hi:

19. It may have been reported, but WAS it truth?
With due respect Carolab - has something changed?
Has Greg Palast ever reported anything even mentioning the name of Alan Gutierrez?

A couple of weeks ago, when I raised my concerns and asked the question....
"...some of the inferences and assertions made and repeated here last year, might have morphed into 'accepted fact' without having ever been established or proven.
Do you know of any link where Dr. Blass actually mentions either Cybernet, or Alan Gutierrez?"

you replied:
"It appears that there may be a link between the Barton Watson CyberNET company and Alan Gutierrez...but the rest of it may only be conjecture."
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x353604#354618

I certainly have looked for the evidence but have yet to see any. Is there something new that I missed that changed the inferences and assertions being spread from conjecture into truth?

It has yet to be proven that Alan was/is involved beyond all doubt.

I was referring to the mechanism, rather than the players, in my response.

But one must admit, the "evidence" seem to be pointing consistently at M. Gutierrez. Admittedly, it is primarily circumstantial, but still...

27. How about I cut in again?
Since you seem to keep repeating yourself.

"The gorilla's name is FLOCO, short for Fear of those Loco Cuban-Americans. It was the mere mention of the dreaded tire-burning, car-bombing, vote hoarding, billionaire beast, and not the silly yelling, pushing, shoving, stomping, banging, and showing of fists of the well-fed, heeled, and organized Republican apparatchik, that made the three-member canvassing board pull the plug on a vote recount that would have put Al Gore on top.

Since the fabled Bay of Pigs debacle, FLOCO has ruled the Banana Republic of Miami with an iron claw. Now FLOCO, who taught Jeb and Katherine everything they know about certification and obstruction, has national ambitions. He wants to forge a more perfect union—the United States of Banamerica.

FLOCO's On The Way!
The Wall Street Journal's tautologically conservative columnist Paul Gigot, who witnessed the "bourgeois riot," gleefully reported that "the Republicans marched on the counting room en masse chanting 'Three Blind Mice' and 'Fraud, Fraud, Fraud,'" letting it be known "that 1,000 local Cuban-American Republicans were on the way—not a happy prospect for Anglo judges who must run for re-election."

An even unhappier prospect, if you already owe your re-election to FLOCO, as two of the three canvassing board members do. County judges Myriam Lehr, an Independent, and Lawrence D. King, a Democrat, were re-elected to the bench thanks to the cut-throat political consultant Armando Gutierrez, last spotted as the "spokesman" for Elian's Miami relatives. Gutierrez is the man who delivers the indispensable FLOCO vote, without which nary a Republican or Democratic leaf flutters in South Florida.

(more)http://www.thegully.com/essays/america/001127miami_dade.html

And this detailing the Gutierrez' connections to Bush and to the Cuban Mafia in Florida:

http://www.afrocubaweb.com/miamimachine.htm

"(Richard)DeVos Statement on Gutierrez Appointment

Mr. Gutierrez has been a great asset to Michigan and will be a great leader for our nation.

"I applaud President Bush for his nomination of Carlos Gutierrez to be the next Commerce Secretary. Mr. Gutierrez has been a great asset to Michigan and will be a great leader for our nation. His story truly embodies the American dream: a Cuban native who rose from truck driver to CEO of the Kellogg company. With his experience and background, Mr. Gutierrez will be a champion of growth opportunities for businesses and for an ownership society for all Americans. Following the President's clear vision, Mr. Gutierrez will be an ardent proponent of job creation and job creators. Our nation will be well served by Mr. Gutierrez."

http://www.migop.org/pressreleases/readarticle.asp?type=press&id=2240

http://tinyurl.com/9s9vj He worked with the Department of Defense. Yeah you're right, he's got just nothing to do with elections.

You were asking him to provide evidence which you know well and by already exists. I wonder why? Oh and I think you forgot to note....

He gave his software code over to someone else, multiple parties actually are already using it. He was never talked about as having done any elections rigging by himself.

Just for good measure all the ChinaVest, Cybernet material that is in concrete. Stryon and this mess of companies is what lead to Yang Enterprises becoming front page news, maybe one day you can be grateful.

http://www.chinavest.com/jen.html

You are correct. Jenny Hsui started out in Dallas as the Dallas Pacific Group. One of the companies in the portfolio is Styron. She is connected to Catholic Charities. In addition, so is Foster Friess, who succeeded Rich DeVos as president of the Council for National Policy (mentioned above). Brandywine is Foster's brainchild--an investment consulting firm.

I believe Foster and DeVos are also involved with Legatus, which is an international group of businessmen who are dedicated to creating a worldwide network of, essentially, faith-based businesses.

So Chinavest, CNP, Catholic Charities, DeVos, and CyberNET (through Styron) are all connected, and apparently through Legatus, which is centered apparently in Grand Rapids, MICHIGAN.

Read about Legatus and its relationship to ancient Roman empire:
http://www.nurturingnetwork.org/article_19.htm

Read the Legatus website for more details:

http://www.legatus.org/public/index.asp

History of Legatus and its founder Tom Monaghan:

http://www.nurturingnetwork.org/article_19.htm

http://tinyurl.com/74g32

I think it might have made someone a little uncomfortable the fact its all so intimately connected to the CNP, and maybe someone out here doesn't like that?

Alan Gutierrez wrote a Ballot Preview program to be used with the Publius System in Michigan.
SO WHAT ?

Your quotes and articles above appear to have have nothing to do with Alan Gutierrez.

28. Perhaps there is....

Investigators claim to have proven that a certain auditing firm services Cybernet's bank, Halliburton Industries, Diebold, Howard Ahmanson & Co, and the dozen or more companies which are tied to ENRON. They claim that names and information in a certain report can be indexed and searched by relevancy so that the exact members of the CFR who have covered up Election Fraud 2004 and 2000 can be identified. They claim that certain names are direct linked members to the CFR, and the CFR is the main arm of all global operations for the CNP or as some will call it "Arlington Virginia's cult: The Family". Investigative journalist should be able to confirm, then report on this.
