Was I wrong? I was clearing out my e-mail and found this one
that I sent to my son and daughter-in-law on October 24, 2004 on the subject of "Defeatisim:"

Buck up. Dubyah and the effing Republicans spent a hundred million dollars getting you to believe that Bush will win. Don't let them succeed. I still think that the American public isn't over 50% stupid. The PIPA poll shows that most people's hearts are in the right place, it's their heads that are up their asses. Trust me, if there were a poll that showed that Kerry supporters were as misinformed about his views as Bush's are you'd be hearing about it 24 hours a day.

Since they were able to rig an election, how hard is it for them to rig a few polls? Karl Rove thinks people don't like to vote for a loser, so if he can get people to think Kerry will lose...

HERE IS THE OFFICIAL CORRECT POSITION FROM ME. BUSH CAN ONLY WIN BY STEALING THE ELECTION (again). Stick to it.

Things he might try:

Red or orange alert.
Voter intimidation in Florida and Ohio.
Computer cheating in the same places.

Defeatism only helps the asshole in the White House. Kerry might not be perfect but Bush spent millions trying to knock him down and he's still standing. The MSNBC on-line poll shows Kerry well ahead. Bush had a huge lead not too long ago on this same poll. At least no one thinks Kerry had an earpiece for the debates or is going senile, the fact that people can believe these things about Bush says a lot.

Was I wrong?

1. I don't think so. In your words, "BUSH CAN ONLY WIN BY STEALING THE
ELECTION (again)," and that's just what he did.

2. I actually thought * was going to use the red alert thing and have
Faux and CNN asking breathlessly "should people with young children, especially mothers, take the risk of going to the polls?" Didn't really think that just cheating would do it, silly me.

3. Don't forget the "Level Ten" alert in Warren, County Ohio -- got that
right on two counts...

You weren't wrong --

The election was not fair.
