BradBlog: Even Republicans are questioning the vote count in Clermont ...
... according to a recent thread on www.bradblog.com . Here are some excerpts:
--------
Republican Blogger Suggests 'Fraud' a 'Possibility' in Clermont County... Even Rightwingers are Beginning to Ask Real Questions...

Apparently there are some brave Republicans out there who are willing to display some intellectual honesty in regards to Election Fraud. It's only the root of democracy at stake after all. The following is from the Rightwing "Red State" blog and surprisingly asks some real questions and expresses an honest concern about what the hell may have happened in Clermont County during last Tuesday's OH-2 U.S. House Special Election race between Democrat Paul Hackett and Republican Jean Schmidt ...

"While you may think Democrats cry wolf on election fraud at the drop of the hat, and I agree, suspicion of the results from Clermont County in Ohio is reasonable based on what's happened there in the last year. What am I talking about? Within the last year, in this one county, there has been an FBI investigation, a "second draft" of voting results, and yesterday's "machine breakdown". I am one of those "kossacks" who thinks that the election irregularities in Clermont county are not a fluke. Before you write me off as a lunatic, please just look at the following situation;

"1. The FBI investigated allegations of fraud ... in this county in 2004.

2. There were also irregularities in this county in the GOP primary this year, favoring Schmidt....

3. The "ballot sticking" explanation may indeed be a true one; however, it does sound fishy, you have to admit. You have to ask, why was this the only county with this problem, and why did the problem only materialize halfway through the vote counting process?....

4. Why did the live-updating vote counting website go down immediately before the new results were posted?....

"... I think it's obvious there's a possibility that a county in which there are 3 irregularities in the space of a year is doing something wrong."
-----------

Right out of a Republican's mouth. Go to www.bradblog.com and read the whole story. Then write Hackett and tell him not to mothball his huevoes just yet.

Recount Clermont. Recount the paper ballots there. The elephant piss that made them "too humid" to count last Tuesday should surely be dry by now.

8. Be careful! Could be a trick to "prove" elections are fair!
I haven't looked at any data, so I have no position on whether this most recent election was fraudulent. 2000, 2002 and 2004 obviously were. I would hate to have the GOP sucker us into putting all our recount eggs into this basket, esp. since the GOP string-pullers know whether they pulled strings in the latest Ohio election.

9. Transparency is Key
If we can force them to open up and perform a full recount, in the public eye, that will showcase the sloppy and unethical manner in which they operate. That will set a precendent, so no matter what, we win.

16. If we cry "wolf" falsely, they'll ignore us when a real wolf arrives
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 01:11 PM by WhoWantsToBeOccupied
What if Rove rigged this in the Dem's favor or did nothing this time? I'm not saying it happened. I haven't looked at the numbers.

I'm simply warning us not to be the boy crying "wolf" whom everyone ignores when a real wolf comes. If there are solid grounds for believing this result was fraudulent, them I'm all for an investigation/recount.

If the media and Congress cared about fair elections, I would say, "Recount everything." But we may receive just one chance to demonstrate fraud. If we recount this and the official vote count stands, in 2006 or 2008, the GOP could just say, "There go the sour grapes Dems again"!

18. read the several threads on Clermont that have been here in past 7 days.
There is already ample evidence (including a pattern of corrupted elections in Clermont from 2004) to warrant a recount there.

And who says we get just one shot? Hell, the way the Rethugs are STILL blocking ALL efforts at serious recounts of the 2004 Presidential election in Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico and elsewhere -- I don't expect it would take too many legitimate recounts to reveal their turd in the punchbowl.

It wasn't a Democrat but a Republican Congressman who, drunk on his ass in the summer of 2003 at the White House, said (when referring to the 2004 election -- still more than a year away), "We've won. It's all over but the counting and we're doing the counting." It wasn't a Democrat, but a now-Republican Congressman (Feeney: R-FL) who hired a computer programmer to write the code to hack the voting machines -- and still refuses to discuss this on the record. It's not a Democrat, but a Republican ('ole Turd Blossom hisseff) who bragged about winning Ohio in 2004 with his "invisible grassroots campaign", as if we didn't know what that meant. And it's not a Democratic (and democratically elected) President, but a Republi-Nazi non-elected one, whose approval ratings in Ohio are around 37% as I type this.

Show me the ballots and then hide and watch while I recount them. You can call me anything you want to call me while you are hiding in the bushes. BUT SHOW ME THE BALLOTS. I don't mind a little dried elephant piss on my hands while I recount them.

I know why the Republi-Nazis are afraid of this scenario, but why are you? Sticks and stones (and plane crashes and Iraqi mortars and roadside bombs and quick-spreading cancers and ... ) can break my bones, but no names I have ever been called have hurt me or my political persuasion. So what are you afraid of? The truth just might set you, me, our country and the world free from these fascists; and it cannot come quickly enough for this "yellow dog", chomping at the bit to go fetch some evidence for the rape of our democracy up there in "humid" Clermont.

If they thought it was humid last week, just wait until all those Damshroeder (sp?)-esque Republi-Nazi Buckeye fatboys start sweating when we start recounting the votes. Right about then, we're going to be wishing that everybody used Dial, particularly those pustulent piles of elephant poo in their three-piece suits. Invisible grassroots voters, my yellow dog ass. Just a fancy name for election thieves and traitors.

21. There has been tons of electoral fraud. I want our high-profile...
recount to prove fraud. When Republicans are calling for an investigation, my dirty-tricks meter goes off. If we demand a recount in this case and the recount doesn't go our way, then the (Republican owned and operated) media will find it easy to ignore our complaints in 2006 and 2008. That's why I'm afraid. You and I KNOW there has been severe voting fraud. The average American is clueless because the media is their filter. If this election is recounted and the result stands, the GOP will point to that whenever we ask for recounts in 2006 and 2008.

I haven't read many of the threads on this particular election, but what evidence I have seen doesn't look as overwhelming as evidence from the 2000, 2002 and 2004 elections. In fact, it's very hard to have much of an opinion on the fairness or unfairness of an election without exit polling. Can you summarize for me (and others) the key evidence that suggests fraud? I would LOVE to be convinced.

22. I want a FIRST recount to occur. I'm not worried about what we'll find.
Since I've followed the evidence for election fraud very closely, I know that there is ample evidence in Ohio, New Mexico, Nevada, Florida and perhaps a dozen other states. If you're new to the subject and looking for reading material, read the BradBlog article thoroughly and click on all the embedded links within it. Then read about Curtis/Feeney/Yang on BradBlog. Then read the 102 page Conyers report. Then read the 700+ page book by Fitrakis et al "Did George W. Bush Steal the 2004 Election? Essential Documents." (available from www.freepress.org )

I would also strongly recommend that you skim through the archived threads on this 2004 ERD forum from November '04 to the present. It's impossible to summarize all the evidence we have accumulated. I would also recommend that you stay tuned to the 2004 ERD for an upcoming announcement. We are about to post the audio from the National Election Reform Conference, held in Nashville last April, that drew election theft researchers and voting rights activists from 30 states. In particular, the Friday night presentations, which presented election theft evidence from Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Arizona would be well worth your time. Velvet Revolution will be web-hosting the audio, so again, stay tuned.

23. I've read a TON of that stuff. I'm asking about the LATEST OH vote
I don't question any of the stuff you're talking about. I have read quite a bit of that. I agree there is overwhelming evidence about the 2000, 2002 and 2004 elections. But just because MANY elections are rigged doesn't mean that EVERY election is rigged. I'm asking for evidence that the latest SPECIAL ELECTION in Ohio was rigged. It's supposedly a strongly Republican district, and we got 48% of the official vote. I haven't yet seen the evidence that THIS PARTICULAR ELECTION was fraudulent. Of course it MAY be. But I am afraid of challenging a legitimate vote and then having it boomerang on us when we can't get a recount in an obviously fraudulent 2006 or 2008 election.

24. Read the BradBlog article and all its links. Then read the 6+ threads...
... on the 2004 ERD in the last week that identify questionable practices and results in the recent OH-2 election. There's more than enough fishy business to warrant the first legitimate recount in Ohio's recent history. Since you've read a TON of stuff, you know what a crock o' shit the 2004 Ohio recount was. That's why there are still lawsuits pending in Ohio -- to demand the first legitimate recount of that 2004 Presidential race. And as the OP pointed out, there are Republicans also calling Clermont crooked and demanding a recount.

We have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain by calling for an OH-2 recount. We have a candidate who's not afraid to call neocons the wide-anused whores they are; we have 100% recountable paper ballots; we have a recent, well-documented history of Clermont ballot tampering; we have a number of fishy and contradictory things that occurred in the last 22 minutes of the Clermont vote-counting; we have Republicans supporting a recount. What else do we need? Certainly not more chatter here -- we've already filled several threads discussing this. (Do a search of my handle -- I started several myself.)

Dozens of us DUers are willing to donate to the recount, both time and money. Some of us are meeting with Hackett soon to persuade him to lead the charge. Join us, or hide and watch. It's time to stop "crying wolf" and start tacking those Ohio election-stealing cur-dogs' balls to the wall.

12. A trick to prove elections are fair?
Every suspcioun of fraud must be investigated, patterns identified, and a trap set.

Too much is at stake and catching them red handed would decimate the Republican party.

13. Only one way to find out. Recount the votes. And watch for ...
... stickers like those that covered legitimate Kerry/Edwards votes on ballots (which had then been re-marked for the Nazi Chimp and his organ-grinder) in Clermont last December. The BradBlog article includes a link to that evidence.

I'm willing to take my chances, pay my money and make a trip to Clermont to help in the recount. Anyone else out there want to come along?

17. No..it is because Repubs voted for the dem and want THEIR vote counted
When it happened to Kerry, they didn't care, but this time the Dem peeled MANY Repub votes, so THEIR votes didn't count.

14. What forged documents? Everything the R-W poster stated is fact.
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 12:20 PM by Fly by night
FBI investigations, "amended" primary votes, "humid" ballots only in part of Clermont, crashed web-sites, counting "glitches". And the winger didn't mention the stickered Clermont ballots from last year, the changes in the story of what happened in Clermont last week and other evidence from Clermont that we also know.

So far, I don't see anything the "Red State" poster said that isn't already public knowledge. What's unknown is what a recount of the ballots in Clermont and other suspicious sections of OH-2 would reveal. The only thing that would give us that information is a recount.

If you're waiting for me to volunteer to help with the recount, you're backing up.

19. The flip side is that IF FRAUD is proved in the 2nd CD in Ohio
It opens up a dialoge that --- gee maybe they are right about Kerry Winning--

If Fraud was proved in the 2nd CD, convictions, Hackett declared the winner, etc,

Then it becomes harder to not look at fraud in Nov 2004, only 8 months earlier.

29. Recount because this was a much simpler ballot than Nov 2004.
Harder to screw things up with rotations, etc. and Op Scans would have the candidates' names printed on 'em unlike punch cards.

Now, if only there were a Green or Libertarian running, we could actually get this done! Or were there?

There's still that 3% non-random precinct selection thing to worry about though. If it's not a full hand count, it could be a waste.

On thing's for sure: in that district, you don't even get 48% without some Republican votes.
