NEED HELP: Best argument for HCPB and against opti-scans to use
help convince a prominent national figure.

I will be involved with a small group of election reform activists presenting the case for HCPB to a national figure who has little knowledge on the subject. I am preparing my argument and would appreciate if my well-informed friends on DU contribute to this discussion.

Coming from Ohio I have a total lack of confidence in the use of electronic machines and feel the central tabulator can (and was) manipulated to sway the vote. I have read arguments (I have especially found a recent post by Helderheid on this forum to be very informative) in support of opti-scans with a strict emphasis on open source code and quality control measures, but I still have such a lack of trust of the companies motives, and the fact they can be manipulated that I am in the camp of HCPB. I work with a group in Ohio who are in the midst of researching a HCPB voting initiative to be placed on the Ohio ballot next year.

Your comments will be greatly appreciated!
