She has follow-ups, but she's ambulatory. I'm glad the hospital staff didn't shut down today in protest.

3. Last night, I saw Andrew Gumbel's presentation on book "Steal this Vote" |
|
and today i read the first bunch of pages in a new book on the history of elections.
Common theme of both (I didn't seek this theme out) is that the elections have rather always been completely horrendous and corrupt. An example is even given of George Washington "treating" parties with Liquor designed to buy votes. It was shortly thereafter outlawed by the Virginia House of Burgesses.
There was a protest in Seattle. I told our one employee she could have the rest of the day off if this was a "holiday" for her. (No freebies for not giving a damn)
I went to some stores, and people asked me what my orange ribbon was all about. So, I told them about the process of OTOH's denial in the face of more evidence of election irregularities than lawyers usually file lawsuits with. (except I didn't specifically mention OTOH : ) )

9. gee, thanks for that gracious recognition |

but I wish you wouldn't misrepresent my position. In what sense do I deny "election irregularities"?
Oh, forget it. If this helps you sleep better, I guess I can just ignore it.

that book is great, but it focuses too much on Ohio and not enough on electronic voting.
i haven't read Miller's new book yet...
IMHO, electronic voting machine fraud is the biggest threat and although Ms. Harris has many critics, most agree the book "Black Box Voting" is essential to understanding what we are up against.

14. Spent the day being interviewed for a stolen election documentary ... |
|
...that was started at our National Election Reform Conference and has continued ever since.
I also spent it following up with three local reporters who are now doing in-depth stories about the untoward influences in our state's decisions about how we will spend our HAVA money.
I also worked to put finishing touches on another Election Security Gathering this Saturday that will draw our Congressman (Jim Cooper,a co-sponsor of HR550) and David Mills, the Memphis attorney who is suing to declare paperless electronic voting to be unconstitutional in Tennessee.
I also sent memos out to our local Democrats to prevent our county from switching away from optical scan voting to DREs, which might happen.
I also completed an analysis of undervotes in the 2004 Presidential election, having found that some of our voting systems had as high as a 3%+ undervote and that four of our counties had "phantom" votes -- more votes for President than voters. I got that information out to several counties right away which are re-thinking their voting systems also.
Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful day. Even got to bush-hog one of my pastures and finish harvesting my broccoli and sweet potatoes.
We mustn't stop until private companies no longer count our votes in secret using software we cannot even examine.
Voter-Verified Paper Ballots NOW. Mandatory Random Manual Audits NOW. No more wireless capability in our voting machines (NOW or EVER AGAIN).

16. I went to Harrisburg to volunteer with Move On to get out the vote |
|
They had everything so well covered that they didn't even need me, or the myriad of other volunteers who were there. The ground game was going so well, they were confident that Kerry was going to carry PA by a large amount.
Later that evening, when I returned home, I was very surprised to see that Kerry won PA by only 2%, and the networks couldn't even make the call until late into the evening.
I went to bed hoping for another early morning surprise, like we had in 2000.
