New Mexico had over 100% puke voter turnout.

Bev just posted the New Mexico county stats.

Here are a few counties with the percent of puke voter turnout:

Cibola County 130.77%

Curry County 104.72%

Grant County 121.82%

Hidalgo County 158.50%

Lea County 108.29%

Quay County 144.78%

Rio Arriba County 178.64%

Roosevelt County 110.87%

San Miguel County 105.12%

Taos County 103.93%

Union County 149.59%

Valencia County 116.75%

Now I see why the pukes are telling us to quit whining and get over it. We simply didn't work hard enough. In no single county in America did Democrat turnout even equal 100%, while in Ohio and New Mexico (and when the results come in, probably in every other state as well!) puke turnout was well over 100%

We can't even turn out the voters we have, and they can turn out 50% to 2000% more voters than they have. Like Randi says, "It's a miracle!"

Waddya mean you don't believe in miracles? You one of those conspiracy nuts that thinks 150% puke voter turnout is indicative of election fraud? Get over it! We've simply got to work harder--particularly in appealing to those nonexistent voters who overwhelmingly voted puke.

Or something like that......

Does this mean that 150% of me can vote next time, too?

The dead people decided to vote that day instead of eating our brains. It's the only explanation, unless you want to accuse the Republicans of cheating.

Those are some freakish numbers (if accurate). Either
someone is doing something very fishy or the Democrats
are having some amazingly huge problem turning out votes in
those NM voting areas compared to Republicans. OTOH, I
guess Bush coulda got all those Reg. Democrats votes but I find
such a swing really, really, hard to believe. Perhaps
there are a lot of people that consider themself Democrats
in NM but vote for Bush nonetheless  I'd buy maybe
8 to 11% crossover but these numbers seem out of the range
for that.

Keep this kicked as it's one of the few things that seem
clearly amiss at first glance. A lot of the statistical
analyses that fly around here get kind of convoluted. But
this, this I can even understand without too much effort.

are you telling me that out of an county with 9000 registered dems, that only 3000 dems showed up. also check the % of no pres votes, in all of the dem majority counties, the dem no pres vote is really high, in the repug majority counties the no pres vote is way lower when compared to dems.

If you look at the two links in your reference document (http://lnvb.westside.com/NewMexico/NewMexicoByCounty.html), http://65.160.159.96/County1.htm and http://www.sos.state.nm.us/avrs/COUNTY.HTM, you'll see that the % is not "turnout". It just means that a lot of registered Democrats purportedly voted for Bush (which I think is the real mystery).
For example, Hidalgo County votes:

JOHN F. KERRY and JOHN EDWARDS Democratic 861 43.8%
GEORGE W. BUSH and DICK CHENEY Republican 1081 55.0%
Registered Voters:

Republican 665 22.41%
Democrats 2,132 71.83%

That Republican/Demo turnout percent is a useless number (unless there is data out there that says who voted for whom based on their party registration - but that's not in any of these links).

On edit - added the actual links and picked a better example county!

but don't seem to be in the same magnitude of crossover that
you see in many of the other County tallies.

But I picked a different county that is probably better. :boring:

My point is that the data isn't saying that 150% of the Republicans turned out or that only 10% of the Democrats turned out - just that whether they intended to or not, a lot of the registered Democrats' votes ended up going for Bush.

9. Silly me!

All over the country we have reports of huge turnouts where the people who stood in line for hours knew each other and had a chance to talk to each other, and were determined to wait as long as it took so that they could vote for Kerry. And they were astonished when the results showed that their precincts went for Bush.

I'm sure you can pay somebody enough to say that they're a Democrat who voted for Bush. But if the results were correct, there were millions of Democrats who hated Bush, donated to Kerry, campaigned for Kerry, stood in line for up to 10 hours to vote for Kerry, are on record as being opposed to Bush, to the Iraq war, the deficit, the loss of jobs and healthcare, the attacks on Civil rights, and are staunch proponents of a woman's right to choose, stem cell research, the separation of church and state, and other liberal issues, and who suddenly decided, when they got to the voting booth, to vote against their own best interests.

Personally, I think the problem was that Democrats DID vote Democratic. Had we voted for a third party, we'd have no difficulty getting our candidates to request a recount.

I should know better than to try to make a point at 3am. You said:

We can't even turn out the voters we have, and they can turn out 50% to 2000% more voters than they have. Like Randi says, "It's a miracle!"
While I totally agree that it's hard to believe all those registered Democrats voted for Bush, that's what the data shows - not that 2000% more Republicans showed up to vote. The data may be fraudulent, but can be explained by having both 60% of Democrats and Republicans turning out to vote, but half the Democrats' votes going to Bush.

I think framing the problem along the lines of the Republicans turning out more voters than they have registered* is a mistake because it isn't true and will make us look foolish. The real question is whether those Democrats intentionally voted for Bush or not.

Maybe I can make myself clearer tomorrow. :eyes:

*Note - I'm only talking about the data you posted above - I'm sure there are places where there are more votes than registered voters but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

11. You are exactly correct.
This is the way I would frame the argument, using your example...

Hidalgo County votes:

JOHN F. KERRY and JOHN EDWARDS Democratic 861 43.8%
GEORGE W. BUSH and DICK CHENEY Republican 1081 55.0%

Registered Voters:

Republican 665 22.41%
Democrats 2,132 71.83%

Assume that 90% of registered Republicans voted for Bush. That's 599 votes. Subtract 599 from 1081 and you get 482. That means 482 of Bush's votes would have to come from registered Dems. Divide 482 by 2,132 and you get 23% of Dems supposedly voting for Bush.

Even if you assume that 100% of R's voted for Bush, you still need 20% of D's to make up the difference. As you said, the large number of Dems who would supposedly have voted for Bush is the real mystery.

14. Well, I know a lot of pukes voted for Kerry.

Particularly the fiscal conservatives, the Eisenhower-type pukes, the ones who lost jobs or health care, some who don't like the neo-con takeover of their party, etc., but I don't know of any Democrats who would vote against their own interests.

In my precinct (actually 2 precincts voting at the same polling place), I was a poll watcher. I was there most of the day, and I talked to and observed most of the voters. When they posted the totals after the polls closed, I was shocked to find that Kerry only had a little more than twice as many votes as Bush, since it appeared to me that 90% or more of the turnout was for Kerry. But since I was homeless for most of my life and had to be a good judge of people in order to simply survive, I don't suppose my perceptions are worth anything.

Bush has been bussing the same people to his rallies, because they have to be loyal vetted supporters. He never reached out to undecideds, and he certainly never reached out to Dems. Just because the polls kept saying it was a close race, doesn't mean it really was. They are given their talking points and they stick to them. We do have evangelicals and bigots in this country, but they're nowhere close to the numbers that would have to exist for this vote to be correct.

Much as I hate to admit it, there is one possible explanation. Kiddy porn sites get millions of hits a day, and there are probably a lot of kiddy porn devotees and pedophiles who pretend to be liberal Dems because it helps them get access to women with children, but who would vote puke because they know that true liberals oppose their form of "family values." But would 8 million child molesters vote against their own economic interests to support their vice? Heck, if they hurt little kids, I guess they're capable of anything evil. And there sure are a lot of 'em. The pukes are constantly recruiting new ones in the workplace and in the military, as it gives them control over people to involve them in something blackmailable.

Even so, the very fact that anyone could suggest that Democrats might vote puke, shows that there is not enough difference between the corporate parties to dissuade them. That's why I'm going back to the Greens. Go Green for GOODNESS sake! The corporate parties are already admitting that they're almost indistinguishable.

21. Crossover voters
OK, let's accept your numbers and try to draw conclusions.

National pre-election polling had Democrats supporrting Kerry in the low 80's. Bush was in the low 90s amongst Repubs.

So is it unreasonable for 23% of Dems to cross over for Bush in rural NM?

I don't think so. It is clear though that if Dem support for Kerry had matched Repub support for Bush, Kerry would have won easily.

They've coming to the wrong conclusion from the numbers.

Did all those Republicans vote for Kerry. And now that we've apparently got Dem votes going to a Libertarian in Indiana, did that happen anywhere else. If I were going to cheat, I wouldn't make it so obvious as just stuffing the ballot box until it overflowed. I think those days are gone at least.

Everyone seems to start from the premise that 100% of Repubs voted for bush whenever we're looking at how these numbers actually break down.

I find that very hard to believe. I don't profess to know the demographics of NM, but let's see if we can find a comparable state with results that are not questionable, and see if bush got 100% of Repub votes.

I don't believe we'll find that anywhere, unless it's a very small voter population.

If you're going to prove fraud, you've got to put the right kind of fraud with the right numbers. The original post said there were more Republicans voting than Republicans registered. They didn't interpret the data correctly. The correct interpretation is did all these Democrats really vote for Bush. We can't keep having false accusations or we're going to lose all credibility.

18. New Mexico democrats - - LOOK HERE!!!
Please help get the word out for the NM provisional vote count... HURRY - - we have through Friday (tomorrow) only!

(already posted in NM state forum)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS AN ALERT

In Bernalillo County, thousands of provisional and other paper ballots are waiting to be counted in a warehouse at 2400 Broadway SW, a couple of blocks south of Gibson. There, minimally paid workers from the precincts work in pairs opening the sealed ballots, to read and tally them.

Party volunteers are needed to be present as observers and to keep tally of the presidential vote of each ballot as it is opened. The totals will be compared with the official precinct tallies. Training is minimal and provided on the spot. The process is boring but essential to keep the count honest and dependable.

One does not need to be a resident of Bernalillo County to participate. Help is desperately needed, and the deadline to complete the count is this Friday night.

Volunteers are needed from 8 AM to 8 PM from now through Friday. Usually observers volunteer for two or three hours at a time. To find out more about participating as a Democrat observer call Marci at 270-2526 or simply show up at Warehouse H, 2400 Broadway SW.

52. Eddy county seems to show one of the biggest anomalies
This is one of just a few counties where Kerry's total was less than or flat compared to Gore's votes.

Total votes for above candidates 2000: 17516
Votes for Gore: 7108 (41%)

Total votes for above candidates 2004: 20213
Votes for Kerry: 6879 (34%)

( FYI - I made a mistake with these numbers in an earlier thread. )

44. I dont understand what you are saying...Do you mean
as an example, Cibola County voted more Republican votes than there were registered Republicans? That could mean that some Democrats voted for Bush. Surely there couldn't be that many Democrats who drank the post 9-11 Kool Aid. Could there? Anyway, am not sure what those percentages represent. If you could explain where they come from it might help me. Thanks.

45. "Turnout" is the wrong word. These are Democrats For Bush.
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 11:12 PM by 0rganism
Take Rio Arriba county, for example.

Registration number % tot Voted % of vote % of party reg
Republican 2,875 11.58% 5,136 bush 34.29% 178.64%
Democrats 19,882 80.08% 9,737 Kerry 65.00% 48.97%
Other 2,072 8.35% 107 other 0.71% 5.16%

In other words, when 5136 people in Rio Arriba county voted for bush, that's 178% of the total republican party registration. Assuming 100% republican turnout and 100% loyalty, there were 2300 Democrats and "Others" voting for bush. Suspicious? Yes. Blatant fraud? Not really.

If these results are accurate, it speaks to an extraordinarily high degree of defection among registered Democrats and/or independents breaking for bush.

48. I don't know about "leaving this alone"
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 11:22 PM by 0rganism
It wouldn't hurt to do some back-canvassing in specific counties to see what people thought they were voting for, what the primary issues were, and what the actual turnout was like. This can be done very accurately, and would go a long way toward explaining what exactly was motivating people in NM.

BTW, you've got your Gore/bush vote totals reversed.

55. yeah, why leave it alone? Have somebody EXPLAIN it!
Because it's so bizarre, that while explainable, it doesn't make any real sense.

Why are there Dems, here and elsewhere, who are so fucking TIMID about this shit?

TIMIDITY WILL GET YOU YOUR ASS KICKED.

50. Yeah IF you believe the numbers from 2000
Why should you rely on THOSE?

Maybe look at the Congressional Almanac for the demographics?

56. exactly. Why believe anything starting in 2000?
where we KNOW fraud occurred?

when electronic voting began?

when Bush and his PNAC gangster buddies got into office with a little help from a guy named Jeb?

I am appalled at the timidity of some people on this board.

And the gullibility of some as well.

59. exactly...if the repubs have spent the last 20+ years
slowly buying the media and pushing it to the right...why is it so hard to imagine they'd start skewing elections in 2000 and continue it even more so in 2004?

Its all so blatant and some are saying "well gee, I don't know for sure... where's the proof?"

Folks need to wake up and take a serious reality check here. we are looking at the proof posted all over this board!

58. Too many votes in Rio Arriba County precincts?
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 01:20 AM by lwfern
http://65.160.159.96/County17_008.htm

Kerry/Bush: 65/43%
Udall(D)/Tucker(R): 81/18%

precint 8 has 216 voters, 273 votes

precinct 9 has 261 voters, 373 votes.

precinct 10 has 333 voters, 492 votes.

precinct 11 has 527 voters, 830 votes.

and so on.

I don't think these are including absentee ballots, because the footnote says they have 41 precincts reporting, plus one for absentee votes. Am I misinterpreting that?

Some random spot checks of other counties didn't show the same pattern of overvotes. This was a county marked as having a suspiciously high rate of republican turnout - 178%.

60. TAOS is leaning Republican!!!?
Taos is leaning Rupublican!!? Large numbers of Taos Democrats are defecting to support Bush. That requires a huge leap of faith. Can anyone actually say that with a strait face?

Someone shoud send a survey out to the Democrats of Taos and ask them how they feel about Bush.

62. Caroline County Virginia went Republican for first time since 1972
and also had touch screen machines for first time. Used to have the kind with the levers. I don't know what the past margins were but would like to find out.

I'm not sure if there is a better place to post this, this is my first DU post.

64. Caroline County Va Dems
Hey Duncan, are you in Caroline County? If you are, did you know about the 9:30am meeting tomorrow?

I worked the polls that we were supposedly lost by 400 votes. It's hard to know how to take it, but although there were a lot of good old boys down here too. Add to that the number of people who just moved in from other parts of Va and it could happen that we lost the county.

I've spoken with party officials here and they don't think their was any foul play. Does anyone think that I should do a FOIA request anyway just to see what's up? I've seen the FOIA info on the BBV webpage.

Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 02:20 PM by lwfern
If someone's already done this, please let me know, because it's time consuming.

What I don't have is the registration numbers (total plus breakout) for the precincts, and the 2002 results. If anyone has that, or knows where to get it, please let me know.

65. Don't jump to conclusions
As others in this thread have stated, don't jump to conclusions about these vote reversals until you first check the results against past elections. Some of these counties show patterns like the "dixiecrat" counties in Florida--they have high percentages of registered democrats, but have voted republican for the last several presidential elections.

The data is certainly worth looking at more closely, just be sure to look at the data from 1996 and 2000, too. Doesn't help us to point out patterns that are easily debunked!

66. You're right about jumping to conclusions
But I still want to analyze it.

I still need:

2000 results
1996 results

registration info

voting machine types

if anyone can point me towards that info.
