Green Party Call: Put HEAT on Media to Cover GAO Report on Election Fraud

MEDIA IGNORE MOUNTING EVIDENCE OF WIDESPREAD VOTE FRAUD AND ELECTION MANIPULATION, CHARGE GREENS

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Green Party leaders urged the mainstream media to cover evidence, including a report from the non-partisan Government Accountability Office (GAO), which found that electronic voting machines can be manipulated without detection, along with other evidence of election fraud and obstruction.

"Why won't the media cover the GAO report?", asked Gwen Wages, co-chair of the Green Party of the United States. "Just as major newspapers and broadcast media ignored indications that intelligence of Iraqi WMDs and collusion between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda had been cooked before the U.S. invaded Iraq, they're now ignoring the destruction of American democracy."

After Election Day, 2004, Green presidential candidate David Cobb <http://www.votecobb.org> led efforts to investigate widespread reports of vote obstruction and manipulation by Republican and Democratic officials in Ohio and New Mexico, especially targeted at African American and young voters. Unlike 2000, the major U.S. media dismissed evidence compiled in 2004 by the Cobb campaign and revealed during hearings led by Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) that Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell and other Republican election officials used various means to fix the election's outcome.

Greens cited recent news about election manipulation, covered in independent print and Internet media:

The GAO's 107-page report, released publicly on October 20, confirms that electronic voting machines are not secure, can easily be hacked, and often use secret, in-house software that is neither certified nor adequately inspected. The report supports many claims widely dismissed as 'conspiracy theories' that George W. Bush was placed in the White House through a fixed election in 2004, repeating the 2000 election theft. Mainstream media ignored the report's release.

Voter Action <http://www.voteraction.org> reports that New Mexico election officials have refused to allow the voter plaintiffs in a law suit challenging the results of the 2004 Presidential Election (Patricia Rosas Lopategui v. Rebecca Vigil-Giron, et al.) to inspect electronic voting machines. ("Plaintiffs Blocked During Discovery Phase of New Mexico '04 Election Lawsuit", The Brad Blog, November 12, 2005)

Investigations by journalists Bob Fitrakis and Harvey Wasserman exposed electronic vote manipulation to prevent passage of four election reform proposals on the ballot in Ohio, after the outcome on November 8 was inconsistent to the point of statistical impossibility with polls of voters conducted by The Columbus Dispatch. The Green Party has called for voter-verified paper ballots to provide an auditable record of votes cast on computer voting machines, and for voting machine source code designed to be open for public inspection and verification before and after an election.

7. I never thought twice about the Green Party until

November 2004. Within a week of the theft I contacted both the Badnarik and Cobb Campaigns and was impressed as all get-out that they actually DID something. They put out a call for funds needed to get Ohio to recount, organized volunteers and did the job (as well as possible considering interference of Ohio BOEs). I got to hear David Cobb speak in Columbus last January - the auditorium was full and the crowd responded to him like he was a rock star - :headbang: -

19. I hear you. when the Dems (except the noted few) failed to scream foul

in 11/04, I witnessed the caving in of the Dems to their corporte interests over their base. I was so horrified how Dem leaders allowed low income African American voters to be disenfranchised AGAIN.

The DNC's joke of an investigation with it's faux experts ignoring the facts lead me to resign all activity (and I stepped away from my buiness in April '04 to volunteer to work FULL TIME for the Kerry campaign-you name it I did. Worked 9 rallies,3 commercials, organized 3 fund raisers, started a neighborhood Kerry group that grew into 300+ volunteers, used my store windows for visibility, worked every festival and gallery hop recruiting volunteers, phone banked , canvassed not only my neighborhoods but also low income African American neighborhoods, drove in a Kerry motorcade, found housing for field staff, provided dinners for field staff, cleaned out the kitchen at the steel workers union hall, established election day staging sites etc. My point here is not to toot my own horn-but to show how the Dem lack of backing for their voters lost a dedicated volunteer) I now consider my self a progressive first and will vote my conscious over straight party ticket, even if it means a Dem loss.

All I expected was for my (former) party to stand up for their voters and the truth. I feel the party as a whole, failed.

GuvWurld Joins Call For Media Coverage of Month-Old GAO Report

On Oct. 20 a report condemning the security of U.S. elections was issued by the non-partisan Government Accountability Office (GAO). The report was added to the GuvWurld News Archive but I did not blog about it. It is unfortunate, but I do not have time to write about everything I see as important. Instead, GuvWurld is and always has been a vehicle for advocacy journalism where I write about the things I am DOING to bring about change, and writing in order to contribute to achieving that change. And so it is a reaffirmation of this blog's mission, today, to join the call for all media to end the blackout of the GAO report.

As is often the case lately, BradBlog.com was the first place I saw writing about the GAO report. About 10 days later, Brad lamented the lack of coverage the report had received (giving due credit to the few links to be found). Brad tagged his column with a specific appeal to Editor and Publisher, who promptly took note of the call without doing the substantive reporting suggested. I should point out that upon release of the GAO report, a bi-partisan group of six Congressmembers issued a statement in support of its findings. It is just all the more absurd that this continues to be ignored. Today the Green Party of the United States has issued a press release calling for the GAO report to be covered.

Now consider for a moment, what would be the impact of a media industry that routinely kept such important information from the public? Why, under such circumstances, we might be lead to war by a false threat; we could conceivably fail to investigate a deadly attack despite contradictory and scientifically impossible elements of the "official story"; and the possibility would have to exist that election conditions designed to produce inconclusive results would also produce something short of unanimous consensus about the outcome.

Both by what is reported and not reported, the corporate media contribute greatly to defining reality. Don't miss the pattern here. The reality being defined is quite often one of inherent uncertainty. Thus, instead of investigative reporting, often we see information surface, an attack smearing the messenger, and then a report on the he said-she said without determination of the validity of the original charge. Inherent uncertainty then remains to cause public disagreement about what constitutes reality.

In Blueprint For Peaceful Revolution I argue that this rift in the perception of reality is one example of the intentional divisiveness that has launched a Cold Civil War between the reality-based community (so-named by the administration in the NYTimes) and the faith-based community (not necessarily the religious but the unquestioning citizens who accept the official line, on faith).

More recently in the GuvWurld blog I wrote We Are Being Set Up: The Manchurian Nation. This commentary described some of the innocent ways that many pillars of our society are indoctrinated into believing their harmful actions actually serve the greater good. That includes local law enforcement trained to regard peaceful protest as terrorist activity; schools where it is assumed student information should be available to military recruiters; elections officials placing expediency over transparency and verifiability; and media no longer interested in being watch dogs over the powerful.

These actions reinforce the foundation of the faith-based community. To reality-based citizens it is like watching a Trojan Horse, inside duped public figures carry out their implanted missions like the movie about that Candidate. The infrastructure of the faith-based community is populated by the Manchurian Nation. No longer should we apologize for the nice folks we know who run the local paper or work at the elections office. They have to hear loud and clear: STOP SELLING US OUT. Stop right now. Today. Immediately. Cover the GAO report and stop impeding election reform.

called my local public radio station, KMUD, and got on the air to mention the report. David Cobb was in the studio and picked up the ball and ran with it. He pointed out that it is a virtual blackout by the corporate media and gave props to KMUD who had him on the air discussing the report when it first came out. Beautiful!

I've been emailing and blogging the link to the GAO Report, along with the bi-partisan press release from the Committee on Government Reform, and the link to WHO'S COUNTING encouraging people to read at the very least the TECHNOLOGY and THE COMPANIES Chapters.

Obviously it's up to us to inform people that electronic voting is a sham... the Repubs, the Dems and the MSM seem to be fine with it.

21. This is the issue that starts me to despair....

I get happy when other things are reported and when the MSM reports how "well" the Dems did last Tuesday. But, when I actually think about the truth of our elections (and look at Ohio's results from Tuesday) I just despair.
