Why do Americans refuse to face Election Fraud, and malign those who do?

This is from last April, but if you haven't read it yet, it's well worth the read.

The Silence of the Scams: Psychological Resistance to Facing Election Fraud

Articles / Feature Article
Posted by cshaw on Apr 11, 2005 - 03:18 PM
By Diane Perlman

What if it was discovered, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that a widespread pattern of election fraud was in place in the United States, with higher spikes in swing states, including hundreds of dirty tricks unreported in the media, adding up to numbers which might shift the outcome of the last presidential election, and that most Americans didn't know or didn't want to know?

Invisible History

Few Americans know about the historic event that happened on January 6, 2005, the official date for counting electoral votes. For the first time since 1877, congressmembers challenged the electoral count. Representative Stephanie Tubbs-Jones of Ohio, accompanied by the lone senator, Barbara Boxer of California, led the challenge to the Ohio vote count. Although massive fraud was reported around the country, only Ohio was officially cited.

It is curious that an issue so profound and consequential is barely on the radar screens of most Americans, especially those who supported Kerry.

<snip>

Under what conditions do millions of allegedly "free" people knowingly acquiesce to being deceived, dominated and deprived of their own political will? How is it that even those who were politically engaged for the first time resign themselves to an unjust fate, refusing even to consider what happened to our country? Why do progressive citizens actively dismiss and even malign a small group of courageous, devoted people working day and night on their behalf to uncover, calculate, analyze, and evaluate the extensive, varied forms of criminal sabotage that undermined their democracy? How are Americans becoming complacent with escalating fraudulent activity? In other words, how do so many people live with the knowledge that they have been tricked before, were just tricked again--and then submit to life under the power of those who tricked them?

1. Well, as a white male, I sure as hell
don't accept patriarchal authority. Okay, so I'm a bit of an anomoly. I realize this. And every single thing I've encountered has made me pretty DAMN sure the election was rigged, and that they're likely to try again. Which is why I'd like nothing more than to come up with ways to counter it, to inform the public to be aware.

Which is why I posted my "Strategy for October" currently with 13 nominations on the Greatest Page.

2. Why do the Dem's and Repugs REMAIN SILENT?
Does the government hold a private election within their own group weeks before the peoples election to SELECT who will win the make believe election.

Do they all sit around and divvy up our campaign donations, the Repugs say they get corporate donations, but why would the corporations donate if they are a part of they election scam, I'd say the REpublican people are getting scammed just the same.

So we the people Dem's and Repugs are donating and or paying to put on THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH. The make believe election. K&R

13. For The Same Reason The Truth Of 9/11 Remains Largely Untold
Their apathetic minds can't or won't invest the neural energy to deal with the facts!

3. I don't know.
I know it happened. My Mom knows it happened. My sister and her husband know it happened. His sister and her husband know it happened...

My uncle, however, won't believe it till he reads it in the New York Times.

4. Wow. Excellent article.
I hadn't seen that before.

As to the question in your headline, I agree that the media is greatly responsible for that.

The 24/7 drumbeat of Filegate, Whitewater and other non-scandals got many people (well okay, dimwits) riled up at the Clintons.
The continuous focus on Gary Condit, when his intern went missing, resulted in the loss of his seat in Congress.
Not much attention was paid to the intern herself, but she wasn't what was important to the likes of Faux News.

Sadly, some people seem to only care about what the media tells them they should.
Thankfully, more and more are waking up. Jay Leno included a voting machine joke on his show.
That's hardly enough, but IMO that's where it starts.

Really great points in that article. Thanks for posting it.

Nominated.

I thought, hmmm, this doesn't apply to me because I don't keep quiet. Silence? It can't happen here.

The Courageous Minority

The reactions listed above are completely natural. Carl Jung said that consciousness is a work against nature. To go against the collective tide of ignorance, conformity and cowardice is a work against nature taken on by the courageous few. This collective, archetypal drama described by Jung was popularized by Joseph Campbell in The Hero's Journey. The Hero is the one who is willing to take on challenges that most people fear. According to Jung, the hero archetype represents the progressive force in society.

The people I have witnessed working intensely to investigate and challenge voter fraud, have a particular psychological profile. They are courageous and willing to face pain and fear. They call up their strength to challenge authority, as our lives, our freedom and democracy depend on it. They are unable to deny what is going on or remain silent. They are heroes in our mythical, archetypal Hero's journey, willing to face the dragons who are guarding our "National Treasure."

They are acknowledged in a piece by William Rivers Pitt called "Heroes" on Truthout.org. Pitt quotes Bob Dylan: "I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom."

Only by facing the pain can we transcend it. Consciousness is the first step. Action is an antidote to depression. It would be a sign of health, freedom, and conscious evolution if more people could muster up the courage to face the painful truth of what is happening in our country and support the great work of those courageous souls--who are not nuts or conspiracy theorists, but evolved, conscious, healthy leaders taking personal risks and sacrifices to elevate our democracy, restore our integrity and ultimately to increase our security on the world stage ... if we let them.

10. Corporate media likes the idea of Democracy being a sham
It serves them well. They don't want a true opposition party, they want the DLC Democratic party....lets all go along to get along...suport the corporate agenda...outsource everythign that's not nailed down.....bust the unions.....spend even more on the national security state....don't regulate or tax corporations.

The biggest untold story in history is the rise of unchecked corporate power.

Corporate power made all the right purchases. They bought up 95% of the media that the people read or watch.

They bought the Republican lock-stock and barell, and thanks to the DLC they have half the Democrats in Congress in thier pocket.

It's Corporate Power. Democracy is dangerous. The the fix is in.

11. answering for myself...
I resist some of the election fraud activists because I find some of them to be thoroughly dishonest.

One of the things I find dishonest is the shameless twisting of my rejection of some of the activists into a dismissal of election fraud as an important issue. In fact this is bogus. I think election issues are crucial.
