According to Diebold, 193+198=369
Voting machines removed in Grafton
Manchester Union-Leader

No matter how you do the math, 193 “yeas” plus 198 “nays” don’t add up to 369 votes.

That faulty equation — results of a warrant article vote from Tuesday’s election ballot — was the first clue for Grafton town officials that something was wrong.

As a result, two voting machines used to collect ballots in the annual town and school district meetings are now in the custody of the Attorney General’s Office, removed from the town yesterday, said Grafton Selectman Jennie Joyce.
But these computers don't make mistakes. Diebold and all sorts of election officials scream this at me all the time. I am paranoid or clueless, or just plain stupid to think these computers can make mistakes. Besides, I am only a computers systems engineer and know NOTHING about election law, so how can I even dare to pass judgement upon that which these people praise as the salvation of democracy.

2. That's what those ES&S machines did in New Mexico
They deducted 17,000 or so votes from the general election while retaining them in the races for local judges.

Want to guess whose votes got deducted from the total?

A very ugly lawsuit is grinding its way through the legal system, and our DLC governor has had his feet held to the fire for crushing any audit of those machines.

We now have an all paper ballot optical scan system in place for 2006. Yes, they can hack the scanners. But those ballots can be recounted by hand.

6. what jebco did here in florida is make it impossible to do hand recounts.
whatever the machines say, thats it and tough shit. if you have paper ballots that might say otherwise, tough again, you cant count them.

5. Must be their policy
plausible deniability. Always have something to blame the "computer bugs" on.

4. Well, you've identified your own problem ...
"I am only a computers systems engineer and know NOTHING about election law ..."

If you actually knew something about election law (Bush-era style), you'd know that 193 + 198 does indeed equal 369.

This is precisely why so many US companies are outsourcing jobs to India and Mexico - we have a really poor edumactional system here, where people obviously cannot comprehend simple arithmetic.
