Key provisions of the Voting Rights Act expire next year |
|
from the NY Democratic Lawyers Council: =======================================
Congress enacted the Voting Rights Act in 1965 to enforce the constitutional guarantee that, throughout the nation, no person shall be denied the right to vote on account of race or color.
Key provisions of the Voting Rights Act expire next year if Congress does not act.
This is one of the most important issues facing Congress this year.
