What To Do Tomorrow If Your Election Was Unacceptable Today
I'm not talking about the results being unacceptable, I'm talking about the procedure and technology being unacceptable. If voters were disenfranchised, if you can't be absolutely certain that the results as announced will reflect the will of the voters, if there is no basis for confidence in the results of the elections--

Do something decisive tomorrow!

--Call ten (or 100) friends and go down to the County Board of Elections (or election office by any other name)and demand to hand count the ballots. (This is certainly useful in places where there actually *are* ballots, but might be a useful exercise in places where there are none, to make that point clearly in any media coverage you might get.)

--Buy a gross of "finger pads" (those rubber things people wear when they have to sort through piles of paper) and pass them out. Ask people to wear them as a way of saying, "I'm ready to serve my country by hand-counting ballots!" Let finger pads be your armbands.

--Blog the highways! (see www.freewayblogger.com) If that feels too risky, blog your car. Make a big sign and hang it on the back of your car, or create the sign with masking tape on your back window like a "just married" sign. (I once made one of those that said "Just Harried," and it got a lot of attention!)

--Call in to radio talk shows and get lots of other people to do the same. Say bold things like, "The people will not stand for the theft of our election system. It is nothing less than the theft of democracy!" or "We call upon the Secretary of State to prove to the people that these elections were valid!"

--Announce a campaign to pass the Voter Confidence Resolution in your community. Then do it! http://guvwurld.blogspot.com/2005/04/voter-confidence-resolution.html

Make connections. Build momentum. Be loud. Be decisive. Be heard.

And come back here as often as you need to for support!

6. No basis for confidence in your election. Volunteer to help recount it.
Make them show the votes.

10. Thanks, Emlev! Miss seeing your posts here.
Richard has been in town lately. Look for a suit to be filed soon. ~11,000 signatures with 5000 needed. Peace.

13. File Lawsuits, Demand Criminal Investigations
If Democratic areas where exploits to thwart democracy have been greatest (because of being targeted there by Repubs), local law enforcement officials are more likely to be Democrats.

Thanks, ModMom.

11. If not us, then who will?
It is up to us, the voters, to demand confidence be restored.

Being that there are few insane election officials, they know the public's confidence is waning.

They still need to hear from each and every one of us. Simply tell them that you, as a voter, have lost confidence due to the use of electronic voting machines.

If you can, say even more, but if that's all you are comfortable with do this at the very least.

Go to your elections official's office - it is a very public place, a place of elemental democracy, and give them a piece of your mind.

Speak up for yourself.

You will feel better in the morning.
