May 10 - 4 Arizona Voters Sue Secretary of State
They are suing to block the purchase of touchscreens.

Touch screen voting machines 'untrustworthy'?'
The Arizona Republic
May. 10, 2006 05:50 PM

Four Arizona voters are suing the state in a bid to shut down touch-screen
ballot machines during elections this fall,
claiming the devices are vulnerable to errors or tampering
and do not meet the needs of disabled voters.

The civil complaint, which was to be filed Wednesday in Maricopa County
Superior Court, seeks an injunction against Secretary of State Jan Brewer
and 13 county election officers who plan to use electronic voting devices
manufactured by Diebold Election Systems Inc. and Sequoia Voting Systems Inc. ...

Last week, Pima County supervisors suspended a $2 million purchase of
Diebold equipment for further evaluation. In 2005, after a Voter Action lawsuit,
New Mexico switched to paper ballots.
The organization also is backing current or planned litigation in Colorado,
California and Pennsylvania.

3. they played a game of poker with Diebold
Diebold brought their blind people to say how great the machines were,
so John Brakey "saw" their blind voters and "raised" them by several physically
disabled voters!

John Brakey, a real American Hero.

John explains how optical scan ballots (or any for that matter) were
hacked and stacked

8. Please put the link to this group in a separate thread so it does not get
overlooked! This is something that DU could take on ... as well as working to insure a paper trail for every vote.

6. why not ask? Voter Action is the organization helping
The lawsuit was filed with support from Voter Action,

www.voteraction.org,

a non-profit organization with members across the country,
which provides legal, research, and logistical support
for grassroots efforts to ensure the integrity of elections in the United States.

also if you know of disabled folks that are game,
see if they will file ADA complaints since the touchscreen machines
in Ohio are no more accessible than anywhere else.

Maybe if enough ADA complaints are filed, there will be a pileup
and we can do something about this problem.

Voter Action is headed to other states, so might as well ask.
