3. I don't think they cam make this fly!
The Pubs in Ga. tried this several months ago, and the courts shot it down, because it demanded a "STATE ISSUED ID"! I don't have a problem with demanding some kind of ID. That makes sense...if for no other reason than the keep people from voting twice, or voting in place of someone else.

6. Here's your loophole. Vote for the candidates for state and local offices
only. Vast majority of incumbents get elected on the national tickets anyway, because they are so entrenched. The shit will hit the fan when you refuse to accept a ballot that includes national candidates, and refuse to produce the identification card because it is not relevant for state and local candidates. Then it becomes a states' rights issue and can be challenged in court.(Just like the Florida election.) Separate ballots, cost of holding elections just doubled.

8. 5/24 Electionline alert
Sent: 5/24/2006 11:45:02 AM
Subject: electionline.org ALERT - May 24, 2006: Senate Acts on McConnell Voter ID amendment

This morning, the U.S. Senate conducted two roll call votes related to the voter ID amendment (SA 4085) proposed by Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky:

The first vote - a motion to table the amendment - failed, 49-48. A record of the roll call vote is here.
On the second vote, the Senate invoked cloture (i.e.. agreed to limit debate) on the underlying immigration bill (S. 2611). The vote was 73-25 and the roll call is here.
As a result of cloture, the McConnell amendment falls as a non-germane amendment to the bill.

Notwithstanding this action today, we will continue to follow this issue throughout the consideration of the immigration bill including any conference committee.

Doug Chapin, Director

18. As much as I get mad at ElectionLine, it still pays
I complain to Doug Chapin at election line often because of their
overly friendly attitude towards DREs/paperless voting...

But still I recommend folks get their newsletter, because
while they tend to leave out some of the impt stuff,
they do pay attention to other stuff.

Like this.

Otherwise, know that Electionline.org lists
Doug Lewis, Director of The Election Center as an advisor.

So, no wonder they lean the way they do.
