My husband just reported back from a RFK Jr speech to the AIA:
FYI...AIA=American Institute of Architects

He talked about how corporatism and cronyism is ruing our environment and country. He enjoys fishing but said thanks to that SOB Bush, you can no longer eat the fish you catch. He defined fascism for the group.

The talk was on the environment and corporatism, but he also talked about the election. He stated he was sure that if the stolen election case were presented to a fair jury we would win. He said he was very confident of the evidence. He received applause throughout his speech and a standing ovation at the end.

Also, earlier in the day, award winning architect Thom Mayne spoke about how important it is for everyone to get active. He told the crowd that they have to do more than design pretty buildings. He said we can't wait and Bush needs to be IMPEACHED. He also received a standing ovation.

This is what we need...professional groups to speak out against this illegimate and dangerous administration!

2. amen, mod mom
Thanks for the post. I think there are more and more people paying attention to this....at least on the coastal states. I hope the mid-states, too.

3. Architects tend to be liberal, but this was a national convention. BTW
Thom Mayne, who won the Pritzker Award, spoke anti-Bush politics when he accepted the award despite the Pritzker family being Republicans.

6. Yup, we need general American consensus on TRANSPARENT elections!
Transparent elections--people vote, and their votes are counted in public view--is the key to everything. Our LACK of transparent elections is WHY we have a President with a 28% approval rating asserting extra-legal powers to spy on us, to make war, to torture, to kill, to hide billions in secret accounts, to except himself and his junta from our laws, and to pass tax cut after tax cut for the super-rich with a $10 trillion deficit.

To me, it's a no-brainer. The Bush junta is NOT beholden to the people for their power; they are beholden to Diebold and ES&S. Americans are a sensible and good people, who are far better informed and hold far more progressive views than anyone gives them credit for. But they have been systematically disempowered and disenfranchised, and, owing to the failure of both our journalism and political party institutions--failures that global corporate predators have been working on for some time--we are reduced to almost word-of-mouth communication, where word of these egregiously non-transparent, insecure and hackable new voting systems, controlled by Republican corporations, is spreading fast.

You look at the facts of what has been done to our voting system, and you just say, "Wha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-t???" Huh? How can that be? Add to this the utter ugliness of what Bush Republicans did in Ohio--making old black grandmothers stand in the rain for ten hours to vote--and it's difficult to get past just being appalled. Is this what all the death and pain and sacrifice and high ideals of the civil rights movement has come to? We let Bushites strangle our democracy, and spit on our finest achievements as a people?

It's going to hit home soon, as the word reaches all. And as the Beatles sang, "Say the wo-o-ord, and you'll be free./ Say the wo-o-ord and be like me./ Say the wo-o-o-ord I'm thinking of/ And the o-o-o-only word is love./ It's so-o-o fine!/ It's sunshine! / Say the wo-o-o-ord--love!"

Love is coming back. That's what's been missing.

Thank you, RFK! And Thom Mayne! And Mod Mom! And Mod Mom's husband! And all who still believe in that Dream (most of us), and especially those who are putting their own lives and fortunes on the line for the greater good. My faith in democracy and in the American people has never been greater, despite these dark times. We SHALL overcome.

8. I'm impressed by this.
Yet another indication of how widespread the discontent is in this country. Thanks for sharing it with us.

9. The Republican right wing corporate mainstream media is
still refusing the truth about the stolen elections. It so appears to me that they are a part of it.
