1. because WE and our World CAN'T wait, it's getting uglier and |
|
more dangerous. We have to fight this on many levels, petitioning, calling, and voting, requesting or demanding paper ballots - absentee ones if you know paper ballots or a paper trail will otherwise not likely be available, BUT making sure your individual vote is counted- although important is not enough. We always hear about those silly 'swing voters'. Well if they don't know enough about the issues to be very determined to kick Bush out, most likely they won't have much of an inking about our fraudulent election issue. Sen. Boxer and Rep Holt made one more effort to get congress to take at least a small step toward restoring our democracy, but they couldn't budge them. Torture YES, Democracy NO. I think we can change our country, but it is going to take a lot of insisitance. I really think www.worldcantwait.net can play a big part in making a positive change for US!

3. screw that. we need groups of 10 -20 reg'd voters to hit their own |
|
polling places, when they open, and sit-in to demand paper ballots. Use peaceful CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE to shut the election down BEFORE THEY F WITH IT. CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE is called for, indeed, demanded of our citizrns by the Constitution. If we stop the election until paper can be ordered and the election rescheduled, SO BE IT.
If it causes an uproar in the press, FANTASTIC. We will be joined by Dem & Indep. voters who happen to arrive while we're protesting. This is the only way I see our forcing HONEST elections this year. If I go to GITMO or disappear for this post, FINE. If my hubs signs on to say I'm gone, y'all GET ON IT and rescue my ass, please.

4. idea is good BUT- saying "screw that " to other people's ideas is |
|
counter-productive. Do you think you can organize that in time- better get working. Also, I guess this is the only thing worth doing because after all you said "screw that" to mine and some other people's ideas. Hmmm, that might not be the most effective way to try and organize enough people to accomplish your goal. DUH!
I think many actions on various levels; education, being involved locally, petitions and calls (sadly aren't giving enough attention)presuring the media to report the truth, and vigorous protest can all help. I gladly will check out and likely join in on this plan. Let me know how it goes. How many precients have committed to this action so far? Maybe you could start a seperate post on it. Hopefully it will get kicked and nominated enough so tons of folks will join in, maybe enough to make a difference. Gee, sometimes if you bring up a plan like that with a group that is already somewhat organized they may gladly support and help you. Acutlaly Ann Wright already mentioned she plans on some direct action related to voting, including possibly being arrested-and YES sometimes that may be the best way to make people aware that this IS a crisis! Of course she is involved with WorldCan't Wait so "screw that", oh John Conyers signed the call, and Mike Malloy- oh those silly fools .
Seriously though I think your idea is a good one, and ya know what I think we should all bring it up at our next local WORLDCAN'TWAit meetings because that is the kind of thing they can help make happen. they want you to come with your ideas, and are very much into ACTION. So I think many would jump on this idea.

5. forget the screw that, but REALLY via whatever group you belong to.. |
|
try to make as many people as possible to commit to NO verifiable VOTE than SIT DOWN and wait for a paper ballot! Try to go in groups, if you anticipate a problem. If there is not problem where you are try to be in communication and go and support an area where there is one. Near or as far as you are able to go. Ann Wright actully did mention protesting fraudulent elections, and being prepared to go to the problem area, but I think she was thinking after, BEFORE/during might be better-a WAY to DEMAND CHANGE!
However I just thought of a couple problems; one thing of course all the protestors likely would NOT get to vote-we will be hauled off to jail, kind of counter productive. Also if we anticiapte a problem- we likely should try to vote absentee- ahead of time. In which case we wouldn't be in a position to sit down and demand a paper ballot. Although that is not a good enough answer because ALL votes should count! Oh well, just fooling around with ideas, but I do agree, THIS time we should NOT let them get away with it- and that makes me feel sick even saying that BECAUSE I am so angry still that it has happened for the last 2 national elections in such evil, blantant ways.
Keep tossing this around and see if we can come up with a plan.

7. hell, we can early vote here, then sit down on Election day. |
|
then the poor 2 or three reeps left in the world who are insane enough to vote for reeps will have a HUGE hissy and DEMAND UNALTERABLE BALLOTS. lol.
In fact, forget the sit ins. Let's just spook them with a geek squad at every polling place.
