Diebold Reps come to "service" opscans once a year! |
|
I was reviewing my debate with our state's Director of Elections (yes I know, I promised to make this available online but I'm still working on finding a place to host the file...)
Anyway, I noticed one thing in the debate. Our town clerk was there and she mentioned that LHS (Diebold Manufacturer's Rep) comes to service each optical scan machine once a year. I called her today. She said they do boot the machine, dust it off, and she's not exactly sure what they do to it.
this is yet another time where Diebold and/or their sole representative has access to the machines before each election. It is possible, although I am not making any accusations here, that they could be doing something to the memory card or otherwise. We have no idea what they're doing basically.
Until now I had thought that the only access they have is when the memory cars are sent to them for each election. now it appears they have their hands on the actual scanner before each election too. So this basically doubles the opporutnity for fraud.
Again, I'm not saying they're doing anything necessarily. My point is that they COULD do something and that is bad enough.

1. K&R. I wonder what they charge taxpayers for the dusting? |

Computer voting is a racket from beginning to end.

2. It is. Because the vendor has no stake in their product |

producing accurate elections results but instead the results desired by the guys who threw them the contract. And there is every evidence that they sell more equipment than the counties need and that they aren't responsive to system failures.
They're crooks, expensive ones.
